View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I’ve only got the free version of Google Sketchup ive had to export an add location terrain via 3ds Max and then into Revit as a DXF and then convert to topo surface. This is laborious but it looks good once imported into Revit. The only problem I now have is that this topo surface could be anywhere in the world? How do I attach its true coordinates so I can link other Revit and CAD files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Revit Architecture 2012 and am trying to export a project file in a .fbx format to start using Autodesk Showcase which I just downloaded a free trial for. For whatever reason, Revit won't let me export any file in a .fbx format. Instead of being able to click on that as an option, it's greyed out. Is there an update I need to download or an fbx plug-in I need to get to utilize the fbx exporting function??
PS: I've put myself in the 3D view which I know can be an issue of why the fbx export function is greyed out.

I have been getting some odd errors, sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I will get the error, close the program, re-open, and it will export fine. Other times I try that and still get the same error with no luck.
I need to get these into .NWC files, and doing it from Revit holds more infomation than trying to import them in Navisworks.
Attached is a picture of the error message Revit is giving me...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI exported a Bim model (IFC format) from Butler Advantage XP. When I open the IFC in Revit it says that it can't create blend and can't regenerate family. When I continue, by deleting the elements, the model is without the roof on the building. Is there a way to prevent this from happening before I export it from the other program, or a way to fix it once I import it into Revit?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to export a schedule from Revit to Excel,
I’m wondering if there is a way to export schedule from Revit to Excel..
Currently when I "export to Cad format" "dwg" the resulting file is created with the wrong date and time.
I am exporting a view of a floor plan with the naming convension "Automatic - Short" and the "Export views on sheets and links as external references" turned off. When i proceed the resulting file has a date of June 25th 2013 at 4:46pm...today is October 16th , 2013 at 9:08am...according to my computer.
I've tried multiple times over the last couple weeks and have had the same result. The weird part is if I switch to the "Automatic - Long (Specify prefix)" or "Manual (Specify name)" naming convension the date ends up being correct.
The fact that the naming convension doing this and not any of the other settings makes me think it is a Revit issue and not my computer.
Everytime when I try to export a view or walkthrough in revit 2013, I get a blank image or avi. I do nothing specia. I just use the standard settings that revit has, the same way I did in revit 2012, where it works.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI already have a revit model of a building with the areas identified like "room A", "room B", etc. I exported it to FBX and opened with Unity but the information about the rooms was not there (I am assuming FBX format does not save that information)
I might be wrong but I beleive IFC format saves this information. The problem is that Unity does not import IFC files and the file seems way too complicated to make my own parser to read it. I was wondering if there is a lib or something that I could use to visualize the 3D model without losing the rooms identification.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project incorporating field inspections into a Revit model. I have a model built, and I'm trying to export information regarding each structural element (family, type & instance, dimensions, etc) into an 'inspection sheet' (excel spreadsheet or text file). After the field inspection, my goal is to update the Revit model with inspection results. For example, damage to a beam might include a reduced cross sectional area/reduced moment of inertia.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a larger Revit file that has linked in models (mutiple buildings - each bldg is its own model)
I need a COMPLETE file for Navisworks...
When I go to Revit, and try to export to NWC file, it starts the export process... about 40 minutes in (YES, 40 mins, it just loads and loads and loads) I will get an error message that "Revit has stopped responding"
This is now the 3rd time today I have tried this with no success. I also tried loading into Navisworks directly (Nav 2013) but will not read the files properly and bring them in together.
I know Revit 2012 is capable of exporting linked models to a single NWC file... however my computer does't seem to like it. I even just sat and read a book and did not internet serach or running any other programs at the time....
I NEED THIS TO WORK
Exporting each individual Revit model to NWC and recompling them in Navisworks IS NOT AN OPTION.
I need to export this large linked Revit file as ONE nwc file.. I know it CAN be done...
My laptop is fairly newer and has like 8gb of ram, so that shouldn't be the problem, is it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Revit model of rework to an existing building. I am working from Revit Architecture 2011. When I export this model to AutoCAD, I am getting inconsistancies of my new work walls. Some of my new walls are coming in ACAD with solid hatch, others have no hatch at all. At this point I do not care if all my new walls have any hatch or not, as long as the heavier lineweights come through to make them different from existing walls and that they are all consistant. I've been searching on this for a few days now and have come up with nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn some of our systems (most) when exporting a 3D view to DWG with ACIS Solids makes Revit 2014 terminate whitout any dialogue or information en event log what so ever. When changing solid type to polymesh the export works fine. The file is created in the crashing scenario but is only a few kilobytes in size, as opposed to to above 33 MB file another workstation creates.
All systems use windows 8.1 64-bit, have 32GB RAM (actually the one were the export works only has 24GB). Revit 2014 Build 20131024_2115(x64).
I have uninstalled Revit 2014 and reinstalled whitout success on one of the stations where the bug occurs.
MS Access database that can export Family Tables? Or knows of a 3rd party application that all the type information can be houses in a database, and the family table's TXT is just an export. The family tables we create are nemorus, and lengthly family tabels, and Excel just is not cutting the mustard.
Or would Autodesk ever include this in Revit?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm sitting here with a projekt, where it would be great to be able to put a specific code on some specific materials. So we are able to export it to a calculation program and use the material parameters.
To give a quick example, i have this 400mm thick wall, with 200mm concrete and 200mm bricks. If i give this wall a code, a keynote or a custom parameter, im able to export it without any problems. But my wall will be shown as one wall in my calculation program, and that makes sense ofc.
But is it somehow possible to make a specific code for each layer of material? Lets say i wanna make one price for my bricks, and one price for the concrete. To do that i need to know the specific amount of concrete and so on with the bricks.
I know i would be able to find this exact amount, by making a schedule of the wall material, and then sort it by name and area or volume. But these values is kinda dead in a way, since i cant export them directly to my calculation program.
So what would be sweet would be a way to code the specific materials or layers in my walls, so i could export them as two diffrent elements, and make two diffrent prices. One for the concrete and one for the bricks.
how can I export the Color Scheme Values List.
I do not want to Transfer Between Projects. Just want to have it as a list so that people can follow what Room names are available for use.
