I am working with a series of long movies and need to stitch them together and put timecode on them. I found that there is a limit for how many frames I can offset, which is 32,766. Is there a way to get rid of that limit?

The video clip in V1 has a reverse speed change applied, and the timecode filter is off by one frame. Or maybe the source overlay is off by one frame? Which should I trust?
In CS4, I could have as many undo as I liked, while there only seems to be a default of 20 in CS5 and CS6, or maybe I just can't find how to increase this limit.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon DC210 SD digital camcorder, which records onto mini DVD's. The camcorder has no USB, IEEE 1394, connector on it. The only way to get video clips onto my PC is to put the mini DVD into the DVD drive of my PC. The video clips are stored in .VOB format, which is a shell for MPEG2 data. The camcorder records a timecode in the video file, but when I use the Capture/Import from Digital Media function that timecode does not get brought into VS X3. I have searched the forum, and see several articles about timecode imports from DV tape, but I didn't find anything about importing from digital media.
I have tried putting a check in the Add Video Date Information as Title checkbox, but I do not get the timecode in the imported file. Canon assures me the timecode is there ready to be imported along with the MPEG video data, but I can't get at it. I have tried importing directly from the mini DVD, and from the .VOB files saved on my hard drive, still no timecode in the imported clips.
I need an offset lisp routine to offset a selected line a set distance on each side of the selected line and change the layer of the offset lines to the current layer, and then keep prompting me to select the next line for offsetting until I'm finished.

Per the VS X4 User Guide: To enable timecode retrieval for AVCHD
1. In the Capture Step Options Panel, click Import from Digital Media.
2. Select the thumbnail of the video file. Click Start import to launch Import Settings.
3. In Import Destination, select Insert to Timeline or select Add video date information as title.
4. Choose Entire video to import the timecode of video file to appear as a title spanning the entire duration of the video. Choose Duration to import the timecode as a title within a specified duration. Click OK to apply the settings.
In Smoke 2013 we cant seem to see the record Timecode. The source TC is there just not the record.
Is there something that we have to turn on?
I am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.

I am using MAYA 2012 on Windows 7. When I import audio (.WAV) it works fine, but if I offset it to a later frame the waveform moves to the right frame but when scrubbing the audio stays at 0. Making if very difficult to lip-sync. I have tried re-caching, playing the scene all the way through and all other options I have seen online.

Once imported, I tried changing the timecode track via Tools > Reformat and selecting "23.976" and "Affect Record Timecode" - but am then prompted to process a timewarp over the clip. That doesn't seem right to me since I'm just trying to change the TC and playback rate of the clip without actually affecting picture.

I use this often to compare the same point in time for an offline to online clip. I can open the timecode input window, and manually enter the timecode from one clip to another, but I can't seem to find the copy and paste commands that will use that timecode as the input.
I need a pit configuration, and I use the offset command to offset a base polyline to first 10 m and then 3 and so on.. is there a way to do this in an automatically way, that you can choose the lenght of the offset for each "offset" (i.e. 1st 10 m, 2nd 3, 3rd 10 m, 4th 3 m, and so on. Syncing in plural eyes is good with our pro res files, but when I try and sync with some mp3 files from a zoom h1 recorder it goes black at the bottom of the timeline and responds really buggy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty generating a 43 minute video in .mp4 (1920x1080). I was able to successfully generate the (.mp4) video at 1280x720. I was also able to successfully generate an 11gb .wmv version and a 9gb .avi version. I have 120GB free space on a 500GB (NTFS) SSD.
Each time I try and generate the video using .mp4 and 1920x1080 the process dies after about 3 hours, always at 85% completion and the temporary work files created in the output directory are always very near 4gb (3.99gb) in size (but never over). That fact and the fact that I can generate all the other versions makes me wonder if there is some kind of 4GB limit to mp4 (in VideoStudio).
I have tried to do some research and it appears there are .mp4 files > 4gb in the wild but my version of Video Studio X5 Ultimate sure seems to have this limitation. If upgrading to X6 would fix this, I'd be happy to do this. But don't need to upgrade if it doesn't fix this issue.
I actually have 2 laptops (both Dell Latitudes) and have attempted to generate the video at the 1920x1080 resolution on both and both fail exactly the same way (85%, just under 4gb temp file).

Is there a codec or driver or something I can download that might fix this? I'd have to mention although I've owned video editing software for years (beginning with Ulead - Media Studio Pro) I would not consider myself very well read in the technical video arena.
I've had PS 7.01 for a while now, been running it on a 1GB ram machine with no problems and I'm about to upgrade to a puter with 4GB, however i recall hearing a while ago that PS can only recognice 2GB ram, will this mean that i will have problems running PS7 ?

Only about half in the list show examples of their style and many are not suitable for video, so there are a lot to click through and try when looking for something a bit different. I think, of the hundreds available, I would consider using only about 30. I am reluctant to completely get rid of most of them but it would save a lot of time if I could sort through them once initially and cull them into a group suitable for use in VS [and have VS offer only those].

I have always supported companies in fighting unauthorized use of software and in fact lost my job and was out of work for a year after refusing to pirate software for clients. This stand has cost me greatly in personal finance due to being out of work and it angers me to know of companies using software without a license. Even when I reported the issues it seems no action gets taken which I guess is due to the small sizes. Thankfully I now have a new job at a place that follows my belief of requiring licensed usage of software.
Being a network engineer I am always tinkering with my home computer and testing out new software. This means that I run betas, release candidates and even demos as a part of my profession. Consequently this has me needing to wipe out the hard drive from time to time. I always thought of the Adobe activation method as the best as it allowed one to deactivate the product prior to having a reload as the best way to go as it allowed the person to not have the hassles with reactivation. Also to keep within the license I have PhotoShop install on my office computer so that I may do work with web images from time to time. To ensure that nobody at the office uses my PhotoShop I have been deactivation it and removing the key.
I'm trying to create a 283.28" by 85" document, but the 283.28" part keeps automatically changing to 227.54". Is there some kind of size limit? What am I missing?

However, when I try to upload to youtube there is a 15 minute limit and the only option I have is to let it clip the video to 15 minutes or cancel (i.e. I can't render the video and then cancel the upload and do it manually because it CLIPPED the output to 15 minutes)
So, I try to create a template to use for Create Video File so it will match my other uploads. I can't set the frame width and height. Without a template the Create Video File, mp4 etc... the default is 1920x... In the Make Movie Template the highest I can set it is 720x... the custom size is greyed out. I don't understand (and maybe I don't know) why I can't set the video parameters to anything I want them to be. Why is 720x the highest available...
In X5... Is there a way to turn off the 15 minute limit? Is there a way to HACK and turn off the limit? Is there a way to create the videos and set the settings where I want them so they match my previous uploads?
Note, the "cancel the upload after file created" trick no longer works. If you think I can create a template, why I can't set the parameters.
