Oct 23, 2012We are running Revit 2012 Suites on iMac w/Parallels w/Windows XP SP3. Office file server is a Lion Server running 10.7.5. While working in Revit we can; save PDF's to server, export DWG/DXF to server, and for a few moments after opening a file we can save a .rvt file to the server. But after more than ~2min, Revit freezes at any save attempt and we have to force quit through the task manager.
Last few lines of journal entry for event reads as follows.

this error has persisted throught Revit 2011 and 2012 versions.
Revit :: Creating Imperial Library For Server?
May 31, 2013Our office would like to create a new imperial library with typical families we use on most projects. This library would be located on the server and would be seperate from the Revit standard imperial library. This would allow us to all share family files and only keep ones we use often and ones we have previously edited and customized. Is there a way to link this imperial library to Revit without erasing the standard library, only making our custom library the primary one.

Oct 19, 2011I'm testing out a Revit Server configuration with a local server on one site connected to a central sever at another site. So far the testing has gone fine but we've run into a snag. The public IP address at the site of the central server has changed because of a change in ISPs. Now I'm unable to figure out how to update the IP addres settings for the central server that the local server connects to..
I've tried running the install again but it won't run since the software is already installed. I've tried running a repair. I've tried logging into Revit Server Administrator but there is no option to change the IP address of the central server it connects to.

Dec 5, 2012We have set up Revit 2013 and it works fine for creating folders and subfolders. I followed the Autodesk process step by step on creating a new file in the revit server. Everything is fine, but when I hit save an error message appears saying that the file cannot be saved. When I log into revitserver i see the new file, but I cannot delete, lock it, or use it at all.
How we can lock the files to be able to delete from the revit server?
As a side note:
Unless Autodesk is planning on getting rid of revit server they should really invest into the documentation and troubleshooting.

Aug 22, 2011I just upgraded the server for our small firm to OS X Lion. The share is accessible from Windows and all permissions are the same as they were before the upgrade. I can manipulate and open files in other programs in Windows, but everytime I try to open a .rvt or .rfa file in Revit from the server I get "Failed to open document". I can open .dwg files fine in Autocad, and I can even insert .dwg and images from the server into an open revit file.

Jul 6, 2012I cannot save my .psd files to the server from Photoshop, neither save or save-as. Save for web works just fine. When I try to save I get this error message:
Could not save as “X.psd” because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder.
I know for sure that I have unlocked permissions and no one else is using the file.

Apr 19, 2013one of big problems which arise after update to CS6 is with Photoshop - we are agency, we have workflow based on servers and with CS6 now we have quite often issues with saving on server. After few hours of work there is no more possible to save to server, you must restart PS. With all previous versions of PS there were no such problems like with CS6 (we used CS3, CS4, CS5, CS5.5). Users are switching back to CS5/5.5, but for me it seems quite unbelievable that this kind of errors occurs in such frequent manner.Adobe don't guarantee 100% functionality when using with server, but it would be great to maintain at least some quality level across all versions. For us it means that investment in CS6 upgrade have lower value than we expected. And no, "save locally and copy to server" is not usable to our workflow, it will slowdown users too much.
if Adobe plans to improve quality of PS CS6. We don't want to upgrade to CS7 just because it maybe will work.

Photoshop :: Saving As To A Server Through A Network
Dec 2, 2008I'm having technical difficulty when Saving As in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign CS2. I can save to my computer but when I attempt to SAVE AS to my server it will take about 5 minutes and give me an I/O error or corrupt the file or the entire program will shut down. Often I will have to restart the entire computer. I've checked the network lines and they are fine. It only does it to my computer and none of the other 4 in my office.

I used to run Photoshop 5.5 on Windows Server 2003 without an issue, I wanted to make sure version CS3 will also run on this OS. I know the system requirements say otherwise, but as I said I had it installed on a server OS before with out any issues.

Jul 12, 2012I have a Sql Server 2008 R2 database with gis features. I can connect to it and add the features to a map when using Map 2012, but not with Map 2013, even with the Sql Server hotfix installed. In 2013 I can log in to sql server and see a grayed out list of the feature classes, but I can't add them to my maps, and I get a message about no spatial data found, (or something to that effect).

3ds Max :: How To Properly Set Up Client Folders On Server
Aug 20, 2011I have a maxstart.max scene with the configure user path set to my documents C:UsersluicatDocuments3dsMaxDesign, so that all settings with my sky, cameras, lights etc are all in place when I open up 3Dmax and start a new project.
Question is what are the best practices for setting up client's folders and using my maxstart.max on my computer as a template for projects to be located on server?
"Goal is to keep all in the client's folder in tact so if I relocate client's main folder all 3dmax files goes with it."
Guesses are:
1. set project folders to client's location then copy in missing files like my sky etc...., in to the scene assets in new location,then configure user paths to the client's location so everything is linked as I work on the project?
note: I am not sure if set project folders insures all links inherently or if it's just a bunch of empty folders and are only there for recommended organization of files?
I am not sure also if everytime I open an existing client's scene/project do I always have to reset configure user paths to that client's location if I want to keep it all in tact?
2. Save the maxstart.max scene in the client's folder location with a client/project number then copy over all of the other folders needed to manage the project?
