This happens with a number of drawings, I believe all the files are very large approximately 8mb+. The issue is that by using the REGEN or the Zoom - Dynamic command, it will freeze AutoCAD. I will have to conduct a force shutdown than restart the program.
My question is; where do I start to determine what is the cause? Where do I find an error log?
I'm facing a problem that each time after I did Regen or Zoom, the system halted and then recovered only after several minutes. I guess maybe it is related to special drawings, because it only happened when working with the drawings which was transferred from an .iges 3D drawing.

Currently my mouse is set to ZOOM>EXTENTS like I imagine most people's is. Lately I've been getting a lot of "Requires a regen, cannot be transparent" errors while trying to zoom>extents, and I would like to introduce a REGEN call into the wheel-double-click macro. REGENAUTO is set to ON.

I've noticed when I try to hatch something it will regen model every time after I select boundaries.

What would cause AutoCAD to choke, ONLY when viewing a model from one direction? In my case, it's the right view, and it doesn't matter how I get to that view, ie "view, right" or "dview,clip". Views from other directions regen almost instantly, but from the right takes a full minute, while Acad tells me up top that it's [not responding].
Issue is only in single dwg. Tried audit, purge, etc. Wondering if there is some obscure (dwg specific) system variable causing this, before trying the WB to get rid of an offensive entity.
Since upgrading to AutoCAD 2012, everytime I open an xref using xopen, then close the xref, when I go back to the parent drawing the screen is totally blank and I have to regen to get it back. This happens almost 100% of the time in this scenerio. Easy to do a regen, but I am in and out of xref's a lot, and it's getting really old.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen switching from layout to model space, and back again, and when switching layouts the regen is slow to an extreme, upwards of (3) minutes. Using Renenall in layout, the regens are quite slow as well. Windows 7, AutoCAD 2011, NVIDIA Quadro FX1800, most current driver.
Additionally, when publishing, the regens are equally slow. LAYOUTREGENCTL setting seems to have no affect.
My layers in layout viewport are displayed in wrong order even after I use REGEN or REGENALL command.
I am working with drawing file with quite big amount of layers (about 100+ including layers of 7 xrefs) and because I want to use different layer settings for each printed drawing I work directly in the layout viewports instead of model space so I don't have to switch on/off countless layers all the time.
The problem is that quite often layers just turn into wrong draw order and don't come back even if I hit REGEN or REGENALL command. To solve this I have to zoom out, jump out of the viewport by doubleklick outside, use REGENALL command and then jump back to viewport so I can keep on working. This is extremely time consuming especially if it happens every 3 minutes, over and over again.
The AutoCAD doesn’t show the “intersect osnap” at certain zoom!
The “intersection osnap” between a “hatched rectangle” and a “DASHDOT2” line appears and disappears depending on the amount of zoom!

I am working on getting some settings done, moving from 2008 to 2012. How do you set the Middle Mouse Button (wheel) to either Zoom All or Zoom Extents when you double click it? I thought it was set in the Main CUI file.

While running the program when I use the open command dialog box if I re-name a file, create a folder, or copy a file autocad goes unresponsive and crashes immediately afterward. I have installed the service pack and update my video card driver trying to fix the problem. I used to be able to perform everything mentioned above in AutoCad 2010 without any problems. I don't think its my computer causing the problem because everyone else in my office is having the same issue with 2013.

They are picking Circles or blocks in the drawing and I get the insertion point, then insert a new block. However, whenever they try and use a transparent zoom or pan to move around the drawing when the promptentityresult is hit, it zooms back to the original location.

My lot top mouse is not working no more with the zoom in and out command. I dont have and external mouse other than the one is install from factory on my lot top comp. It was working perfect, but i think i click something by mistake. I only learn enough to draw in cad but when it comes up to problems like this i do not know what to do. than the whole zoom is lost , and i need to find again the portion , and save a view. i want to automate this process but before i automate it i want to know if there is a way to avoid zoom lost after executing the (plan) command?

I loaded 2013 Civil 3D and I customized my Ribbon with Zoom Commands I use frequently; everything looked fine...I changed the Workspace to Planning & Analysis and cutomized my Ribbon to include the Zoom Commands but a Button Icon for ZOOM_TO_POINT came up with a cloud & question mark. I went to look for the Icon Image & I don't see it. I made the mistake of changing the Icon to another hoping I could change it back but it's not there. I went to the 2012 verison & the Button Icon is there...first icon listed. Where are the icons in 2012 so I can drag & drop image into 2013?
The icon has a point symbol with a magnifying glass. I've checked other computers and the same thing. Can't find the Image Icon for ZOOM_TO_POINT. It shows up when you load the software but if you want to edit it...it's not there in the CUI Button Icons.

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

On some computers with AutoCAD 2013 SP2, pan and zoom launched with the middle mouse button is significantly slower than pan and zoom performed by launching the PAN or ZOOM command on the command line.

With CS6 the same keyboard command works differently. I don't have the option to select the area I want with the marquee tool. Is there a way to do it in CS6?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHad a system crash. I had Norton 360 using a slave HD as my automatic backup source. To reinstall windows, master HD was overwritten. I thenfound out Norton 360 didn't save my autocad files to the slave HD. Their definition of "other files" didn't cover dwg files unless you did an extremely detailed setup process, which, was not in the Norton instructions. Anyways, local computer service was able to recover about 60% of the "lost" autocad files.
Of those recovered files, about 60% will not open up. Only get a message "not a valid file" The file details show its an autocad file, its size, and the last date of revison.

Main issue is frequent crashes of the AutoCAD software. Sometimes 10-12 time's in a day. Unfortunately their are no error messages, and I have yet to see any pattern in when and how it crashes.
The problems I can see are the workspace, and process memory of my system. The workspace does not load correctly. The Ribbon shows multiples of the every tab at least twice. All tabs show the commands but not the pictures associated with the commands. CUIload shows correct workspaces.
Second note is that my system runs the same .dwg file's at 2/3 the processing memory than any other identical systems I run AutoCAD on.
Third, through my digging and attempted solutions I found that the AcSignCore_.dll file was missing.
I have: re-installed 3D twice, updated graphics drivers on my system and run open close save hotfix as well as AutoCAD2010 update 2 for 64 bit system.
When creating a PDF from a DWG AutoCAD LT 2010 (running on windows 7) I get the following error.
unhandled access violation reading 0x6a162be0 exception at 6a162be0h
This only happens the second time I create a PDF - the first time it is very quick and there are no errors
I have tried a repair and a reinstall but am still having the same issue.
I tried to print the layout from autocad, the autocad will freeze and it will prompt out the AutoCAD Application error message as the attachment below. Once click on "cancel", the application will shut down itself.
*The printer is HP LaserJet P5225.
*Other program like Revit, MS Word and etc still able to print well.
*Computer spec: Windows 7-64bit, 12 GB RAM, Xeon processor.
