I have an empy Revit model that has view pre-configured for exporting. The model has several linked Revit files that I want to export to NWC, but I get an error message that there is not suitable geometry, even though I can see the geometry. I have "convert linked files" checked.

I have made sure the file is ungrouped or has any compound paths or colours. Opening it in Autocad 2010 still converts the DWG file into hundreds of short little straight lines!
The file is needed to laser cut out an aluminium shape using SolidWorks 2008 (Metal soft)?
Formats they can handle are: DWG, DXF, IGES, IGA
Is there a way to export only the geometry to .FBX or some other format, and then read it back into Max to make sure that only the geometry survives? Or is there a way to do it in maxscript?
I have used maxscript to set all geometry textures to null, but my project is still a mess.
We just noticed that the imported cad geometry in a Mass family will not cut in a floor plan view which contains a plan region. Regardless of the location or height of the plan region.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to Join First and Second Floor walls that are interrupted by floor framing. I've separated sheathing and siding layers and extended these over to the lower wall. All looks good, except for the joint line. In section view, I use Join Geometry tool and it works, the joint is gone. However on Elevation and 3D viiews the line is still there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am semi-new to Revit and am trying to make a go of it. I am trying to make a window, that looks like my AutoCAD window. So I open the Window Family.rft to start creating. I can adjust my wall thickness to match my brick wall, I can set the frame to the void that is already there.....my problem comes when I want to put on the brick mould. This overhangs the window frame and thus is outside the pre-ordained void. When I try to make a void extrusion to cut back the outside face of the wall and allow the brick mould to show, it will not work - only the originally supplied void (that comes with the template) works.
Revit will not allow me to "Cut Geometry" saying "A Family cannot have an opening and cut in the same host". If I set the brick mould inside the supplied opening, then the inside face will have a gap between the drywall and the window frame.
I need to resolve the corner condition where two boards intersect. I am not able to create a void in order to cut the corner for the geometry. I would like to shape more than one side of the board and make it rounded. How do I edit the different sides of the geometry?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to import one Revit file into another. When I try to link the file I get a dialogue box that says:
"The import geometry will not be visible in the view using current settings. The Oringin of the import will be centered on the origin of the model instead. You can view the import in any view where its geometry is within the extents."
For this it sounds like the imported model is way off to the side or way up high or low but even in a view that I increase the extents to maximum i can't see the object.
I've tried "center to centre" and "origin to origin". I've check in the visual graphic and can't see anything turned off.
The file i am imported ia a structural model export from Tekla that I imported into a Revit and cleaned up. Everything looks fine when i open the file on it's own.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf you could modify attached background image so it would be more suitable for a repeating background image for a website? I have been already trying to do that by myself for hours (duplicating layers, flipping them horizontally/vertically, offset...), but how to realize that well. The main problem is that gradients and textures on borders are way to rough and it is really noticeable when so small background gets repeated for many times. On top of that, corners have dark shadows which make everything even more noticeable. Please note that attached image should be resized for about 3 times, I'm just posting original image which I have to work with.

A while ago, I had seen one that would simply triger when part was checked in or saved. It would check if the material feild was utilzed or forgotten at Default.

I am a new Mac user - recently insalled Photoshop elements 9 and tried to import my photos which are all in iPhoto at the moment into the organiser. I went via the 'Get files > import from iPhoto' menu and I keep getting a messsage tab saying 'no suitable media'.
I clicked the share in iPhoto and also tried via the getting files directly route (you only get the 'iPhoto library' that way not the individual files - any combo of clicking wont seem to let me see the files there).
Can anyone tell me how I can make a background suitable for those who use 800x600 and those who use 1024x768 pixels?

Do you think I am able to bring down the file size with another file format? Or compressing it some way?
If so, any advice would be great... I'd like to make it as fast to load as possible.
Please see attached image (I have tried to attach the part file but file size is to large to upload). I have created a sheet metal part, then converted to a solid component to utilize the bend tool. The actual part will need to overlap at the ends and will be joined using spot welds. I would like to be able to illustrate the overlap in the inventor model if possible but how to achieve this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I’ve only got the free version of Google Sketchup ive had to export an add location terrain via 3ds Max and then into Revit as a DXF and then convert to topo surface. This is laborious but it looks good once imported into Revit. The only problem I now have is that this topo surface could be anywhere in the world? How do I attach its true coordinates so I can link other Revit and CAD files?

For whatever reason, Revit won't let me export any file in a .fbx format. Instead of being able to click on that as an option, it's greyed out. Is there an update I need to download or an fbx plug-in I need to get to utilize the fbx exporting function??
PS: I've put myself in the 3D view which I know can be an issue of why the fbx export function is greyed out.

I have been getting some odd errors, sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I will get the error, close the program, re-open, and it will export fine. Other times I try that and still get the same error with no luck.
I need to get these into .NWC files, and doing it from Revit holds more infomation than trying to import them in Navisworks.

I have a complete CD set to export from Revit to DWGs and aside from the complete lack of customization needed for correct NCS layer mapping, my current issue is the company logos on the title blocks exporting as separate files. I am in Revit 2013.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI exported a Bim model (IFC format) from Butler Advantage XP. When I open the IFC in Revit it says that it can't create blend and can't regenerate family. When I continue, by deleting the elements, the model is without the roof on the building. Is there a way to prevent this from happening before I export it from the other program, or a way to fix it once I import it into Revit?

I’m wondering if there is a way to export schedule from Revit to Excel..
Currently when I "export to Cad format" "dwg" the resulting file is created with the wrong date and time.
I am exporting a view of a floor plan with the naming convension "Automatic - Short" and the "Export views on sheets and links as external references" turned off. When i proceed the resulting file has a date of June 25th 2013 at 4:46pm...today is October 16th , 2013 at 9:08am...according to my computer.
I've tried multiple times over the last couple weeks and have had the same result.The weird part is if I switch to the "Automatic - Long (Specify prefix)" or "Manual (Specify name)" naming convension the date ends up being correct.
The fact that the naming convension doing this and not any of the other settings makes me think it is a Revit issue and not my computer.
