We have a customer that sends us drawings with Arabic fonts that we sometimes need to edit and insert Arabic fonts. Is this possible in the English version of AutoCAD? If so, how do we go about loading Arabic fonts?

To open .cal drawings, I've alway hit the "insert" tab and selected insert raster image from the dropdown menu.
Today, the "insert" tab doesn't create a dropdown menu. It opens a whole "insert" toolbar without any reference to raster images.
How do I open my .cal files and why did autoCAD change itself?
would be able to identify arabic fonts also.
theres this one font, i want to post it, but i wouldnt even know if u guys would know what it is. is there a website for foreign font identifying?
I have previously laid out a book on InDesign CS5 using an arabic AXT font and my client came back to me with a few changes in the text. I have recently downloaded CC and when i open the file the type is highlighted in pink and the error mentions it's a glyph issue. The font is installed correctly and works fine in illustrator.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Corel Draw X5 on a machine running XP Home (SP3) that more than matches the minimum specs required.
Have been a user of Corel Draw since version 7,8, 9 and 12.
When I type text using any True Type Arabic fonts in Corel Draw X5 the text just appears as blank squares. If I apply an outline to the text then it appears fine but if I then try to edit the text it goes back to appearing as blank squares. (Square are not filled, just outlines). This happens when typing text as artistic text or paragraph text.
It is the same in the drop down list for selecting a font when previewing a font it just appears as blank squares.
I do not have this problem with Corel Draw 7,8 or 9. All my Arabic fonts appear fine in these earlier versions of Corel Draw and in other software. This problem first arose with Corel Draw 12 but I learn to live with it but am very disappointed it is still happening in X5.
On another note X5 appears to be not fit for purpose due to the number of problems I am and other users are having with it.
when I choose an Arabic text font and start writing in the text box the text appears as unlinked letters and the direction of writing is also wrong.

I am a land surveyor and am looking for a routine that will look at my txt files exported from the field data collector, and upon exporting into C3D, will look at the descriptor and place an appropriate block on the node. For example, if the collector code was for an IP (iron pin), when the points are imported into the drawing, a solid round block would be placed on each node with the IP description. Same if for trees, concrete monuments, fire hydrants, etc.

I need to insert two different (separate) title blocks into my idw drawings so both show on the drawing. One is the real Title block, and one is a Revision History block. I have listed them as Title blocks under Drawing Resources, but Inventor won't allow me to insert both. Is there any way round this?
I do not want the Revision History block as a Symbol.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically we have a number of different procedures that need to be written in each drawing. Each drawing uses one of 5 or so procedures. Usually we type it out every time which is a pain or copy paste. We also tried making word documents and inserting them that way but it got a little buggy. Is there any way to have 5 or so pre made text blocks to pick which to insert onto different types of drawings but that can be global used across a few systems?
We have a small group of workers all on the vault server. Basically I just want to be able to have a finished drawing. Click something that will open a list of my pre made text blocks, and insert one into the drawing that I can scale etc. We use Inventor 2011.
I have a full set of water drawing that need to be submitted to the City’s Water Department. We have to include DWF and DWG drawings on a CDRom, but that is easy. The issue is that there is a stand-alone submittal set. Now, this is not hard to do with Sheet Set Manager; that is not the problem. The problem is that the Water Department has a special set of layers that they want any Civil to use for submittal. These layers are of course different from the NCS we are using now and in our CD submittal set.
Is there a better way than to insert or bind the drawings to a special set of drawings and then change the names? I would most likely use either the “rename” command or the “layer translator” function in Civil 3D 2012. However, if I ever had a revision that affects the base drawing and the CD set; I would have to re do all this binging/inserting and renaming over as well.
I am running AutoCad LT 2005 and have had no problems copying and pasting drawings into Word, and then double clicking to edit them if needed in AutoCad.
I have recently had DWG TrueView 2011 installed on my machine and it has taken over the associations with CAD drawings in a Word document, so that I cannot edit them.

The 2D drawings I am working with were exported from 3D REVIT files to 2D AutoCAD files. There are several XREFed drawings that are both mechanical and architectural from the original REVIT files that for whatever reason, the block's line weights came over with line weights of 70 in those blocks.
When I plot, the objects are a blur with the line weight so high. I tried using the command "setbylayer" but that didn't work since nested blocks still had lineweights of 70. Is there a VBA or LISP routine to run through all the blocks (including nested) that can change the line weights to a given number?
I have just installed C3D 2012 and when I show the menu bar, the only choice is Express which used to be the last tool in previous versions. What happened to File - Edit - View - Insert - Format, etc in the menu bar? I need to access them.

Currently they come out with just the number 1, 2 , 3 etc I need to add a leading zero ie 01, 02, 03 etc
All the scripts I have will just replace the number with another
I just want to append the zero infront of the existing number
ie the code will need to read the existing number and decide if its less than 10. if it is less than 10, then the code just needs to append the leading 0. if its 10 or over, then do nothing.

I want to edit type because im making an animation where the font letters are morphing in to other letters.
i.e. - A into B into C etc.
i can draw this - the problem is that im gonna have to 100s if i want a smooth animation and i would of thought using illustrator would be alot quicker and i can use more frames.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been able to insert a PDF into an AutoCAD 2013 dwg but only as an attachment. This seems to be similar to xref but I can't seem to bind the pdf to the dwg. Therefore when I send the dwg to a client and they open it, they only see the drawing format and no PDF attachment. Sending the PDF as a separate file is not an acceptable solution.
Is there a way to insert a PDF and bind it to the dwg so an external reference file is not required?
I'm not interested in converting the PDF to a dxf or any other format. Just interested in knowing whether there is a way to insert and bind a PDF to an ACAD dwg.
We have installed 35 AutoCAD 2010 on several computers. Some of these machines use Windows XP 32 bit and some are Windows 7 64 bit. We noticed few issues in both OS but here is one important one.On Windows XP user can insert a PDF file into a Cad file - Insert>Raster Image Reference then select the file type as adobe PDF.
Doing the same thing in Windows 7 wont insert a PDF file. The file type is set to "All image files". We type * as a file name and select a PDF file to insert. Result is an error window pop up saying "The file cannot be opened. The problem can be caused by several things:
-The data in the file is corrupted
-The file is an earlier format that is no longer supported
-The file format is not supported
Since the same version of AutoCAD on Windows XP inserts the same PDF file the none of these causes can be true. Why AutoCAD on windows 7 will not insert a PDF file?

I have plotted other drawing sets using this method but for some reason cant do it on this particular set.

I want to be able to have each of them basically work in the same dwg and at the end of the day, BOTH of their work is saved in one dwg, but no double lines, etc.
