to the number of Brushes , Actions , Gradients you can have in Photoshop CS3?? I have noticed that not ALL my brushes/actions show when I try to use them? Is there some where to fix or adjust the number that show?
I've had PS 7.01 for a while now, been running it on a 1GB ram machine with no problems and I'm about to upgrade to a puter with 4GB, however i recall hearing a while ago that PS can only recognice 2GB ram, will this mean that i will have problems running PS7 ?
Recently I became aware that PhotoShop CS3 has a limit of activation / deactivation. I have always supported companies in fighting unauthorized use of software and in fact lost my job and was out of work for a year after refusing to pirate software for clients. This stand has cost me greatly in personal finance due to being out of work and it angers me to know of companies using software without a license. Even when I reported the issues it seems no action gets taken which I guess is due to the small sizes. Thankfully I now have a new job at a place that follows my belief of requiring licensed usage of software.
Being a network engineer I am always tinkering with my home computer and testing out new software. This means that I run betas, release candidates and even demos as a part of my profession. Consequently this has me needing to wipe out the hard drive from time to time. I always thought of the Adobe activation method as the best as it allowed one to deactivate the product prior to having a reload as the best way to go as it allowed the person to not have the hassles with reactivation. Also to keep within the license I have PhotoShop install on my office computer so that I may do work with web images from time to time. To ensure that nobody at the office uses my PhotoShop I have been deactivation it and removing the key.
I have created a design for a t-shirt competition. I have not read till now that you are only allowed to use a maximum of 8 colours in you design!! Trouble is that I do not know how many colours I have actually used :/I have read blogs on how to convert the colours by saving the file as a giff as well as posterising which all seem to make my work look like a waste of time..
In CS4, I could have as many undo as I liked, while there only seems to be a default of 20 in CS5 and CS6, or maybe I just can't find how to increase this limit.
Why does the warning panel tell us we have exceeded the 2 GB file size limit for psd and go see the help files, instead of saying, "save using Large Document Format"?
I've got an action that takes a file and spits it out to gif and jpeg, but when it does so it clips the filename of the original psd if its over like 29 or 30 characters (for example: "31character_long_filename_blahblah.psd" becomes something like "31character_long_filename_bl.jpg" after export).
One blog I read said disable the Mac OS 9 option in the flyout menu of the Save for Web Output Settings Dialog box, but it was already unchecked/disabled (though Unix is checked). Does anyone know if there's some way to get Photoshop to allow more than ~30 characters for a jpeg or gif filename?
This problem occurs in Windows, Photoshop CS2, on a standard office Dell. I'm pretty positive it's not a Windows problem because the original psds that have long file names are not being clipped. Only exported jpegs and gifs are being clipped.
What is the maximum number of files you can open when using batch-processing?
I need to process more then 100.000 files one by one. The files are stored in a folder structure. I try Automate -> Batch -> Source: Folder, but it will not start with the first image.
Are there other solutions (Scripting, Bridge, more memory maybe)?
I read on this forum that more than a year ago that this subject had already been approached here about CS6, without any proposed solution, and it continues with CC:- The limit of reframing with rotation stops in 0,6 ° - what was not the case of CS5- This limitation returns impracticable CC, in particular during treatment of reproduction of picture..I find that products CC bring me more inconvenience than profits. I believe that I am going to return to the previous version and to delete my subscription to Cloud (the same kind of unpleasant surprises with Dreamwaever !)
I need to turn a B&W photo into screen print art without using a line screen (just block colours) - essentially I'm creating a 3 colour black and white images using:
- PANTONE 4625 C - PANTONE Warm Gray 6 C - PANTONE Warm Gray 1 C  Using a bunch of techniques (unsharp mask, tritone and posterize) I have line art that looks great with a posterize level of 4. But I've noticed that Photoshop is using my Tritone colours to mix itself an extra tone - and if I switch to a level of 3, Photoshop chooses to remove the level that PANTONE Warm Gray 1 C uses which deletes all the highlight detail.  Is there a way I can specify colours that Posterize uses?Or is there a different approch I can use to split the tones into the ones in the Tritone?  I've tried playing with the curves in the Tritone window to try and influence the colours photoshop uses (so no colour mixing) but maybe I need to somehow save the Tritone layers into the channels pallate?
When I upload jpg files that have been saved in photoshop CS3 to my account on Flickr, an excessive amount of information appears in the exif data. In particular, there is a list of every time that I have edited and saved the file. How can I eliminate this information?
Im getting not enough memory (RAM) error messages attempting to photomerge or auto-align large images. Any other filter or tool that I need works just fine on these size files. Neither tweaking CS3 preferences (as has been discussed rather thoroughly on this forum) nor toggling the 3 GB switch under XP (my PC has 4 GB ram and >200 GB scratch) helped. Given optimal settings, what are the upper dimensions that I might reasonably expect to photomerge, either under XP or Vista 64? If its not unheard of to photomerge and auto align huge files, Id upgrade my system. Otherwise, Ill plan the upgrade and wait for CS4.
Is there a limit to the size of the catalog in PE6. My Catalog is approaching 178 MB and thumbs cache is nearing 1.5GB. The Organizer Keyword mapping function is responding very sluggish even after performed a Catalog repair and optimization.
I have a few different problems with the pen tool. Â 1. When using the pen tool I keep finding that the shape I'm doing is slightly overlapping where I've already gone with the pen tool.If I try and go over that area again the path I've just drawn then jumps and ruins the shape I was creating. Â How can I stop this from happening? Â 2. Also is there a limit to the amount of paths you can create and add text to? I created two paths and typed on them fine but when I added a third path it refused to type. The cursor didn't change to show I could type and if I did click on the path line and try to type jumped to my other path and typed there. All paths were on different layers and none were overlapping, but it is 3 circles inside each other that get smaller if this makes a difference. Â How can I type on the third path? Â 3. When I have done a path and clicked stroke it is only a thin line. How can I make this line thicker?
I have been designing for a lot of mobile sites these days, in particular: iphone retina display (640w). Most of the time these designs can be long in the tooth with the height of these documents - exceeding 8000 pixels at times. I noticed that 8000 pixels is the threshold limit for the "save for web" export. Anything greater than 8000 pixels will be downgraded in quality on retina devices by scaling the image. The jpg will still be the correct height and width, but when viewed on an iphone, you can easily see the degradation. Images and text are blurry. This is no bueno when trying to show a client what their site will look like on an iphone.  A preference to be changed? Am I missing something to get the full quality of my design comp in order to preserve retina display quality?
I've done this a number of times and have seen excellent results and after a few times running through it I can do it in my sleep. I also feel that this is the least damaging to my image and keeps the file from changing visually too much. Â 1. First, open the offending image and save as so that you have an original file to go back to if you have to. Here is my example image. I am being informed by the publication I am sending it to that my ink limit should be under 300. But when I check my image with the eyedropper set to "Total Ink" I am seeing 320-350 in many areas. Â 2. With this new file open, duplicate the file so that you now have two images open. In the "copy" select the black channel and duplicate that channel within the file. In most cases, your high total ink areas will be found in the "darkest" parts of your images. By duplicating the black channel, I will be using this as a selection mask. Â 3. Now on the "copy" image, you want to choose Edit > Convert to Profile. Here you will choose Custom CMYK and in the next dialog box change the Total Ink Limit to the desired amount, in this case 300.
4. After this conversion, use your eyedropper and check the Total Ink in the areas that previously you discovered was too high. You will now see much lower numbers, and actually the numbers may have gone too far and you'll see that your converted image looks very different from your original image. But, not to worry, the following steps will solve that. Â 5. In the "copy" image, with the CMYK channels active, select all pixels. Â 6. Go to your other, "original" image you have open and Select > Load Selection. Choose the "black copy" channel from your "copy" image and also choose invert. This will load a selection mask in your image of just the "darkest" parts of your image. Â 7. Now with this selection active, you want to Edit > Paste Into. You are now pasting into the selection your converted image, but it will be only affecting the darkest parts of your image. The result will also create a new layer and layer mask. If you turn off the view of your bottom layer, you can see what you have actually pasted into your image. Â 8. Now what I do is use my eyedropper to check the Total Ink with the top layer turned on and then off. I then use the Opacity slider on the top layer to get my image so that the Total Ink meets my desired 300 level. Once it's where I want, I flatten my image and then all is done. Your "copy" image you can just close and no save.
I'm trying to create an Action that will resize images to a constant and absolute width (600px), and save as a JPEG with a filesize of less than 160kb. I've tried Image>Image size... and Save for web with only partial sucess. Image Size does not allow you to set the filesize as a parameter - you can only set the dimensions and resolution and hope that it comes out under 160kb. Save for Web does have an optimise feature, which does work for an individual image, but not for a batch. The optimisation is done by adjusting the quality of the jpeg, but when you save this as an action, it does not record this as "optimise the image for 160kb". Instead it saves just the quality % used when recording the action. Any other images processed by that action will just be saved at that %, regardless of their filesize. Is there a way to write the action so that Save for Web will dynamically optimise each image? I'm using CS3 Extended.
Is there a limit to the number of filters that Photoshop CS2 will display in the filters menu? If so, is there a workaround for a plugin maniac like myself?
I have one computer right now with Adobe photoshop on it. It says I have reached my activation limit but one of them I uninstalled and the other computer I no longer have, it died. What do I do?
am trying to select between red and pink...on a graded level, which makes it harder. I am using the select tool and select similar in order to do so...I was wondering if their was a way to limit the particle size (object total pixzel area) that photshop considers when selecting similar things.
For example, like I stated above, I am selecting for red objects against pink objects...and the red objects are round, so is there a way to limit selection to objects red and have a objective radius of a few pixels?
I have just bought PE12. Â Is there any way that I can limit the types of file which Organiser is to import? Â I want to organise my .jpgs (.gifs etc.), but not my .pdfs, or several others.
I have 17,900 photos and videos in a directory structure organized by date (folders for year, with sub folders for month, day etc). Recently, Organizer refuses to display newly added folders in the folder tree. That is, I create the new folder, and rename with a date, at which point it vanishes from the display. It still appears in Microsoft Explorer. It looks like there is some limit on the number of folders you can have in Organizer, but surely that is absurd?  I have a new Windows 7 PC, running on a home network (total 3 PCs). All have (legal) copies of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements. Files are stored on a NAS in a shared directory.
Does Photoshop Elements 10 limit the number of styles that can be installed at one time? I can't seem to load in any more than I already have. If so, how to I have access to others? There doesn't seem to be a place where I can load new styles like you can with brushes.
I've got hold of some Welding glass to use as an ND filter on my Fuji HS20. It arrived today and works a treat. I do however now have a new issue that this has caused. I've set a custom white balance on the camera to counter act the tint from the glass. This now produces the correct colour on my jpg photo's however the RAW files have the wrong colour tint. When I open them in photoshop elements 11 I get the CAMERA RAW application. The white balance is set to 'AS SHOT' however the Tint is at +150. I'm guessing my problem is that the tint needs to be more than +150 and CAMERA RAW is limiting it. Does this mean I am now limited to using JPG's when I use this glass as an ND filter, or is there a way I can get rid of this limit to the tint on the white balance
I am having difficulty generating a 43 minute video in .mp4 (1920x1080). I was able to successfully generate the (.mp4) video at 1280x720. I was also able to successfully generate an 11gb .wmv version and a 9gb .avi version. I have 120GB free space on a 500GB (NTFS) SSD.
Each time I try and generate the video using .mp4 and 1920x1080 the process dies after about 3 hours, always at 85% completion and the temporary work files created in the output directory are always very near 4gb (3.99gb) in size (but never over). That fact and the fact that I can generate all the other versions makes me wonder if there is some kind of 4GB limit to mp4 (in VideoStudio).
I have tried to do some research and it appears there are .mp4 files > 4gb in the wild but my version of Video Studio X5 Ultimate sure seems to have this limitation. If upgrading to X6 would fix this, I'd be happy to do this. But don't need to upgrade if it doesn't fix this issue.
I actually have 2 laptops (both Dell Latitudes) and have attempted to generate the video at the 1920x1080 resolution on both and both fail exactly the same way (85%, just under 4gb temp file).
Is there a codec or driver or something I can download that might fix this? I'd have to mention although I've owned video editing software for years (beginning with Ulead - Media Studio Pro) I would not consider myself very well read in the technical video arena.
