Size of labels in model and layout modes,
I couldn’t figure out how the label size is controlled at the layout mode. Please, have a look on the two attached screenshots that shows the label size in model and layout modes.

In steel structure drawings, it is very common to have cross sections at particular locations as well as having details at specific joint.

Having a sign (circular or rectangular) on the original drawing to show what each viewport represents on the model space (attached). This feature is already available (for example) in the ArcGIS software, i.e, each viewports is indicated by a sign on the original map to show where we are in that viewport
Having a cross section sign that represents at which location the cross section is taken (attached)
I’m not talking here about 3D model. All what I want is to show what each viewport represent on the mother drawing and also to show where the cross section is taken.

Switching between paper/model modes in case of overlapping viewports,I got 4 viewports (screenshot is attached)
My issue here is that I couldn’t switch between the paper/model modes for the inside viewports! This can be done only for the “biggest” viewport (that bounds the other viewports)
Then how can I switch between the paper/model modes for viewport number 2, for example?Right clicking a particular viewport (attached) doesn’t give option to do so!
I have created an alignment, and have the stationing labels on a different layer than the actual alignment linework. I have frozen the layer with the alignment on it in a viewport, but not the layer with the labels. However, when I regen, the labels disappear. I need to have the labels visible, and the linework off.

I am using Style: Swis721 BT-Italic. I use that style in the profile for labels and in plan view. When I plot out the sheet the profile view plots good but the text that was aligned in the plan view is very bold.

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t figure out how to print a drawing (attached) from the lay out. What I got is a very crowded drawing as shown in the screenshots below.
I wanted to print my drawings (contour, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, etc.) in an A4 with a scale of 1/1000 or 1/1300. Then what should be:
The annotation scale?
The viewport scale?
The plot scale?
What did I get very crowded drawing when I tried to print from the layout?

I have a number of problems with alignment labels showing up in layouts that I don't want to show or want to show up differently,. Is there any way to label an alignment in paper space (layout)? (or any other type of label).
View 3 Replies View RelatedCIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

When I go to open most of them the dim come up correct until it regens then they change to a wierd scale factor, I can highlight all of them and change back to scale 1 and save but when i come back into it they do the same thing???

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am newish to AutoCAD having just gone through a Lynda tutorial.
When i open my layout i see my drawing as a very small drawing at the bottom. When i expand the whole layout i see shapes which re related in that its the basic shape of the drawings but that's it. No lines at all. In the Lynda tutorial all seemed so easy. I am using metric. I have uploaded the file.
I work with a 0.1 text height (in the model tab). I want to have in the layout tab a 1.5 text height always. That is when the scale is 1:200, 1/50, etc.
What do i have to do to achieve that? Maybe annotation scale.
I'm new to AutoCAD and have made a 3D model of a specific mounting bracket.
Now that I have the 3D model, I want to 'translate' it to a 2d layout so I can put some dimensions in it and bring the drawing to a local mechanical engineer. Here's the file of the drawing:

i downloaded the trial version of 2k9, on a win xp machine, with the main interest in trying out this new feature...unfortunately i have yet been successfull in using it as autocad either locks-up durring the export or end up with an "unhandled exeption...eDegenerateGeometry"...
i'm also attaching the details of such an exception (and i probably should report this to autodesk for their investigations)...
Ineed te see the layout in the same time when i am drawing in the model.is there away to do that?And can i make a link from the model guide to certain layout ( to see more details for example)?

I have received a drawing that is only showing in the first layout tab on a contractor's template. The drawing is in a viewport of course. The drawing does not show in the model space.
1. Is it possible to send a drawing only in the Layout tab?
2. Is it possible for me to do something to view the drawing in model space and how is it done?
3. Could it simply be a compatibility issue between the contractor's.
May i know why some of the layers appear in model but missing in my layout drawing ? Is it had been frozen ? How can i unfreeze it ?

The program can either copy the layout to the modelspace and save or copy the layout to a new file. Either way is fine. These are old MDT files that we are moving into the Vault, but Vault doesn't like them and the drafters are using AutoCAD in modelspace to revise them.

I can use layouts tabs, I can change the background color to same as model tab and all its ok.
However I'm unable to set scale to have text and annotation with a "human" size (that is, thinking on my screen and not on the paper).

I am using File>Export Layout to Model... command.
The drawing exported in half scale means a circle with 10mm diameter dimension on it exported as a circle with 5mm diameter But the dimension on the circle remains as 10mm!!!
How does this happen and how can I fix it?
I clicked "Hide Model and Layout Tabs" to see what it would do, and now I can't get them back. Not only did I lose them in that drawing, I lost the tabs in EVERY drawing and EVERY version of C3D. I googled the problem and every forum says the same things, and I've tried them without success:
Options >> Display >> Layout elements >> Display Layout and Model Tabs
CUI >> Workspace Properties >> Model/Layout Tabs >> On
I'm lacking a couple of icons on the lower tray to the right of the Model/Paper button.
The baffling thing is that I've lost the tabs on ALL versions of C3D. Is there a magical command line entry that will bring back my beloved tabs?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to export a layout as a dwg file. Why do I want to do this? I got a drawing, and they put some stuff on the layout, so I want to export the layout so I can then work in the new file in the model area? Do you get what I mean?
Also, If I make a layout, I put my Firm Logo and information in the layout. If I send this to another firm, which isnt using Autocad, they than can only see the model area, so If I can export it into 1 file, in the model area, they cann see the whole thing.
Restore my Model and Layout Tabs at the bottom of the Drawing area. I went to Options/Display Tab, and under the pannel of "Layouts elements" the box of "Display Layout and Model Tabs" is checked, yet, I can't witness this diplayed. I did ths after bind all the X-ref files and explode them all then with "Export layout to new model" command from the right click menu on Layout tab. But the file is slightly big, the file has more than about 105 layout , the AutoCAD gets hang and after about 10-15 mins it shows a dialogue box contents"Unhandelled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue the application will ignore this and attempt to continue" I clicked on "Continue" and a file has been created with 0 bites.And that file cannot be opened.
