I cant figure out how to add 3rd action on my button, to show an active state (basically freeze the buttonts opacity until the next button is clicked) while this portion of the stage is being visited.
3ds Max :: Restore Scene State Not Working Correctly / Sporadic
Aug 3, 2011Is there an issue with Scene States in Design 2011?When I set up my scene states it's like the program decides on its own when it wants to actually save the scene states correctly and then reload them.
The only thing I'm using the SS for is hiding/unhiding layers to batch render different options on projects. I hide/unhide layers as needed, save all the SS needed and then when I test them out using Restore Scene State the settings may or may not have taken effect.
Just now after repeatedly trying to save the SS that I needed I finally got it to save and restore...but I didn't do anything differently than I normally do.
The real kicker is when sometimes I create the SS, test them (and they work) and then run the Batch Render...but when I come in the next morning the SS never switched and the renders show exactly the same SS in each camera view.
Is it possible that there are issues within the scenes themselves? (I notice the same exact problems when using Design 2012 as well.)

I have looked around on Google but cant seem to find anything. I'm after something similar to the scenes feature in Sketchup.

Aug 10, 2013I want to save the configuration and state of the Track View in my workspace. So when I start up Max, the Track View opens up in the configuration I had when I last used Max, and/or in my saved workspace.
Even after I save my custom workspace, it doesn't save the track view. I have to manually open up the track view, dock it the way I want, and open up my custom layouts I had saved in the track view. This takes a lot of time.

Dec 7, 2008I have an image with a long history palette. I have been working with a burn tool. Accidentally I bumped the keyboard, and up comes the image with a new History State, just the Burn Tool with the History Brush. one line. I have none of the others. So, I dump that one in the garbage can. Slight name change but still the Burn Tool Histoy State. I notice the same statement on a second bar at the top, and the same bar having the minimize etc buttons. So, I click the lower bar, now I have an image with all the history states. I save the History state version and exit that screen. Now when I open the History tab, it opens behind the image! I reopen the saved History State image, same thing. All I can do is save the work, exit PS and start it again. The behavior is normal now, but of course minus the history states.

3ds Max :: State Sets Not Showing Up
Nov 17, 2011 am working with a purchased version of 3ds Max 2012, and state sets are not showing up in the rendering menu. Also, there is no state set function in the 3dsmax.ini file to be set to true, which is what this link says to do initialize state set to true
It says it comes with advantage pack version of 3ds Max 2012, so are there versions without it installed?
3ds Max :: Utilize State Sets
Oct 4, 2013I am trying to utilize state sets so that I don't have to re render an entire scene to change one thing. For instance, in the attached image, I need to keep re rendering the floor patterns. So I created a state set where only the floor renders but obviously includes reflections and everything else from the model. I am getting these black clouds showing up though that I can't figure out what it is or where they are coming from.
I have just been turning off the other objects "Visible to Camera" to acheive this. what could be causing these clouds coming from the second floor?

AutoCad :: Edit Layer State
May 23, 2013I'm working with AutoCAD LT 2013. Just recently my layer State has not allowed me access. When I try to add a layer or edit a layer I can't get access and I get a pop-up note which reads:
"ALL LAYERS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THIS LAYER STATE. NO LAYERS CAN BE ADDED"
When I access layer states manager I can add a new layer-BUT it does not show up in Layers. Acts like the Layer State is Frozen to further modifications.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Contextual Tab State To OFF?
Mar 23, 2011Is there any way to turn off the Contextual tab state. I tried changing a lot of them in the CUI Ribbon Properties from Full to Merged but now when I select anything the program slows down to a crawl. My reason is that its really not that convenient for ACA to keep switching back and forth just because I select an object. I use a lot of hot key’s but there are many commands on the Home Ribbon tab that I use 99 percent of the time at selection and I find it a royal pain in the ars to keep switching it back to get to the command I need. I’m using 2011 ACA. OS is Windows 7. 64 bit and 10 GB of Ram

Aug 13, 2012crashes in VSX2 (and all previous versions for that matter). At Corel's suggestion I installed the trial version of X5. In the meantime, I had my X2 working a lot better.
But I thought I'd take a look at X5 and see how it looked, since I'd gone to all the trouble of installing it. In order to try it out, I opened some of my projects and played with them a bit. I didn't mean to save them, but apparently I must have because now I can no longer open them in X2. Windows explorer thinks they are X2 project files, but when I try to open them in X2 nothing comes up. Then I try to open them in X5, and sure enough there they are. Project properties confirms they are now X5 project files. I tried to do a save as, but the only options are X5, X4 and X3. No choice for X2.
This is a problem because I haven't decided if I want to buy X5 or not. If I do, fine, but I don't want to be forced into it just so I can work on my old projects. Is there any way to convert them back to a format that X2 will open?

Sep 9, 2013I had a request to add wells using state plane coordinates using an aerial photo. Is this possible in acadlt 2010? If possible I would thinkk that if I could get a relationship with the wells I could adjust the image/photo if I had two known coordinates on the photo. Not even sure if you can change to NAD83 (1991) in light.

Sep 6, 2011I have created a bunch of templates (title block type drawings) for my company. In these templates there is a dynamic block used for a particular note. Based on customer number, this note will be changed.
We have a program that will insert the correct template based on the drawing type. It will know the customer number and change the dynamic block visibility state to reflect the correct text in the note.
I don't know why, but sometimes the visibility state does not change. It's not the code as in some drawings it works just fine. I've gone in and just changed the visibility state name, then changed it back, then saved the drawing and it worked.
Has trouble with dynamic block visibility states not working when using an automated process?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: File Is Never In A Saved State
Mar 12, 2013Alright, I'm not actually trying to do customization, I have a client that cannot save his drawing and have be in a "Saved" state. When creating a data shortcut, after saving the file (and doing nothing else, I watched), he is unable to create the shortcut because the drawing needs to be saved. Another example, when doing an e-transmit it tells him that the drawing hasn't been saved and if he wants to save the file. He clicks YES and then it tells him the drawing hasn't been saved and asks him if he wants to save it.
It seems to be isolated to this file. If he works in a different file, it works just fine. Also, I had him send me the files (via e-transmit) and I was not able to replicate the problem so, it seems to have something to do with this particular file on his system.
My question then is, can something be embedded into the file that will cause something to happen directly after a save (like a reactor)?He's using Civil 3D 2012 but I don't think it's anything directly related to Civil 3D.
3ds Max :: State Sets Dialog When Opening File?
Jun 3, 2013For some reason, when I go to open my latest MAX2014 file... the State Sets dialog shows briefly on the screen while the file is being opened but then disappears just before the file finishes opening.
I don't use State Sets so I'm not sure why this dialog is showing.

first of all i don't have that "enu" folder with defaults. however i found defaults/designviz.mentalray/medit.mat (designviz.mentalray is scheme that i'm using) but changes to that file doesn't have any effect. after that i've tried to activate designviz.mr scheme again and restart 3dsmax, still no effect.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Solid State Drive
Jul 25, 2012I recently obtained a new laptop with a Solid State Drive and, holy smokes, it's seems at least twice as fast as another laptop with comparable specs like RAM and processor. I used a stopwatch. It was incredible.
Things like opening the program, opening drawings and re-loading Xref's are all way way way faster than without the SSD.
To those of you who have added SSD, are you seeing the same boost? This appears to be an easy way for Civil 3D users to increase speed tremendously, without purchasing a whole new system.

I have here some Substitutes from specifics LODs in my IAM, and i need to supress/unsupress some parts (same parts) in all my LODs. So there is my question, how could I copy one state from first LOD and then apply to all of them ?
I cant just delete and create again copying from the first LOD because I have Substitutes based on those LOD, so if I delete them iI'll get some problems here.

Nov 20, 2012I am using AutoCAD 2012 LT but also have a AutoCAD 2013 (network) license available to use.
I am having a problem with my dynamic blocks. I created a set for access control and used them in several other details such as door layout and panel wiring ect. but if I try to combine a drawing with multiple tabs to show a Door detail and the panel wirirng the Dynamic block goes back to the default or original visibility state.
I have attached Sample1 and sample2 if you try to copy from one of the drawigns to the other you will notice that the dynamic blocks will change.
I also attached the original Dynamic block.

AutoCad :: Objects Off In Layer State Still Displays
Jul 5, 2013I'm working with AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and working in the xref. I have my layer states set up, no problem. However, I have a layer that still shows up in all states even tho it is not saved in the layer states. If i click on it, it shows as off. It is a block, I have it on the ByLayer and the correct layer.
