3ds Max :: State Sets Not Working With Vray Properties

Noticed that stats sets didnt wotk with vray properties? from kens Blog:
"Vray rendering is fully supported by State Sets and we are working closely with Chaos Group."
kens blog yesterday:

- all vray properties were not recognized by state sets
- vray framebuffer output paths also (only if save checked or not)
- settings on render elements also

I guess state sets come from maya and in maya we can Copy render layer instead of setting it up all again and again...
How can I copy state set in 3ds max so I can work quicker? Where is copy button?

am working with a purchased version of 3ds Max 2012, and state sets are not showing up in the rendering menu. Also, there is no state set function in the 3dsmax.ini file to be set to true, which is what this link says to do initialize state set to true
It says it comes with advantage pack version of 3ds Max 2012, so are there versions without it installed?

I am trying to utilize state sets so that I don't have to re render an entire scene to change one thing. For instance, in the attached image, I need to keep re rendering the floor patterns. So I created a state set where only the floor renders but obviously includes reflections and everything else from the model. I am getting these black clouds showing up though that I can't figure out what it is or where they are coming from.
I have just been turning off the other objects "Visible to Camera" to acheive this. what could be causing these clouds coming from the second floor?

clarify if State Sets work or not? Are they a non feature that should never be used?
Every time I use them on any job they corrupt and loose all render settings.

For some reason, when I go to open my latest MAX2014 file... the State Sets dialog shows briefly on the screen while the file is being opened but then disappears just before the file finishes opening.
I don't use State Sets so I'm not sure why this dialog is showing.

We've started using State Sets to manage the output of render elements from our scenes and all was looking great UNTIL we noticed a rather nasty bug.
I hope I can describe this clearly. Here goes:
I have created 3 State Sets as follows:
Beauty
Outputting/saving a bitmap to ".eautyFrame_Beauty_.jpg" from the Render Output 'Save File' section.
No Render Elements enabled.
Reflection
No Ouput/file saved from the Render Output 'Save File' section.
Reflection Render Element enabled and outputting a bitmap to ".RefFrame_Ref_.jpg"
AO
Outputting/saving a bitmap to ".AOFrame_AO_.jpg"
AO material in Material Override section enabled.
Exposure Control deactivated.
Now when I switch between these state sets by clicking on the green arrows in the State Sets dialogue the 'output path' from the Beauty or AO state set gets transposed onto the output path in the Reflection Render Element in the Reflection state set.
It seems that Max 'recreates' the Render element each time the green arrow for that state set is clicked and any active Render Element inherits the output path from the previously active state set.
This effectively renders them unworkable for managing Render Elements.

Ok, I need to make a main layer set and another layer set within that main set so its a kind of sub set. But for some reason photoshop simply refuses to do it, I can make two layer sets fine but it wont let me drag one of the sets inside the other set, it will only drag to above the set or below it, not inside it.
Looking at the picture, if I try to drag set two into set one so its inside set one it will not do it. You cant see it on the screenshot but the cursor turns into a grey circle with a cross through the middle.
Is there supposed to be some kind of setting to allow me to do this or is my photoshop completely screwed up? I am using PS7

Is there an issue with Scene States in Design 2011?When I set up my scene states it's like the program decides on its own when it wants to actually save the scene states correctly and then reload them.
The only thing I'm using the SS for is hiding/unhiding layers to batch render different options on projects. I hide/unhide layers as needed, save all the SS needed and then when I test them out using Restore Scene State the settings may or may not have taken effect.
Just now after repeatedly trying to save the SS that I needed I finally got it to save and restore...but I didn't do anything differently than I normally do.
The real kicker is when sometimes I create the SS, test them (and they work) and then run the Batch Render...but when I come in the next morning the SS never switched and the renders show exactly the same SS in each camera view.
Is it possible that there are issues within the scenes themselves? (I notice the same exact problems when using Design 2012 as well.)

I prefer using Visibility State to flip objects instead of actually using the Flip command! Simply because there are less grip points for the user when using this block. My problem is: when adjusting the physical properties of the block by using the dynamic features and then changing the visibility state (e.g. left to right), the block is no longer intact so all of the grip points will no longer alter the block accordingly.

After publishing, the printer icon shows the job is spooling, when i hover over it, it says "publish job in progress". And never changes. The sheet set works fine in 2011. I have tried recreating, updating dwt files, multiple setups, tried using the dialogue box and publish override. Nothing is working.

I can't seem to get my visibility sets to work out. I just use the parameter set - visibility set. I create a few new visibility states such as rectangle and circle. When I switch between sets and make changes (such as deleting my circle and creating my rectangle) then switching back between visibility states, I am simply left with the rectangle on all my sets.
I seem to be missing something that "locks in" my visibility sets and leave the others unmodified. I played with the architectural-imperial block template that autocad has built in it, and their visibility sets work. But I can't recreate them inside that template.

Do other people have an issue in Photoshop Elements 12 with it not consistently saving photos in version sets? someties it works correctly and somethimes it doesn't and it also bumps me out stating it is a new photo. i do have it configured to always save in version sets and to not notify me with new photos?

So, I recently turned on the quick properties menu so that I would not have the delay of the properties menu updating in large drawings. The problem that I am having now is that some items do not show up in the regular properties menu. For example, mText will show up in the properties menu as well as the quick select menu, but multileaders do not show up in the properties menu any more.

I am having an issue with the Properties Manager in AutoCAD 2013 LT.
When a single object is selected, the dropdown appears blank and the properties displayed are just the default drawing properties that are displayed when nothing is selected.I am unable to view/modify any object's (line, hatch, etc) properties.
My PICKFIRST variable is set to 1. This happens on any file I open with 2013 LT but does not when the same file is opened with 2007 LT. I have also reinstalled/repaired the program through the control panel. I am at a complete loss.

What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.

as the subject states, at some point (I believe after uninstalling autodesk 360), our properties tool pallete will not populate info for the selected object. is there a fix other than re-installing from scratch? The installation fixer didn't work, and I've had to re-install twice now for other issues with the software, so it's getting very costly/time consuming to just re-install for these problems.

Copy drop shadow properties is not working for me. When I click on the object to copy to, it tells me, "you did not click on an object." What do I need to do?
Edit: actually, I'm seeing that this is not working in Contour, either. And it may not be working in other effects as well, although I haven't tested those.

I have recently installed "Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium 2012 English Win 64bit"., and now I would like to create thru "Make Part" feature an assembly in which I am using in the previous version 2011. The feature options are not working.Step to re-create:
1. Manage Tab > Make Part
2. Under "Place part in target assembly" click the Folder button on New File Location
3. A "Component Properties" dialog box will appear. Now, click "YES" or "NO" button, dialog box closes.....

The new Enhanced Menus feature is ace and a welcome thing BUT can you add Vray lights and cameras to it? Its oh-so-close to replacing the normal command panel and toolbar. Add Vray
ANNOYED BECAUSE ALL MY OLD AREA SETTINGS, SIGNATURE, FORUM POSTS etc ARE ALL *GONE*. AND NOW I HAVE DUMB LONG USERNAME INSTEAD OF MY OLD ONE.

how to switch materials with VRay. I find it odd that there is absolutely nothing. I need to have a texture map on a plane and then have it dissolve into another one. Is there a way to do this? I tried a VRayBlend material and that doesn't seem to allow me to have one or the other.

I am a Maya user recently switched to 3DS so i dont have a grasp on the meat and bones of max yet with regards to deleting nodes from the scene etc and this may or may not be a simple fix. I have an animation where i have a 3d model from turbosquid which seems to have brought in VRay materials. Every time i open the file now i get prompted " Missing Dlls" then "FileName vrender90.dlr". This is not any major inconvenience, however it crashes a backburner render whenever i try it, which is.
How to totally rid my scene of Vray materials if at all possible? I have tried finding them in the material editor etc but i cant seem to get rid of them. I seen some tutorials on how to do this in earlier versions but it either didnt work or was different in 2013.
