View 9 RepliesTurn on/off layers in the current viewport only, I’m wondering if there is a command that can be plugged on the “quick access toolbar” by which one can turn on/off layers in the current viewport only.
The available command to do so is “Freeze and thaw in current viewport” (attached) and it sounds it can’t be plugged in the “quick access toolbar”!
Is there a way to plug the command “Freeze and thaw in current viewport” in the “quick access toolbar” (attached)?

I have a template for sheet creation with all layers on, thawed, etc. When I insert a view on a sheet, there are VP layers that are frozen.I do not want these settings.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 quick questions:
1- How do I turn OFF the display of Layers in Layout viewports, but they remain ON in the Model?
2- How do I rotate a group of objects to match my orthogonal UCS?
Why a layer state assigned to a viewport can only restrict the layers showing? I want my viewport to show the proper layers all the time, even when those layers are not visible in model space.

Using the DAta Connections tool under Planning and Analysis, also known as Map 3D, I have attached a series of shapefiles and I want to be able to toggle the view of some of them on or off depending on the viewport. Is this possible to do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI created view frames and sheets for a number of alignments. Is there a way to turn off a match line not associated with the main alignment for a particular viewport.
Or did I missed a setting somewhere that should turn this off automatically?
Seems like it should be so simple to switch to Activeshade viewport, but I can't for the life of me see or find how to do it!
I've got the floating window updating, but I thought the point was use the function in a viewport...
my gimp 2.8.6 makes majority normal layers turn into text layers..
Even if i "discard text information" from layer..and then save it as .xcf it doesnt work! Same layers appear as text layers when i open that .xcf Its not a big deal but it really slows me down when im working with layers..
turn off layers in individual view ports yet keep them on in the model space tab? UPDATE: Just figured it out. Click on the sun icon under VP Freeze.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know there is a command/button to turn all layers back on if most of them are off, and you want them back on. I use it all the time.
My question: is there a similar command to turn them all off? If not, why not? It makes just as much sense to me. Sometimes I want to turn all of them off, and then just turn one back on.
I have a sub that gets a page number and a collection of layer ID's to freeze. The sub will freeze the selected layers in all of the viewports except for the new one.
After running the program, the layers in the specific viewport are still visible, but when you go into Model mode in the viewport and check the layer status, it shows the selected layers are set to Freeze in the viewport.
If I save the drawing, exit, and re-open it, the layers are now not visible. I believe I have the "Regen" in the correct spot.
The code is attached.
' Freezes the selected layers in all other existing viewport layouts Public Sub freezeOtherLayouts(ByVal pageNumber As Integer, ByVal layersToFreezeLayerIds As ObjectIdCollection) Dim doc As Document =

I have functions that will freeze or thaw layers in a viewport, but I was wondering how to just check which layers are thawed/visible in a selected viewport.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to design a house on AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and I have a bunch of layers that I'm not using but I can't delete. The problem is when I turn off all the layers I am using and I leave the ones I'm not using on their is noting on my screen??? why they are their and why I can't get rid of them. I'm trying to keep everything neat and they're messing me up!!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have found this point today!
If I want to trunoff/on some layers in different layouts, the best way is to use "vp freeze" column in layers properties manager. This way I can manipulate layers' visibility without altering them in MS or other layouts.
Left to "vp freeze" column there is "new vp freeze". I don't know what is this one?
I was wondering if it's possible to turn snap off on a set of layers whilst keeping it on for others?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a one drawing in MS with 5 layers.
I have 2 viewports in one layer tab from that drawing with different scales.
I want to turnoff 2 layers in one of the VP but have them turned on on the other VP.
What is this used for? From reading, it seems as though if you use this command it is a way to turn on and shut off layers?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've "Binged" and "Googled" this for days, and have searched this forum internally with no luck.
I work primarily in GIS of a totally different platform than Auto Desk's offerings so my terminology may be tainted.
(I'm running AutoCad 2005 btw)
How can I tell AC to turn off any/all layers that are empty (i.e. have no objects, no block associations, no rasters etc).
I don't want to purge these empty layers as I will eventually need them.
Scenario:
All layers are turned on and visible, after I have purged empty layers that won't be needed, there are still empty layers left I will need to use later, I wish to turn off only these layers.
(There may be 20 or so layers so I was hoping for a programmatic way of doing this.)
I have a dialog box that has 2 list boxes. One box has the available layers in it, while the other will contain the selected layers. I want to use those selected layers as a list of layers that will be visible in a particular view port. I have searched all over to find information on what kind of list I would need and how could I use the list with a view port, but all I've found is info for one layer becoming visible.
I'm also looking into "FreezeLayersInViewport" but info sure seems limited.
How to freeze a specific layer inside a block within the viewport?
View 3 Replies View Related“Locking” the layers state (turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc.) in the viewport,
I’m wondering if there is a technique that allows locking the “state” of layers (turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc.) in the viewport mode such that the viewport will keeps its required state REGARDLESS THEIR STATE IN THE MODEL MODE!
For example, in the screenshot below, freezing the point in the model mode will also freeze them in the viewport! And thus the layer state are not kept as required in the viewport which adds more efforts.
One possible option is saving the layer state! But this feature is not a property for the viewport but needs to be selected from the layers option. And thus we need again to think about layers that are supposed to be turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc. in a particular viewport.
What I need here is to LOCK the viewport not only in terms of scale but also regarding the state of layers!
I often draw over topography lines and use them for reference but I don't want to snap to them. Is there any way to view an object and turn off snapping only for that specific object or layer? For instance, can you make frozen layers visible somehow so they can be viewed, but not snapped to? Or is there another way to accomplish this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to turn off all the existing layers in active document. I have found in developer's guide how to turn off one layer with specified layer name but can not apply it on all layers with any layername.
I tried to get all the Object ID's in layer table and then for each object turn layer off but seems that it does not work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to turn on/off the layers in a filter?
In our company we use standard layerfilters, so they should be the same name in every drawing (else its gonna be a good idea to do so).
If i know the command on how to turn off of on layers who are set in a filter i can make a macro to do it for me, but i dunno if there is an way to turn of those layers with an command.
We use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.
I am currently updating and coming up with a better system for are plant layout file for AutoCAD. When this project is complete, it will be set up so if someone needs to make a change they can just make a copy of the X-Ref file for the area they will be updating and hand it back in when there done. I will review the updated X-Ref then switch out the old X-Ref file for the updated one.
Problem: the problem I am having is when I am in the master drawing that contains all the X-Ref files, the layers list becomes enormous. There are about 30 to 40 different X-Ref files with 15 layers each. Those 15 layers contain the exact same information but you have to edit them individually.
Question: Is there a way to make the 15 layers in the master effect the corresponding layer in all the X-ref files? For instance, you hide the “Machines” layer in the master and it hides the “Machines” layer in all the X-ref.
Side Note: If you were going to make the suggestion “use Xbind” I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work well because “Xbind” creates a new layer you have to assign to things instead of making the layers relate to one another.
Every time I change views in 2013, new layers added to the drawing turn off. How do I stop this? The active layer also defalts to the active one I started with.
