View 3 RepliesI think a setting changed on my pc this weekend. I used to be able to double click the block and edit the attributes in the editor. Now, I can't change any values. I can only get to the dialog that shows info on the block and when I right click, I only have a few commands come out of the flywheel. I rebooted, but no go.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've trying to track down a solution for an issue that we are experiencing. When some of our lisp programs get run, you can no longer double click on text to edit it in paper space. If I put text in model space, I am able to double click to edit it. Is there a variable for this?
I just verified something else, if I move the text to be outside of the View Port, I can double click to edit the text. If I try to double click to edit while inside the viewport then it switchs to model space withing the viewport.
In 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on a .dwg on a website, AutoCAD will not open the document and IE just loads a blank page. My default program for .dwg is set to AutoCAD DWG Launcher. This works on other PCs.
The only way to open the .dwg is to right-click the link, select Save-As, then double-click the file once it is saved on my PC.
How can I fix this?
We've upgraded to 2012 and have noticed a problem when fast clicking on the mouse when using commands.
For example when using the erase command I would usually type E and then quickly right click and left click. However in 2012 it brings up random command instead of erase i.e. sheetset, publish, ucs etc..Bringing up the text window afterwards it shows
Command: e
ERASE
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: *Cancel*
0 found
Select objects: *Cancel*
Command: _PointCloudIndex
The right click and left click are only processed once. This happens on all commands typed on the command line not just erase
I have a problem with some drawings. When double clicking in a viewport that is unlocked (for the purpose of panning) the viewport zooms to extents.

I'm working on a new computer and some of the ACAD settings are different.. When I am in paperspace, I am used to just double-clicking in a viewport to work in modelspace..
Whether the viewport is locked or not, I am used to being able to zoom in and out to scale, or just work there and the viewport stays stationary.
There is some setting that is causing the viewport to "zoom out" every time I double click in the viewport. I have to then lock it which means that I can't change the zoom-to-scale factor.. It's also a pain in the neck.
Also, when I have multiple viewports open that are not locked, they all "zoom out" also when I double-click in one..
Any knowledge of some setvar to fix?
I can open cad files, i can add informaiton but I cannot delete or edit/open blocks.
I can not make any changes to block, i cant even move them.
If i type in the command BLOCKEDITOR my response is 0-READ ONLY
When saving an AutoCAD drawing there is a Thumbnail image saved (if you have the option turn on), but when the command "Edit Xref In-Place" is used there is no Thumbnail image saved. So now when I try to preview any drawing that has been edited through this command there is no longer a thumbnail.
I am using AutoCAD 2012 and the option to save a thumbnail is turned ON.
Is there a way to select multiple multileaders and change the text to the same thing in all of them? (Like a block with attributes, where you can simply change the attribute in the properties box).
This would save so much time instead of going to each one of them, double click, edit text, "tab", "enter"...
I am trying edit an Xref in place in a sheet file both through the paper space view port or within the sheet file's model space but receive a pop-up warning that states "Selected Xref Block is NOT editable". Other sheet files are set up the same way and allow edit Xref in-place.

This has caused the particular dwg files to expand from 300k to 4mb.
Purging seems to have no effect. Is there any way of reducing the file size on these back to normality?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the ribbon in 2012. I've got a drawing index sheet I want to update, and what I need to do to get to the Edit Data Link command is switch to the Classic interface and select the table in order to display the Table toolbar with Edit Data Link button.
I cannot find this anywhere on the ribbon, and the same button icon as Edit Data Link on the Table toolbar runs Data Link Manager from the Annotate tab, Tables panel on the ribbon, which is not what I want.
Where is this on the ribbon? And how come identical tool buttons run different commands in different workspaces?
I like the concept of datalinks, it's ingenious working with excel and do what excel does best instead of doing it in acad. I am done with the excel part and want to edit my table in autocad.
My problem is that I have some unused rows and columns that I can't get rid of, erase is greyed out.
Is there any way to edit multiple attribute properties, NOT using battman? While battman will chnage every att-block within the drawing, I'm looking for a way to change the text size of one specific line of text within an attribute, and ONLY change it in a certain few within the drawing. It'd be nice if I can select those specific blocks and change the properties in the properties manager, but it's not an option.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy office has just installed 2012 on a couple of extra machines. Our installs were fine before but for some reason we can't double click to edit text or attributes any more. I've checked MTEXTED = INTERNAL and DBLCLKEDIT = 1 but that's not it. We can type ED or ATTEDIT to edit attributes normally, or MTEDIT to edit mtext but we don't get the normal text formatting bar or ruler. It's just looks like were using the dxtext editor, but it's not dtext.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn previous version of AutoCAd 2008 (or earlier) the images dialog to edit the images (i.e., brightness, sharpness, etc, it has been a long time and I forgot what they were, but they were there and with many options) was obvious, versatile, and very easily found then, but I could not find it in AutoCAD 2012.
how to get it in AutoCAD 2012?
Is it possible to modify .DXE files with a text editor?
I want to quickly find & replace the file paths DXE's are looking for (rather than run eattext every time I have a new drawing), but after opening in Notepad or Word AutoCAD displays error "...not valid extraction file."
BLK's were nice because files could be renamed and the schedule would still work. Now, the DXE will look for the old drawing rather than the one which has been renamed. Copying a file or using a template is impossible because you have to run eattext & create a new DXE every time the file name changes.
I want to make a grid that is adjustable by editing parameters. I want to change the size of the blocks. And i want to change the number of blocks in the x-direction and y-direction.
I have created a square with a width of 50mm and a height of 20mm. I have created 2 parameters called width and height. Next I added dimensions to the square and i call those dimensions width and height. Now I can adjust the width and height of the square by editing the parameters.
Next I want to copy this square in the x- and y-direction so that you get a grid. The number of copies in x-direction I call number-x. The same in the y-direction.
I then link the number-x and number-y to 2 parameters that i have named number-x and number-y.
The distance between the squares has to be the same as the size of the first square. Only then you get a grid. So i created parameters for this to. I call them width2 and height2.
Now I can adjust the size of the grid by editing these parameters. When i change number-x or number the grid becomes larger. But when i want to change the size of the initial square, it doesn't work. I think because of the fact that the first square has become a part of an array.
How to make a grid that is adjustable nu editing parameters in the parameters manager?
add a line to the code you wrote so I could use iunembed or detach the old image in the begin of the lisp command. Iunembed command ask what to name tif after it is unembed. Is there a way to detach the old embed image and run the other parts of the command? Keep in mind I change the lisp little bit.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to know about the permission needed to edit the autocad file. In my folder there are many autocad files. I need to give the edit permission to one particual file to a specific user.
First i tried with folder level security. But i failed.
1. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete,Write Attribute) in the folder level. But when i tried to open the drawing file, it throws an error. Error: "File is currently using by the user1. Would you like to open the file read-only?"
2. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete) in the folder level. Now i could open the file successfully. But after editing, when i tried to save the document, it throws an error: Error: "Unable to save to drawing D:TestTest.dwg as it is being accessed by another session. Drawing saved to "D:Testsav460B.tmp"
3. Now i have given full permission for the particular user including Delete permission in the folder level. Now i could save the drawing succesfully after editing.
From this , i guess, it needs delete permission in the folder level to edit and save the drawing (I understood this is for creating/deleting tmp/.bak files during saving the document.). But giving delete permission in the folder level is very risky.
Untill recently I have been able to edit my blocks or xref files in place. Now when I try do that CAD tells me to select nested item. Is this a setting a changed by mistake? If so what is it?
