Nov 12, 2013I clicked "Hide Model and Layout Tabs" to see what it would do, and now I can't get them back. Not only did I lose them in that drawing, I lost the tabs in EVERY drawing and EVERY version of C3D. I googled the problem and every forum says the same things, and I've tried them without success:
Options >> Display >> Layout elements >> Display Layout and Model Tabs
CUI >> Workspace Properties >> Model/Layout Tabs >> On
I'm lacking a couple of icons on the lower tray to the right of the Model/Paper button.
The baffling thing is that I've lost the tabs on ALL versions of C3D. Is there a magical command line entry that will bring back my beloved tabs?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Model And Layout Tabs Disappeared?
May 31, 2013Restore my Model and Layout Tabs at the bottom of the Drawing area. I went to Options/Display Tab, and under the pannel of "Layouts elements" the box of "Display Layout and Model Tabs" is checked, yet, I can't witness this diplayed. Even if I have to toggle something to make it hidden and displayed, where is the place for that? See the pictures of my settings and the Drawing area.

Dec 12, 2012My group and I are getting an infrequent but annoying problem with Model Documentation (MD) generated views in paperspace layout tabs. We all on autocad 2013, with sp1.1 installed on x64 machines.
We are seeing objects/ blocks showing in the MD views (viewbase created) in the layout that are no longer in model space. One common factor in this is that these objects seem to always be externally referenced (xref) files that have been either unloaded or completely detached (both cases purges preformed afterwards to wipe any remaining blocks made no difference). In this latest case the ghost objects show up twice (we needed 2 of the same xref) at what appears to be the correct old coordinates.
We have no work around for this and when this occurs we either have to revert to an older version from vault or create a new dwg, port all information over and recreate all views. The interesting thing about this problem is that if we revert to an older version from vault, the ghosts do not reappear/ reoccur at the same commands they appeared at previously.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Usually Visual Style Behavior When Switching Between Model And Layout Tabs
Aug 20, 2010I have just started working with Architecture 2011, so perhaps there is some strange issue at work here, but I haven't come across it previous releases. Whenever I switch from model tab (in 2D wireframe) to a layout tab and then back to model space, the visual style automatically switches itself to "Wireframe" or "3D Parallel Project", instead staying 2D Wireframe. It is highly annoying as I have to hit the 2D Wireframe button on the Visual Style Menu everytime a switch. This also occurs everytime a hit the Save button. It won't stay put in the visual style that it should.

May 17, 2013I have been using AutoCAD 2014 for a couple of weeks now and there seems to be a problem when switching from the model tab to the layouts.
This is the problem i have: I draft my plans in model space as usual, once i finish that, i want to go to the layout tab
where the titleblock is and modify its attributes. When switching, AutoCAD crashes, it allows me to save a recovery file but it closes the program completley.
I have submited the error report to AutoDesk but i have not seen any other comments about it.

Apr 26, 2012I would like to be able to consolidate my layout tabs. I have a drawing of a factory that is of some size and the plant is continually growing. I like having all of my information in one place as the drawings (one .dwg file) change. AutoCAD is not capable of doing so? I'm not willing to break up into separate dwg files either.

In the template that I have created only one layout tab is available and if I create a new drawing according to that template after startup, only one layout tab is available. Jul 26, 2010I've created a new sheet set with some existing drawing files. These files have several layout tabs in each drawing. The Sheet Set Manager (SSM) seems to import the layout tabs in random order, not in the order they appear on the drawing, nor in alphabetical or numerical order. In addition, the SSM imports and numbers all of my drawings in reverse order. Any system variable setting, or some other property setting somewhere that will change this back to ascending order?

Occasionally, clicking the Model or other layout tab results in no action, as if I'm not clicking on it.
All other controls (within and external to C3D) function normally so it's not a mouse hardware issue.
It will usually correct itself if I "restore down" the main application window, then maximize it again.
The -layout command is a workaround too.

Mar 15, 2012I have a big drawing and some Mtext from a text layer just disapeared from model space. If i switch to a Layout the text is visible in the layout view and I can select it in a floating viewport, but when I switch back to model again I do not see it.
I added new text in model where missing and now in the Layout I have duplicates, the old one and the new one.
If i try to copy/paste the missing text from a previous version of the drawing, the text just doesn't paste, is not visible.

May 10, 2013Is it possible to have model space geometry print through a watermark in the layout? My watermark consists of mtext with an arial font placed manually in the layout. It is on it's own layer which is set to print at Shade 40 (plot style tables). Draworder works with other layout objects but not the geometry from the model space viewport. My watermark covers the model space geometry so it is not visible when printed. Is this possible?

Nov 6, 2012When I'm scrolling through my Layout tabs using the arrows on the bottom left of the screen, if I'm scrolling right I have to click the arrow at a certain speed or it gets hung up on one tab and won't scroll any further. If I'm scrolling left, it only lets me scroll as far as the active tab and then it fades both the "left" and "skip to end left" arrows and won't let me scroll at all. And both directions, unless I'm clicking very slowly on the arrows, instead of scrolling it highlights the name of the tab as though I've clicked "Rename".

It looks like it highlights the tab for a nanosecond then crosshairs appear with an empty command line.
I eventually renamed one tab by selecting rename like fifty-eleven times.

Feb 28, 2013For some reason our layout tabs keep re-arranging themselves. All of a sudden our sheet 2 ( or what ever) is between tabs for sheets 35 & 36 (or where ever it wants to be).
we use tabs because 45 sheets of images require never ending scrolling. the current tab is never the image shown....they always start at the 1st tab?
when you are on sheet 40 and want to go to 44.....scroll .

Oct 18, 2012I have this drawing with over 200 layout tabs. (I do shop drawings for a cabinet/countertop manufacturer, and we do one drawing per project.) Here's the thing... I need to eliminate pages 1, 6, 14, 20, 24, 30, 40, 44, 47, 56, 61, 64, 73, 78, 81, 90, 95, and 101 because they are now NOT a part of the project.
In my title block, I have the layout name as a field, so it says "PG [layout tab name]/224" which is needed because there's a table of contents for the pages that are printed.
Is there any easy eay to renumber all the tabs, or am I stuck re-numbering every single one?
