I ran into a problem with my dimensions. Everything worked just fine until suddenly, in model tab, every new dimension i wanted to draw, looked like this (see .jpg attatchment). I didnt modify anything. Just changed to layout tab for a moment and then back to model. When i changed the text height into 10x bigger just to see the difference, the white dimension line just got wider and thats it.
View 2 RepliesI have been using autocad for many years but have never experienced this situation before. I have received a simple Electrical layout file from a consultant, after opening this file my settings in AutoCAD changed, for examples the snap angle to the cursor changed to 337.18 degree, the selection box (pick box) went to maximum and a few other settings also changed. I had to manually go back to the options and change some of the settings back to what I normally have which is very much similar to default settings. But I could not change everything back to normal. I had AutoCAD 2010 and later installed 2012 to see if it would fix the problems. What surprised me is that when install fresh AutoCAD 2012, the default settings is now changed to the settings that has changed in my previous AutoCAD.I would like to change the settings back to normal.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've been plaing with my CUI and found there were a lot more visual styles than i thought so added a few to the dashboard to try out. trouble is, a few have similar names and the same icon and now my realistic that i liked is not available.
now it's kinda semi-transparent.... before it was totally opaque. the same with my 'conceptual'...i can see far too much geometry.
btw i don't have a personal CUI or whatever the procedure is....i just modify the main one when inclined.
i've made a toolabr with ALL the listed visual styles on it and gone through them all but none of them gets it back to the opaque version.
^^^ this is in model space only. viewing from paper space it's the same as it always was.
The PaletteSet changed control size and layout. It's different from the status in VS.What's the reason?
View 7 Replies View RelatedTwo pictures keep coming up in a Smart Collection I created to see which images' metadata need to be saved after adjustments.
I select the two, save and after a few seconds they populate the Smart Collection again. Clicking the "Metadata needs to be updated"-icon of the selected files also doesn't work.
This is what I see:
I tell LR to save the changes:
And think all is OK:
But in no time I'm back with where I started; the same two images in the collection.
Going to the folder in the library and saving doesn't work either.
What can be wrong with these two pictures? The Metadata list shows all correct info, caption and keywords, just the Metadata Status shows there's a conflict. Choosing "Resolve conflict" gives the same results as all I tried before.
CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i insert a xref in a drawing i always use the command "send to back" in the model space. However when you switch to the layout the xref sometimes is on top of the symbols in the drawing. This problem is easy to fix with send to back but when you want to do this you have to set the viewport to modelspace selct your xref and then send to back. This is easy to do when you only have a few layouts but when you have a couple of layouts with several viewports in each layout it's a very time absorbing job. Is there any variable to make sure that the xref is always send to back in the layout space.
p.s i'm using Autocad LT 2010

When I go to open most of them the dim come up correct until it regens then they change to a wierd scale factor, I can highlight all of them and change back to scale 1 and save but when i come back into it they do the same thing???
View 3 Replies View RelatedNearly all our drawings are done in model space with a black screen and my "Drawing Window colors|2D model space" dialogue box shows that scheme.
I have just opened a file done by one of our (recently no longer employed by us) draghtsmen and it has a grey background and when I go to the dialogue box it shows as 3D parallel projection.
I have modified the colours of the 3D parallel projection to give me what I want but I would prefer to know how to get the file back to 2D model space. The fact this guy managed it on one file suggest that there may be others lurking. How did he do it in the first place. Most of his drawings are displaying how I want them to.
I changed the mode of a RGB image to HSB color model then copy and paste hue channel as a layer to the original RGB image ...After changing the blend mode of the hue layer to the hue blend mode..I can't see my original RGB image.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am newish to AutoCAD having just gone through a Lynda tutorial.
When i open my layout i see my drawing as a very small drawing at the bottom. When i expand the whole layout i see shapes which re related in that its the basic shape of the drawings but that's it. No lines at all. In the Lynda tutorial all seemed so easy. I am using metric. I have uploaded the file.
I work with a 0.1 text height (in the model tab). I want to have in the layout tab a 1.5 text height always. That is when the scale is 1:200, 1/50, etc.
What do i have to do to achieve that? Maybe annotation scale.
I'm new to AutoCAD and have made a 3D model of a specific mounting bracket.
Now that I have the 3D model, I want to 'translate' it to a 2d layout so I can put some dimensions in it and bring the drawing to a local mechanical engineer. Here's the file of the drawing:

i downloaded the trial version of 2k9, on a win xp machine, with the main interest in trying out this new feature...unfortunately i have yet been successfull in using it as autocad either locks-up durring the export or end up with an "unhandled exeption...eDegenerateGeometry"...
i'm also attaching the details of such an exception (and i probably should report this to autodesk for their investigations)...

I have received a drawing that is only showing in the first layout tab on a contractor's template. The drawing is in a viewport of course. The drawing does not show in the model space.
1. Is it possible to send a drawing only in the Layout tab?
2. Is it possible for me to do something to view the drawing in model space and how is it done?
3. Could it simply be a compatibility issue between the contractor's.
May i know why some of the layers appear in model but missing in my layout drawing ? Is it had been frozen ? How can i unfreeze it ?

The program can either copy the layout to the modelspace and save or copy the layout to a new file. Either way is fine. These are old MDT files that we are moving into the Vault, but Vault doesn't like them and the drafters are using AutoCAD in modelspace to revise them.

I can use layouts tabs, I can change the background color to same as model tab and all its ok.
However I'm unable to set scale to have text and annotation with a "human" size (that is, thinking on my screen and not on the paper).

I am using File>Export Layout to Model... command.
The drawing exported in half scale means a circle with 10mm diameter dimension on it exported as a circle with 5mm diameter But the dimension on the circle remains as 10mm!!!
How does this happen and how can I fix it?
I clicked "Hide Model and Layout Tabs" to see what it would do, and now I can't get them back. Not only did I lose them in that drawing, I lost the tabs in EVERY drawing and EVERY version of C3D. I googled the problem and every forum says the same things, and I've tried them without success:
Options >> Display >> Layout elements >> Display Layout and Model Tabs
CUI >> Workspace Properties >> Model/Layout Tabs >> On
I'm lacking a couple of icons on the lower tray to the right of the Model/Paper button.
The baffling thing is that I've lost the tabs on ALL versions of C3D. Is there a magical command line entry that will bring back my beloved tabs?

I couldn’t figure out how the label size is controlled at the layout mode. Please, have a look on the two attached screenshots that shows the label size in model and layout modes.
I want to export a layout as a dwg file. Why do I want to do this? I got a drawing, and they put some stuff on the layout, so I want to export the layout so I can then work in the new file in the model area? Do you get what I mean?
Also, If I make a layout, I put my Firm Logo and information in the layout. If I send this to another firm, which isnt using Autocad, they than can only see the model area, so If I can export it into 1 file, in the model area, they cann see the whole thing.
Restore my Model and Layout Tabs at the bottom of the Drawing area. I went to Options/Display Tab, and under the pannel of "Layouts elements" the box of "Display Layout and Model Tabs" is checked, yet, I can't witness this diplayed. Even if I have to toggle something to make it hidden and displayed, where is the place for that? See the pictures of my settings and the Drawing area.
