how to update a changed model from Sketchup that has been imported into the Conceptual Mass editor. The need is to reflect changes to this Sketchup file that is used in the Massing editor.

The model is a 5200 sf interior building space that I had applied materials & components to in Sketchup.
Now that I am working on the model in 3ds Max, I am having some issues with the application of materials to the objects. Basically, some of the objects kept some of the materials that I had applied in Sketchup; however, some of the materials did not come through into Max. When I try to remedy this and apply the correct materials to the object, it is linked/grouped to several other objects in the model that I do not want to apply the material to.
I have tried to make a copy of the material in the material editor and then reapply to the object, but it still applies it to several other unrelated objects.
Also, I seem to be having trouble with my zoom feature in the viewport....my zoom will sometimes work, but sometimes it will zoom all the way to extents of the model, and won't let me zoom back into the interior of the model space; I don't know if this problem is related to the previous issue.
I imported a model from Sketchup into 3DS Max. When I apply materials to some of the surfaces, the scale of the texture varies from face to face, these are the triangles that make up a polygon. It's as if the texture is getting stretched or compressed in one direction or another. Other polygons allow for consistent materials. It seems to be random and I can't figure out what to do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a model within revit architecture 2013 which I want to export as a gbxmL and open in the open studio 1.1.0 interface within sketchup. When I export the gbxmL model into sketchup it does not have a floor, and an error saying surface has two adjacent spaces which are the same space (warning repeated for each room), room will not be translated, and also surface has no adjacent spaces, will not be translated appears.
All spaces are bound to the floor and roof, and zones are correctly assigned, and the model has a location. There are no errors when the export to gbxml is to take place for analytical surfaces or for the rooms. What might be wrong in the way I have assigned rooms/spaces?
I downloaded and installed the 13.0.1.1 patch for PS Windows but the about box still shows version 13.0.1. Did something go wrong or is this normal?
Moreover, contrary to what is announced in the forum header message, using the Help | Updates menu doesn't trigger any update. The 13.0.1.1 update is only available from the Security certificates updates page.
Changing a file association is a simple matter you either do it in Windows Explorer in the properties or just use the edit in command in bridge.Except that neither is working.
Photoshop CS6 is not even showing up as an option in either Explorer or in Bridge but it is ironically working in Lightroom.I know how to change file associations.
I have just updated to Lightroom 5.3 and the strangest thing happened. I went back to my galleries and all the colors are off. Everything is a little greener and a little warmer. I had just exported a wedding that I shot a a few days ago anf I went back to change one shot. I noticed that it didn't match any of the other shots or previous version of that shot. I am an Olympus shooter (OMD E-M1) and I know that Adobe just added new Olympus profiles into Lighroom for the first time. I am not using any of those profiles, just the Adobe Standard profile. I am still experiencing a color shift. I am running an 2011 Imac w/ Maverick, 12gigs RAM, SSD Boot Disc. I didn't have any problem until the update. It is checked, but I keep finding files that "have been changed recently". So not only that it's not auto-saving them, but it is also finding "new images" that "have been recently changed" even though I didn't open or edited them in the past several months..

First, the rim to sump value will not change with sump defined by depth and trying to change the sump depth (going deeper and no rules exist). Second, change to define sump by elevation and the sump elevation changes and the grip changes to the correct elevation, but the part outline doesn't change. Everything worked just fine until suddenly, in model tab, every new dimension i wanted to draw, looked like this (see .jpg attatchment). I didnt modify anything. Just changed to layout tab for a moment and then back to model. When i changed the text height into 10x bigger just to see the difference, the white dimension line just got wider and thats it.

Usually one can view sheets, 3D views, and elevations in a project file and (while I have located some of these options in the tool bar) they are not located conveniently on the properties palette as usual. When I open a family file, I can usually go to different elevations and create extrusions/model from different views. There is currently no option for viewing different elevations and when I go to toggle in a 3D view I can't go back to the reference plan (the only view I can model in). My problem is: my model did not update before run "Save File" rule which made the saved model is not correct.
I have to use ilogic rule to save this model instead of "Save As" in Inventor menu.

I have a frame generator model that won't update without crashing. I made a small change to the geom and can't get the model to update without a crash. No error message. I have restored (no vault) yesterdays version without success. Same crash. I have edited the geom to it's pre problem state. Same crash.

I want Inventor to update the Revision Number property in the model the same way.
If this is not possible, is there a way to automatically map the Revision Number property in the drawing to the Revision Number property in the model?
I'm a new 2009 Inventor user (use mostly Solidworks for other jobs) and how to make the model update after I modify a feature sketch (e.g. I only add one more circle/hole to a sketch used for a somple extrusion, but the extra hole doesn't appear on the model). Editting sketch - close sketch. No model update.
This is an existing 3D model created with inv2011. inv2013 does not like much of what we created in the old releases of inv.
Sketch gives me 1 dimension. Part and drawing give the old dimension value.
This is yet another major sign of unstable software. Over 24 software issues discovered from changing inv2011 to inv2013.
I like to keep the properties of my drawing the same as those of my model. Currently I must remember to hit the "updat copied properties" button in the drawing to discard any old drawing properties and replace them with the properties from the model.
Is there any way to automate this task (perhaps on saving the drawing?) I presume an iLogic rule could be created in the drawing template, just not sure how to go about it.
I'm using Inventor 2011 and when I go to change parameters using iLogic in an assembly model, (sometimes it is a component suppression, other times it is an iPart component change) it won't update the associated drawing file. I need to go into the BOM on the drawing and renumber the balloons, or change something else in order for the custom iProperties to update in the drawing template. If I just change the iPart component, then the BOM doesn't need to update making the renumbering of balloons redundant.
I'm using iLogic to update all of the iProperties and component references, then reattach balloons. What I would like to do is automatically update the custom iProperties drawing template fields, and renumber the drawing BOM.
linked Excel file to Inventor 12 file parameters. Windows 7, Excel MS office professional '10. Linked excel file, here dimensions are driven by parameters which are driven by excel. toggled 'immediate update' Still - i have to open the sketch - it shows the updated number from Excel, but only on opening the sketch will it change the model to use the new dimension value.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with using the excel spreadsheet to hold my parameters and then making them auto update in the model.
I have the excel 2003 spreadsheet saved in the same folder in the projects directory as the model. When I create the spreadsheet and enter the parameters and values etc I save and close the file.
When I am in inventor 2013 64 bit with SP1 installed, I open the model and can link the spreadsheet to the model and the model reflects the values in the spreadsheet. I also click update on the parameters dialog box.
I then open the spreadsheet and make some changes to the values, save the file and even go to the extreme of closing the file. When I go back into Inventor it recognises there has been some changes in the underlying spreadsheet. The update button is active in the tool bar. However trying to update the models by what ever means does not update the model parameters to those in the spreadsheet. Even closing the model and reopening it does not make a difference.
The only way I can get this to work is disconnecting the file and then reconnecting the file through the links option in the parameters dialog box. Then the model reflects the correct values and updates the model accordingly.
My concern is there is quite a bit of stuff on the net about 2013 not working with 2014 inventor anyway.
Any way to get a wall sweep that's set up in the type/structure properties to follow a wall if that walls profile has changed. For example, in the image below, I've split the wall and adjusted it's profile to create some cheesy angled parapet. How do i get my wall cap to follow along? I thought splitting it and changing it's height would work, but no. And if I change the profile without splitting the wall the wall cap just runs right through the wall, as if the profiel was never even changed.

"The update release could not be installed because the expected Autodesk product could not be located on your computer. Make sure that you are using the correct Update Release for the product."
The update file that I am trying to use is called "Autodesk_Revit_2013-x86_Update2.exe".
I try to 'lock' a beam system that I have used for rafters to the underside of my roof.I've successfully got the walls and gables linked in with the roof, and have set up reference planes for cutting of rafters (that should - I think - mean that rafters can move slightly - or change pitch, whilst maintaining same cut extents at rafter ends).
Trouble is - the rafter Beam System does not update with the roof.
My creation approach for the Beam System was to select the underside of the roof as the 'Working Plane' - then edit the boundary to project beyond the walls and form the overhang. I projected it further than I required to provide the excess needed in case I wanted to push the cut plane outwards.
I assumed that selecting the underside of the roof as the working plane would 'lock' the two together, but it doesn't appear to work.Have I missed a straightforward step to link the two elements together ?
I'm, trying to update my wall profile so that all of my interior walls have baseboard/molding on them. I've been successful in creating a wall profile with molding, but only on one side. Looks like this in plan view. (Molding is highlighted and only on one side.)So, I first try to update my wall profile like this:
And I either duplicate, or add another sweep to the wall, and make that "Exterior" as to be on the "other" side of the wall.However, after pressing "OK" and "OK" at the wall profile editing box, I get the following error box:
When I click on "Show", I'm shown nothing. When I click on "Enjoin Elements", this same box comes up no matter how many times I click on the "Enjoin Elements" button.
Having problems adding molding to both sides of their interior walls? Am I going about this the right way? Tried to smallify the actual .rvt file, but I can't get it down to an acceptable size for posting here.
i have been using sketchup now for about a year but as you know, the models are never really complete without a background in them. there are ways right in sketchup to add a backgroung but they cant be rendered because the background disappears and leaves only the rendered model. i downloaded gimp to see if i could add a background there but the instructions are so vague that there's just no way i can understand what they are talking about. i know nothing about transparent backgrounds or what it has to do with adding a simple jpg photo background to my model. the more you people try to explain in your ''image editor terms'', the farther away from understanding i get. i know for a fact that there are hundreds of people out there who feel exactly what i'm feeling but they don't want to appear to be idiots so they clam up and so then these questions are never asked and these statements are never made and consequently, you people just on talking in some other vague language that very few beginners can possibly relate to. i just want a simple instructive path as to how to bring a picture to the clipboard and then bring a background picture into that first picture, blend them togeather and have a finished scene. is that a lot to ask? if you want people to use your product, then find a way to speak to them so that they can understand what the hell you're talking about. i do realize that there are those people out there who fully ''get it''...but for every one of that do, there are 50 more that do not.
