VideoStudio :: No Audio In AVI Or MPEG File
May 7, 2012
Working with family project (captured by someone else-not me). Gist is that the raw AVI file doesn't have any sound when I play in media player or VSX2. The avi video format shows up as mpeg4s Decoder DMO and the audio as "Unknown ACM Format". I naively used this to make an mpeg vid file and tried to tweak the audio using LPCM but the resulting file has no audio either. The avi shows the video compression as mpeg4 but when I use my mpeg4 converter it doesn't recognise it so it's obviously an avi file with an mpeg4 video compression used.
Is there any way to recover the audio in these circumstances?

The following didn't eventually cause me a problem since I have retained some earlier versions of VS. Normally, starting way back with VS version 8, I've happily downloaded avi files from my handicam, edited them and made nice home movies on DVD, worth watching even by non-family .
But now I've just been given a couple of mpeg-4 files (total time of 1 hr 20 min or so) to turn into a nicely edited DVD (it's an orchestral concert). If I insert the files into the timeline in either X5 and X6, the audio doesn't sound when I try to play either the project or the clip. Do the same with X4 and things work perfectly, audio comes through loud and clear. So I've used X4 for the task, I kept it on my computer.
An additional task was to make an audio CD - no sweat, I just created a sound file (in the "share" tab) with X4 and went from there. Trying to do the same with either X5 and X6 caused the software to crash with an error message.

I'm trying to import an HDV clip into Premiere Pro on my iMac running OSX Lion. I have 5 clips from the shoot and 4 are importing fine. The first sign of trouble is that when I see the clip in the media browser the box is initially bright red. Then, when I import it the video is fine, but it doesn't have audio attached. I watched the clip in Quicktime and the audio plays fine. Is there a limit to what size file you can import into Premiere (this one is very slightly bigger thant he others - 12.67 GB)? Or is there any other reason/work around? I'm not very technical so I'm not sure if I can provide much more info than that. T

Problem after rendering a video file using FFDshow video codec (for AVI compression in Mpeg4 base) and using Mpeg Layer 2 192kbps 48Khz audio for the audio format?
I have been using this tried and true format for years with no issues whatsoever... until recently within the past year or 2 I have been running similar problems with it. I had recently concluded it was due to the Mpeg Layer 1 and 2 audio codecs that DVD Movie Factory 7 install as prior to version 7 I have always had DVD Movie Factory 6 that I have to install in order to get this audio format on the system to use with encoding.
I had completely reset my system up recently... with NOT installing Movie Factory 7 and remaining with version 6 and have had no issues with encoding using VideoStudio Pro X3. However, I had gone ahead and installed the Service Pack 2 update for VideoStudio X3 and seems like since then the problem has resurfaced. Now I am usually left with glitchy audio. My question to the Corel guys... does Service Pack 2 for VideoStudio X3 have any relationship whatsoever to the Mpeg Layer 1 and Layer 2 audio codecs that Movie Factory 7 install? Because if it does, then you seriously have a problem with these newer codecs in the software and you need to revert back to previous versions which work without any problems.

I have the following problem. I've created a project which takes about 20 minutes. The projects contains foto's and video's (MTS 1920x1080). When I create an output file in the MPEG-4 HD format there is one point is my video where there is a Glitch.
There is one MTS file in my video where I see some white flickering, which is very disturbing.
I've performed some tests to try to solve the solution, but I think it seems that there is a fault or error in the VSX file.
Below I've added some of the results of some things I've have tried:
When I drag that one MTS file in my project to another location the flickering seems to stay at the same place but then in another video.
When I remove that one MTS file from my project the flickering is gone. It's a solution, but not at this point, it should be working.
When I play the video in Windows Media Player then I see the flickering, but when I play it with Video Lan then I don't see it. If I play the video on some computer with Media Player it also should be working.
Also when I export the video in the AVCHD (1920x1080P) format the flickering doesn't occur.

Loaded a MPEG-4 Media File 3Gb, went to setting, clicked on Smart Proxy cue manager, waited 40min and clicked ok. I check my Smart proxy file manger and it was there. My power went out, when I reload CV my files in Proxy manager were no longer there, and my file is back to being slow and jerky, that means I have redo this again.
does this mean I have to cue manger every time I wish to work with the same file?

I have created a video consisting a many photos with some video. Some photos, e.g. a horizontal close striped golf shirt, gives a flickering effect in the output video file.
I do have the anti-flickering filter checked. Ran a test with filter off, but this did not correct it. Offending photos are approx. 2.5 meg JPEGs.

I was trying to 'create a video file' when I received this message, 'Ulead VideoStudio [2000:1:1] Failed to open the MPEG encoder.
I've made countless movies and this is the first time I'm having this problem. Maybe I had it in 2008, but I've just turned 70 and remembering what I did then is a thing of the past!

Error message:
"Failed to open MPEG encoder".
I'm using Ulead VideoStudio 11+ and when I try to render a completed video to a file I receive this error message. The video is a little large, one hour fourteen minutes, so I cut it in half, saving it under a different name and it still gave me the same error message. However, if I render a very small clip then it renders as it's suppose to.
I've never had this trouble before. I reloaded the software for 11+ but that didn't work.

Weird audio noise after encoding for Mpeg for Blu-ray.
It's random and does not happen all the time. Started to do it after I update the latest Premiere CC.
Seems to happen when i apply a transistion to a audio clip from no audio. Sound like a mic to close to a speaker repeating the sound faster and faster. I cant hear it durning the editing, just after exporting.

A friend of mine shot some video with his JVC everio on 1/8/11.The native files PLAY fine in VS3 however any attempt to convert to any output video file or just output the audio track (which is what I really want to do) results in random audio "skips" like what happened when an LP had a scratch and a stylus couldn't play it.I have VS SP2 installed along with the audio patch on the Corel site.
I've successfully exported the MOD files to other formats using a freeware program called Video Pad from nchsoftware.com, so I can only assume VS has a problem.
I thought before I downloaded that MOD file converter, that's been discussed here, I would ask.Seems that a PAYware software like VS, shouldn't have this problem.Prior to using MOD files, I used AVI files in VS and exporting to an audio file worked just peachy.

I am using VS Pro X2 - I have 3 small MP4 files in my project timeline (filmed on my mobile phone) and for some reason although they play fine on the clip, the audio doesn't come out on the Project, or on the finished DVD, which is a real pain...I have 94 minutes of good quality DVD and 45 seconds of silence! If there was no audio at all I could understand it, but the MP4 clips all play fine on the "clip"...it''s just that when I play them under the 'Project', there is no audio.
My original DV files (which are all ok) are MPEG Audio Layer 2 files - 48000Hz, 16 Bit Stereo - bitrate 224kbps
The MP4 clips are MPEG AAC Audio files - 48000Hz, 16 Bit Stereo - bitrate 113kbps

VS11+,Firefox,XP Home.I have imported a WAV file from my hard drive ,it is 705bps and 99.7 kb, it plays in Windows Media Player but there is no sound when played in the music track.Initially I raised the vol to 200(it was to play with a file in the other sound track) as I could not hear it.It played once. Then, VS "encountered a prob and had to close" and the file has remained silent ever since. The wav file still plays in WMP.

I am having difficulty generating files with VS X3. The app works fine opening the source files, editing and preview playback. Preview replay has audio and is very smooth. However, all generated files have no audio. The files I'm working with are recordings using the Hauppauge HD PVR controlled by BeyondTV (V4.9.2). Those fies are MPEG-2 Transport files, having the extension *.tp. VS does not recognize the TP extension - which is very frustrating. When I change the extension to M2T, they import fine.

It seems that I can't delete or cut the audio files out of the video clip to add the edited version. By the way I am using Corel Video Studio Pro X3

I have been using Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 recently. I split a number of video files on a daily basis. This is what I do:
I take an Avi file that has a duration of about 30 minutes. I drag and drop the video into the "video track" area in the program.
Then I use the little "slider" thing and drag it to 15 minutes and click on the "scissors" symbol. which results in making the video split into 2 parts.
I delete the first part on the "video track" are and then I click on "share"-->"create video file"-->"custom"-->I choose Avi .
The compression I choose is Xvid Mpeg-4, 24 Bit RGB, and the Audio Format is Mpeg Layer 3, 8 Bits, 11.025 Hz Mono
The resulting video does not have any sound . This does not happen if I delete the 2nd part and create the video file with the first 15 minutes only. This happens with almost all of my videos (all of them are avi).

I have split the audio from the video track and I am now trying to "lift" a copy to put through a sound editor. I then intend to replace the original audio track. (or to put on audio track 2 and mute 1). I haven't as yet found a way to lift the audio track and load into a separate file.

When I go to render a video that is composed of video clips and an .mp3 music file, I'd like to get the finished file into as big of a file as I can. In order to do that, I select the MPEG-4 option. The good news is it typically will result in an approx file size of 250MB for a 2 1/2 minute video, versus 170MB for any other file extension. The bad news is the audio is full of pops and noise. The audio remains fine with any other option other than MPEG-4.
I've tried numerous ways to 'reconstruct' the file...using different audio file extensions (it seems to prefer .wma files but there is a noticeable drop in clarity), rendering the video only then adding the audio file and rendering again...nothing works. I've also tried to modify the rendering options in each video selection that Corel offers (this is in the window that pops up asking for the file name just before you render it), but the audio never gets better.

I just got done installing the Corel Videostudio Pro x6, I am trying to import my own personal music-audio file into the music track, however when I do the system crashes or another way of saying it, a window pops open saying Corel has stop working. This same problem happen with the x5 Pro version. I notice that the pre-loaded audio files in Corel are files of MPEG-1...do I need to convert my MP3s into MPEG-1 in order for this to work?
I have a few converting tools but none of them can convert MP3s into MPEG-1..

I know there must be a thread or post about the best MPEG settings when you are going through the steps to burn a DVD, but did a search and came up with nothing.
Those items in bold are checked in X4.
In the MPEG properties
● Do not convert
● Support X-Disc
● Two pass conversion
● Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD compliant
● Auto fade
● Play all
● Auto repeat
Lower field first?
Under Change MPEG settings/Customize do any of you change anything? General Tab and Compression? I know to move the slider under compression to 100%. Not sure about the rest.

I tried twice with the same result! When I capture directly to the mpeg format and then burn a disk I have no problem.
How I could convert AVI to MPEG (no menu, no edition) in a simple way?

I am using VS X6 ultimate that I purchased yesterday
I am capturing videos from VHS tape using an S-Video connection
I have tried different capture options settings and the capture always saves in MPEG
I believe that AVI has the least loss and would prefer to save in the AVI format since I intend to do some editing of the original content The end objective will be to burn reults to DVD
Can VS X6 capture files in AVI? If so, what settimgs should I use? Any settings that would be best for this type of transfer to HDD?
