3ds Max :: Interpolation For Helix Spline Shape
Jun 12, 2012There's really no way to set the interpolation steps for the path of the Helix spline shape?

View 3 RepliesI have a helix spline that is pretty large. The larger I make it the more evident it is that it is made of segments. I can't find any place to adjust the interpolation. Is there any way to add more segments to smooth it out a bit?

I've got a Mesh which consists of several Helixes with regular Tubes in between. They are all welded together, so it is one long Mix of Helix and tubes. In Animation, the amount of Turns in each Helix needs to be changed (from 0 Turns, up to 50 e.g.).
First I attached bones to each helix, but strechting the bones only leads to stretch the Helix - not reducing the Turns.
In another attempt, I took a regular Tube with a Path-Deform-Modifier and a helix-spline, so I had good control of the Mesh, by changing the splines-parameters. But since my Mesh consists of several individual helixes, I cant use it cuz i can only select 1 spline in the deformation-modifier.
way to animate the 'steps' parameter of a spline such as text? The effect I am trying to achieve is have the wireframe of a mesh (extruded text) get more detailed. I have tried subdivide but it is not the same.

I have the outline of a solid body guitar that I drew with spline, extruded and now trying put a 1/2" fillet radius along the edges, top and bottom.
Using the 3d fillet command produces an error, and extruding a profile along the edge path doesn't work either.
Attached is the spline outline, the red part is what needs the fillet, but the white part does not. However, they can't be extruded into a 3d solid unless their joined!
I have some text that I put on a sine-wave path using the PathDeform modifier. Is there some way to make that shape permanent, independent of the sine-wave spline? The DeformPath mod won't collapse on the stack.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm applying an extrude modifier to a simple spline shape, and i am accustomed to the extrude modifier generating a solid 3d object in the shape of the spline, if the spline is a closed shape.
however, in this case, the extrude modifier is generating just a 3d outline based on the spline's shape...
i can't figure out why i'm not getting a solid 3d object since the spline is closed (i checked all the vertices).
file is attached (the spline in question is named "upper side section")

I am once again trying to get the hang of drawing a 3D spiral staircase and cannot seem to figure out the SWEEP command properly. I have a channel, or a rectangular tube shape which I want to use for the stringers. If I use a round tube, like when I do the handrail, there is no trouble. But when I use a channel or rectangular tube shape the SWEEP command causes the shape to bank and I end up with an unuseable shape.
In the attached drawing (ACAD-2007 format) I have shown a SPLINE which indicates the path I want the outside stringer to follow.
I am trying to create a 3D meshed surface from an irregular shaped solid I created using firstly a SPLINE, FILLET, PEDIT, and EXTRUDE. I have a solid in the basic shape now, but I am trying to create a meshed top and bottom (x, y, z,) to change the contours of those surfaces. I have looked at 3DMesh but it asks for (n,M,) coordinates like it is a regular shaped surface (square, rectangle) where one can calculate the required even spacing needed.
My goal is to create in CAD something like a fine art carved piece of wood, with irregular shaping and no straight planes or surfaces.
I have included a basic picture in JPEG format for your review. This is the item from which I am trying in ACAD 2010 to construct into a usable adjustable form so I may parametric for my needs.
I'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I want to to print an image at a certain size in photoshop but do not want to have the image resampled up or down I can basically do this
1. go to image, resize and uncheck the resample image box and type in the resolution at which I want to print = lets use 300ppi just for kicks.
2. Now that will depending on the resolution of the image this will resize the photo the the max size that can be printed at that print resoultion- period. Then is the image is say 5x8 and I want to crop to 4x6 I can set the crop tool to 4x6 and leave the resolution fields blank, to crop with no resampling. Is this correct so far?
Now want I need to know is how do you do the math to figure out max print size from a given resolution- if I have an image that is 800x640 say- how do I convert that to inches to see the max size that can be printed without resampling- am I just dividing both fields by ppi?
to be sait i have picture 8*6 and 300ppi and i wont to scale this image to 12*10 and 300ppi with crop tool (not image size). my question it's: do photoshop now in this function make bicubic smoother for interpolation or he that's make asimple interpolation like bicubic?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I generated FG maps with interpolation of every 3 frames and I use read FG points at every 2 frames. Would this be wasting my time? Would it be better if I just set it to 0? Once it starts rendering it comes up with warning signs saying it can't find specific FG maps which is understandable. Would max have to generate new ones (because this would be a waste of render time) and if it does can I somehow just tell it not to?
It is an animation that I am rendering (moving car and moving camera).
I've been trying to resize an image and tried Gimp 2's interpolation method but nothing happened. I increased the size to 150% with 153 pixels (I think). Did I do something wrong or is Gimp just not good for interpolation?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to draw a helix in X3? It is not evident to me and a search does not turn it up. Alternatively, I could draw a helix in MatLab (or such) and import it, but what file format would make it manipulable in X3?
View 14 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to do a precise crop in any units that avoids interpolation. As far as I know entering a size in the input boxes, does not give a crop box of that size, as it does in the selection tool. The only accurate way that I can think of is to use guides to mark the crop and then use the crop tool. A bit primitive is it not?
Also can the guides be set by an input box? It is very difficult to pull them to the correct position, using the info box. I can only set 1000 and 4000, by zooming to 100% and then scrolling, otherwise the info box is too coarse. I suppose someone will say that CS6 addresses this!
When I try to scale down a Smart Object, by using the Free Transform tool, I get over-sharped edges. Mind you when I do the same on a raster layer I can overcome it since there is an option box where I can choose interpolation method.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHaven't used AC in a while and hoping this is a simple question, trying to take a polyline (in this case a coil shape) and add a diameter to the line. This 3D object will then be imported to COMSOL for some thermal expansion modeling.
Is there an easy way to do this?
Because I have only a 2D logo, I was able to complete half of the helix. Is there any script that completes those semicircles?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am planning to use a 50fps timeline, but my camera does not support 50fps, so the next best thing I can do is 25fps. My understanding is that if I shoot with a 90 degree shutter at 25fps, then that is like shooting every second frame of native 180 degree shutter 50fps. I hope that is correct The question is, how do I get Premiere to interpolate the additional frames so I have a nice smooth 50fps finish? Do I need a plugin? I don't want the blending modes that just overlay adjacent frames. I'm looking for a solution that creates brand new frames with moving objects where they would have been, had the footage been shot at 180 degree 50fps in the first place.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project that involves a screw conveyer(auger) with a 3" od, 1.5"/flight and a 0.800" ctr shaft. I modeled it without any difficulty using the "helix" function in a 3-d sketch & then swept a rectal around that path. The problem is, I need paper templates to layout the pattern on the steel. In the past I have made use of the "flat pattern" feature to print paper templates for tube notching and such, but that function prompts me with an error message "no surface to flatten" Attached is the full screw(augShaft9in.ipt), a single flight and 2/3 of a flight(i dont think a full flight will flatten & not overlap). Need to getting these patterns printed.
