I have tried to import a DWG-file to my drawing. But it does not work. The XREF-file just appears as dots on the screen. The DWG-file I try to import has another UCS. Is that the problem?
I can do it the opposite way, import the file with the normal World-UCS into the file the different UCS.
I executed Edit in Storm Sewers to work on the Pipe Network in Civil 3D. I made some changes in Storm Sewers, now I want to Import back to Civil 3D.
Nothing is happening in Civil 3D when I try to Import with either of the choices, picking Overwrite or to Create a new pipe network. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have attached the drawing file and the STM file.
I'm using Autodesk Map 3D 2006, it's a new install. I am trying to import an ESRI .shp file with the object data, but have only been able to successfully import it once. When I try again (even after restarting the program), I keep getting 0 objects processed and no linework imported, even with new drawings. I also got 2 error messages at one point: 1900 - about having coincident points and a can't transform object error.
I am trying to import some .dgn files into Autocad Architecture 2013 but I get a message that reads "This DGN file does not contain any models that can be imported into this drawing". I tried importing the files to Revit Structure 2013 as well without success. I have been able to import the files into Rhino 3d and that seems to work fairly well.
This year we started working with the program AutoCAD at school. To make things easier we need to import the same profile as our teacher. The teacher gave us already the .arg file in our mail. I am working with an Apple computer, a MacBook Pro. Everybody found out how to import the file ( on a Windows ) and how to start working with AutoCAD like we have seen in class. But I am still having problems importing the profile. How to import the profile when using a Mac?
I'm having some difficulty with a new issue that is occuring:I have a 3D model that I'm attempting to render. It has rendered recently with no issues. Now, this morning, I get the following error message:
Unable to create output file - Make sure destination directory is writable and that the disk is not full. Rendering aborted. The drive is only approx. 30% full. I've closed/reopened the file to no avail. Also, I've closed/restarted ACAD.It always seems that AutoCAD acts goofy whenever I have a deadline.
We are trying to import Point Cloud files having extension .fls into Revit 2012 but are unable to do so. We have attached the screen shots of the messages that we are getting while importing. We have the trial version of Revit Architecture 2012 and need to import the files so that we can convert them to rvt files...
I have installed the trial version of Elements 12 as we are looking at purchase for a client who needs a simple and inexpensive program to look at EPS files and save them as JPGs. Elements 12 says that an EPS file can be 'imported' as a supported file type, however when I click on File -> Import, it comes up with WIA Support, then when I click on that and select the EPS file, it says "No WIA compatible devices were detected. Check that your device is plugged in to the computer and the power is turned on".
I have seen an article on how to import into Elements 11, but the options are not available in 12 (probably due to the fact that 12 is supposed to natively import the format). As I understand the trial is a fully-functioning package with no options turned off until purchase.
I'm trying to import a simple IGES file into vanilla Autocad. I found the IGESIMPORT command and I can get the geometry to import. The issue I am having is that the geometry is importing as splines. Even if the geometry is a straight line, it is imported as a spline. Perfect arcs also import as splines and I can't find a way to convert them.
In Autocad Mechanical, I can use the IGESIN command and the geometry imports as regular lines and arcs. I'm working with a customer that doesn't have access to Autocad Mechanical and trying to find a solution for them with vanilla Autocad.
Why cant I import my Nikon D800E NEF files in LR 4.3 - just started recently -I have been doing the same thing for months and never had a problem. "unable to copy a file to location"
why when i want to import file sketchup by type "IMPORTSKP" in commadline box, i can't import file sketchup into autocad because AutoCad Error Aborting and fatal error, and after that my autocad suddenly closed by it self, so i can't use my auto cad.
I have this dwg that i've imported into a part sketch. All except one layer won't come it. So i have made a dwg with only the culprit layer, see attached. Why nothing gets imported into a inventor 2012 sketch.
BTW all layer from my main dwg file gets imported into on single layer even tho i'm not using the option to do that. It is not a big deal compared to that layer not being imported.
try to import it and let me know if it works, my autocad and inventor are patched SP1
I found this error a bit strange, my colleague it trying to save a file and this error keeps on coming out (see attachments). When we try to save it, it only saves as a temp file. When we try to open up the temp file and try to save it, it still doesn't allow us to do. Also, when we cancel the save, the original file will be gone and he will lost all of his data. Below are the specs of the computer and version of the AutoCAD.
Computer: DELL Precision T5500
OS: Windows 7 Ult
AutoCAD Version: 2011
Also, we're using ProSteel Series 3 as well. We tried saving the file using ProSteel and just AutoCAD but it didn't do the trick. I've tried some options (listed below) that might get it to work but still no luck.
1. Restart the computer.
2. Repair / Reinstall AutoCAD.
3. Give permission to the folder (read from the forum).
Currently using the following hardware; HP Z800 Xeon X5677 with 24GBram and 3x147 SAS in raid configuration
Windows professional 64-bit
98% of our work consist of creating idw drawings of complete factory's plants, large 3d plant models.
Therefore we have many subcontractors and from them we receive 3D step/iges models (size approx. 240MB), we want to be able to import these in to our models. But for the moment we are unable to import these files into inventor (due to size probably), it takes very long (over 36 hours) to convert, and most of the times we get a error... or inventor hangs.
When we are able to convert these we have performance problems because of size of our models.
So my questions are;
- why does it take so long to open, - how can we reduce these files.
We have three old drawings (saved in the year 2009) that we are trying to open with AutoCAD 2013 and we keep getting the message "Drawing File is not valid".
I have done the following:
Files do have a file size. Sometimes, files have 0 KB size, but not these ones.
We tried to open the files using AutoCAD 2013, AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and DWG TrueView (downloaded today!) and in all instances we get the same message.
We tried recovering and the message is "unable to recover the drawing file"
We tried inserting as a block and, in the command line we get "...was created by an incompatible version of AutoCAD *Invalid*" Again, the file is genuinely older than our current AutoCAD.
I'm relatively new to AutCAD map 3d but I've used arcGIS a while back.
I have existing roads, towns etc data that are already set to UTM 17. I want to import ascii point coordinates (from a comma delimited file) into the file. I can import the ascii coordinates as points fine (easting and northing), however the points come in as the absolute coordinates rather than geometric coordinates. I already set the files for right geographic projections. Beyond manually inputing the coordinates into the coordinate tracker, is there a way to import the coordinates form the file set for the geometric coordinates?
A co-worker had a copy of a handy little guide called "Lynn Allen's Tips and Tricks for AutoCAD 2012". I think she (or another co-worker) got it at AU.
On page 33 under the heading "DGN Support", it says the following:
Complex linetypes are now maintained! To ensure that custom linetypes are displayed, copy the corresponding .rsc files to the support path...........
The way I read that, Acad will read the RSC file and display linetypes from it. Is that true? Does it only work when I'm looking at a DGN file? Or can I use the RSC file with my dwg file? I'd test it myself but I don't have access to any MicroStation files.
If Acad can read the RSC file directly, then I don't see why the linetypes can't be used in a dwg file. AND that being the case, I also don't see why an Autodesk product can't be created to WRITE these RSC files. As far as I'm concerned MicroStation's custom linestyles is so much more advanced than Acad's linetypes.
I have been using autocad quite frequently lately and for some reason today I cannot convert my DWG files into PDF, although I have done the many times before. I have even tried opening old drawings to convert them to PDF and nothing will export.
I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
When I try to add a plotter, I get a message, "No DRC files were found in Autocad 2013 - English drivers directory."
The DRC files are in the DRVen-US directory, and is in my drivers search path. I have even changed the order of the search path to place that directory first, but no joy.
I recently started having trouble when I try to save a file. It started about an hour ago. I have been working on this file all day with no problems. What is happening is when I do a quick save or a save as I get an error that says "unable to save to drawing F:NNorthview SchoolsHS - Phase 5, 6 & 7NH-EPSF1A13.dwg. Drawing saved to F:NNorthview SchoolHS - Phases 5,6 & 7savACD.tmp"
If I do a save as It will say the same thing but it will delete the existing file that I tried to save over. I have to do another save as to get the file back. I think this is specific to this drawing because I have not had it happen with any other file.
I ran Recover on the two exref files as well as the working file. No errors are found. I have purged all the files and tried again but it did not work.
I need to be able to snap som lines etc to some hatches. I have set Options - Drafting and unchecked "Ignore hatch objects" and OSNAPHACTH: 1 and it still doesnt snap.
For the past couple of weeks I have been getting a message that autocad cannot save dwg because it is being accessed by another session. This doesn't happen everytime I try to save, and it happens in differant files. After hitting save 4 or 5 times it will usually let me save the dwg. but then I have to go into the folder and clean out all the temp files. I know that none of the other users in my office have the dwg open when this happens so I'm at a loss as to whats causing it.
I jumped from 2010 to 2013 when switching jobs.I have to load my profile every time I start AutoCAD, it will not save as default. Also within my profile I created, some setting I have to reclick as they are not saving within the profile. I change the setting, hit apply, the save profile as currrent.I do also have an issure with the settings changing within different drawings. I will go to options and have to re check some boxes, and I havent closed AutoCAD yet.
