So that next time I open up this view, only these 6 categories checked in the filter instead of re-doing the filtering again?

May 17, 2012I'm trying to select two specific types of blocks from a drawing so that I can create layouts for each one of the pairs of blocks in my drawing. Basically, one block is the outline of the piece of the drawing and the second contains information about the drawing. I would like to select all of the outline blocks and then create a selection to get the second block which is inside the bounds of the first block.
I'm not sure how to create a set of typed values to do this. Here is my code so far which sets up a filter to get the first block and then for each of the blocks that it finds, it would select the block with all of the information which is where I am having problems. I don't know how to create a filter based upon location of the block.

Feb 8, 2012I converted a drawing in pdf format into dxf. I'm using Autocad 2012 to edit the file. The dxf conversion is good, but of course there is no difference between the diffent kind of lines.
I would like to select all lines which have an orientation of 30° with the horizontal and put them into a new layer. Is there a way to do that ? I though about using a filter.
Then I will edit the properties oh those lines (color, thickness, type....).

Jul 28, 2012I have determine that my AutoCad 2009 will allow me to drag/drop layers to an existing Group Layer Filter, but it will not allow me to right click on the Group Filter>Select Layers>Add. Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".

I want to build a selection set based on whether it is CW, HWS or HWR. Right now I have a routine to retrieve the string by using ENTSEL. In other words if I want to use the line of text for Cold Water I have to select it.
I'd like to be able to window them all and filter the SS for only the string containing CW and conversly HWS and HWR. SSGET function filter.

Aug 7, 2012I use a lot of Group Layer Filters so I can turn things on/off quickly. My problem is I have been creating my Layer Filter Group by right clicking on the Layer Group Filter>going to Selection>then click Add> then go back to my drawing or Layout tab and select all of the layers I need then click enter. One day my AutoCad would not let me do that anymore, and even after I click on enter it gives me an error message saying the command is still active. Now from my Layer Properties Manager I can select any layer and drag/drop it into any filter and it works, but I really need to be able to select things within the model space or paper of each layout tabs.

I can apply the Vanishing Point filter to a jpeg still and set/apply the planes but the Export For After Effects (.vpe) command in the drop-down menu within the VP window is greyed out. I understood this filter is a feature of the Extended version. why this is disabled?

Aug 3, 2012I try to isolate just the ceiling elements using the filter tool.
I found out that if the ceiling elements are in certain model groups, those can't be isolated and won't show up.
What's the best way to deal with it? Do I have to ungroup them before filtering?
Revit :: Door Jambs Not Showing With Show All Phase Filter
Feb 20, 2013I'm creating a floor plan of a simple remodel to show cutting a new door into an existing wall. The plan has ALL the info on it; existing, demo, and new. I have applied the Show All phase filter. The door jamb lines of the new opening don't show up (see attachment). I can add detail lines to take care of the issue but then these have to be managed.
I am not interested in creating seperate demo and new views for such a simple project.

Revit :: Model Group Selection Not Available In View?
May 3, 2013I have an issue with a view. I am unable to select my model groups with in a specific view. When I go to select a group all that is selected is an item in that group, not the entire group. There must be a setting that is turned off, as other views I can grab entire groups. Currently I have to open a 3-D view and select the group I wish to edit or change, instead of being able to select that same group on the 5th floor of my building. ( I can select the same group on the 4th floor, but I don't see any diference between the two floors?)
We are using Revit 2012
