Revit :: Dormer In Existing Roof
Mar 25, 2013I have an existing roof with a new dormer.NEW dormer is created in a view with phase filter set to Show Existing+New Shouldn't the roof opening be shown as demo in the demo view??
When the opening is selected, the properties show the Phase Created=Existing and it is grayed out and not able to change to New Construction.
I'm using Revit Arch LT 2013. I do not need to know what Revit can and cannot do.
Revit :: Joining Dormer To Main Roof?
Jan 30, 2013joining my main roof to the roof of a dormer. The issue is the top of the dormer sits higher than the main roof. I am having trouble getting the main roof line to run up to the ridge of my dormer (just the small triangular piece doesn't want to connect). I'm not able to attach the file because it is too big.
I built the roof using the footprint tool, maybe that wasn't the way to go.
Revit :: Eyebrow Dormer Isn't Sloped Correctly?
May 16, 2012I have a 6 pitch connecting to a 9 pitch roof. I go and make an eyebrow dormer along the 6" pitch roof and the dormer automatically is drawn as a 9 pitch with a crazy peak (almost church like). I cannot adjust the pitch of the eyebrow to make it look appealing.

Dec 6, 2012I have a shed dormer coplanar with the top chord of a gambrel roof. When I try to use the dormer tool it will not let me select the shed dormer roof to close the loop. There are no tools beyond picking appropriate edges/planes so I can't close it any other way than picking appropriate planes. Why doesn't it see this roof plane as appropriate?
Both the gambrel roof and the shed roof were created from extrusion since I couldn't figure out how to create a sloped roof from the dormer walls that was coplanar with the top chord of the gambrel without tedious manual calculations of wall heights or levels.
I've tried hiding/isolating uninvolved elements for easy picking and attaching/unattaching walls to roofs.
I also tried joining the shed to the gambrel which while successful in and of itself did nothing to work with the dormer tool cut the lower chord for the dormer walls.
I am aware there are manual methods to cut the roof and modify the wall profiles but I'm afraid that these methods will not join the elements in way that will produce a correct section or framing detail.

Jan 7, 2013I have ACA 2013 (student version) running in the Windows 8 environment. I cannot open anything drawn in a previous release nor can I open a drawing created in ACA 2013 that was installed on the Windows 7 platform.
I have tried to drag in the drawings through design center. That worked for a while now when I try that it causes ACA to crash. Also I have tried multiple drawings that were created in several different versions of ACA. (2004, 2006 and 2009)
As a side note I was able to open those files in ACA 2013 running on the Windows 7 OS.
Revit :: Mirror Project Is Hanging At 29% Architecture 2013
Jan 26, 2014I am using Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013. I am using mirror project from the manage pulldown under position. I have used this tool many times in the past with success. This particular home is an average size two story. The file is about 40Mb. I tried flipping the home and Revit gets to about 29% and stopps. I let it run for an hour over lunch, even over night and no luck. I tried the same house on another computer running Autodesk Revit Arch. 2013 and it did the same thing.
I tried purging the file, I made sure nothing was locked, I even got rid of my grouped items. I tried copying the plan into another "fresh" file with nothing extra (like title blocks or other families).
I do have some floor framing shown in this plan. I used structural 2x10s to produce the framing (I did try getting rid of the framing and it didnt work). I tried turning off the roof lines (it has about three reverse gables) and nothing.

Dec 11, 2013I have a situation where I need to place a curved door in a curved wall, I do not want to model in place or look for a work around but would like to create a family template that that could be used frequently.
In previous versions I was able to copy the metric door.rft and rename it to i.e. Metric Door_Radial Host.rfa. I would then be able to edit this template to suit my requirements, save and rename to .rft. This template would then be live.
In 2013 it seems that I cannot open a .rfa file for editing.
