We are trying to import Point Cloud files having extension .fls into Revit 2012 but are unable to do so. We have attached the screen shots of the messages that we are getting while importing. We have the trial version of Revit Architecture 2012 and need to import the files so that we can convert them to rvt files...
I'm trying to use a point cloud in Revit, and I can't make Snap to Point Cloud work.
The "Snap to Point Cloud" box in Manage/Snaps is checked, but there is no snap available when I eg. try to insert a wall in plan view.
I use Revit Architecture 2012, Build 20110916_2132(x64) Update Release 2 with Point Cloud Hotfix installed. The point cloud is indexed in Revit from a .pts file.
When we use Point Cloud Feature Extraction for Autodesk® Revit® 2012 in our machine in a central file with the pcg file then there is a Run time error shown in revit. But if we work in a single file then the problem does not occur. How we ovecome this situation?
In revit 2013 I have used the point cloud (exported from Faro Scene and imported in revit 2013) without any problems. This time (another project) I have deleted some points with Recap of the cloud after edit with faro scene. Now I have imported the *.rcs files into revit 2014 and I have some serious problems..With diffenernt zoom levels some areas of the point cloud disappear. On the picture is only one pointcloud visible. If I click on it, it dont look like one, but it is really only one. And the disappearing areas are rectangles. The same problem is on floor plans. I have spent the last couple of hours researching posts back to 2008 regarding inserting inserting a point cloud into Revit at the correct coordinates. I have two files (DXF and PCG) that are in the same coordinate system. They overlay exactly in AutoCAD. Why I see posts back to 2008 with no resolutions on this same topic? Also explain to me why a file indexed in AutoCAD 2013 is not compatable with Revit 2013.
I will start using imported .pcg files for point clouds and I found an extension that AutoDesk has (point cloud feature extraction for Revit) but it is no longer available. I was wondering if there was anyway that I could get it so I can use it. Point clouds are difficult to work with right now in Revit and it looks like this extension will work.
It was in Feb - March 2012. I was then using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. I had faced a problem of getting ground data for a large surface by using satellite imageries processed by some government wing of USA (NASA?), have lost track of it.
I'm hoping this could be a quick fix without completely reinstalling CAD.
I jammed too much LiDAR data into my Index file for point cloud data, and now I can not even open it. Even new drawings are trying to open the overall index with everything in it.
What I want to do is just delete the whole thing and start fresh again, but not sure how to do that. If I could open it once I could start deleting stuff from it, but it is too large to even open.
how to match up certain points. I have imported 2 point clouds and have tried to use the 'align' tool to specify three points from the source object (cloud) and three points from the destination object (cloud). When doing this, it does not properly align them. The point cloud makes it difficult to select the exact point I would like to align, since there may not be a point at that exact location, but close to it. Does AutoCAD require the points in alignment to match up perfectly or is it capable of doing a best fit?
Also, is AutoCAD capable of creating a solid 3D piece from the point cloud? I would like to take all of my points and make a smooth object.
I am no longer able to import any type of file into Revit. It doesn't matter if it is a CAD file, Image file, or a new Family. When I click the import or load button the program appears to freeze and no dialog box appears. I can hit escape and its back to normal. I tried seeing if the dialog box was hidden behind all my open programs but I can't seem to locate it anywhere.
I am unable to import this planter box i created into the project I am working with. I have attached the planter box family file (rfa) I am working on and and a screen shot image (jpeg) of the planter box once it's imported into a project. I used another planter box template to create my family. Perhaps the file path is not set up correctly. Insert this family file into a project file.
I'm trying to import/ open IFC files to Revit, I have 6 diffrent IFC files but when I try to open/import in revit, nothing happens, not even an error message.
I'm relatively new to AutCAD map 3d but I've used arcGIS a while back.
I have existing roads, towns etc data that are already set to UTM 17. I want to import ascii point coordinates (from a comma delimited file) into the file. I can import the ascii coordinates as points fine (easting and northing), however the points come in as the absolute coordinates rather than geometric coordinates. I already set the files for right geographic projections. Beyond manually inputing the coordinates into the coordinate tracker, is there a way to import the coordinates form the file set for the geometric coordinates?
I have collected point data for the positions of trees using PocketGIS software. The software produces a csv. file with the Northings and eastings of each point surveyed to which are attached a number of other attributes (e.g. tree tag number, height, species etc.).
Is it possible to import and plot these points directly into AutoCAD?
Can some or all of the attributes be included (i.e. it would be very useful if the positions could be plotted together with the tag number)?
With the AutoCAD Revit 2014 I am unable to open DWG file. It gives me a failed to open error. I have attached screen shot below. We did download DWG TruView 2014.
I have installed SP3 for Max Design. I checked the about box and it says its SP3..The help file says you will find the point cloud command under the Create > Geometry panel. But I see nothing.
How do you get a point cloud in? Have I missed something. I can't open it directly. I can import it, I can reference it and the menu option is missing.
I executed Edit in Storm Sewers to work on the Pipe Network in Civil 3D. I made some changes in Storm Sewers, now I want to Import back to Civil 3D.
Nothing is happening in Civil 3D when I try to Import with either of the choices, picking Overwrite or to Create a new pipe network. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have attached the drawing file and the STM file.
I have tried to import a DWG-file to my drawing. But it does not work. The XREF-file just appears as dots on the screen. The DWG-file I try to import has another UCS. Is that the problem?
I can do it the opposite way, import the file with the normal World-UCS into the file the different UCS.
I'm trying to create a new local file but the option is greyed out (not available). We're using Revit Server 2013 and we have one Central Server and two Accelerators in different locations. This issue is affecting only one of the two locations.
On my current project I get the error message "Software problem" when attempting to open the project file. This problem began last night and affects the project file and all automatic backup files of my current project. It does not seem to be affecting other projects.
Loading point clouds. When you load the rcs file..I mean, you don't get a message saying it's loading. You don't get a twirling, wait for it, icon.
So then you start zooming in and out. Panning around. Clicking zoom extents.Sometimes you eventually see the point cloud appear. Sometimes you don't. I think I don't when I zoom and pan around too soon.
But I don't know when it's too soon because......NOTHING HAPPENS when you load the file.
I'm using Autodesk Map 3D 2006, it's a new install. I am trying to import an ESRI .shp file with the object data, but have only been able to successfully import it once. When I try again (even after restarting the program), I keep getting 0 objects processed and no linework imported, even with new drawings. I also got 2 error messages at one point: 1900 - about having coincident points and a can't transform object error.
