I'm going to start from scratch, import all the pictures into Lightroom 5, and add tags to all the photos and create collections and smart collections. I have a desktop and a laptop. I'm traveling, so I want to do a lot of the work on my laptop (adding the tags and creating collections and smart collections). When I return home, can I use an external HD to transfer the photos to my desktop and keep all the tags and collections (and metadata)?

Dec 23, 2011I am embarrassed to ask such a basic question--but the majority of my media are still pictures for a bridal slide show, and I was wondering how to manually render "pan and zoom" like effects for each photo as the dimensions differ and I want to crop out the extra "black space" from my vertical pictures.
Most of these pics were scanned in at 600 dpi (they are old as the hills), but I also have a crop of jpgs they sent at 92 dpi...
I wish I were more savvy--I JUST purchased Corel Video--having used Roxio products for the past 5 years (wanting to take it up a notch).
Premiere Pro :: Convert 60 Fps To 24 Fps Without Slow Motion?
Dec 30, 2013Just as the headline says. I shot a wedding and accidently forgot to change the frame rate (Sony AVCHD, if it matters). I need the clip to get to 24fps without using slow motion (I need it to look real time) and I need the audio from the clip as well. So, clearly going to Interpret Footage>Frame Rate won't work because the audio and film slow down. Even unganging it as instructed by Adobe in the manual doesn't work quite right.

Mar 14, 2012Attached is an assembly that I created. It includes a timing belt, 2 pulleys, 2 shafts, and some profile lugs that are attached to the belt with a false tooth.
1. why can't I constrain the profile lugs around the radius of the belt? Also, when I created the belt and put the holes in it, they disappeared because they ended up in the radius of the belt.
2. Is it possible to create a motion constraint to this model, so that it moves like a real belt?

Maya Animation :: How To Create Motion Path Correctly
Jan 29, 2011To create an animation similar to the one shown in the page 225, in the tutorial, I created a curve but I am not too sure that was the correct way to create it.
1. Selected the Surfaces Menu.
2. In the font view, using the CV Curve Tool, created the first half.
3. Using Duplicate in the Edit Menu, I created the other half.
4. In the Edit Curves Menu, selected Attach Curves and connected two curves.
5. I, then selected the Animation Menu and created an object to be used as an aircraft and followed the same steps shown in the tutorial and it worked nicely.

Jun 21, 2011Usually in the previous versions of maya I used the timewarp in conjunction to motiontrail for retiming my animations. In maya 2012 seems no longer work.
When I apply the motion trail to my object that has changed with timeWarp, the keyframes are displayed by Motiontrail as if there was the timewarp.
In the old motionTrail there was also a chance to see every single frame of animation with a number, not only keyframes.

When i try to connect anything to the Out Time of new drivenTime node the connection never works, not even keyframes?

Jan 23, 2014We are using original size photos (3080x2380). Then make a sequence based on that size. During the Export to Mpeg2 for Blu-ray the photos end up with black lines on the sides of the photos on the TV. I've changed the export setting from "match Source Attributes" "HD1080i 29.97 (1.33par)" and "HD1080i" How do I get a correct preview in Premiere to reflect an actual HD TV output?

Then, I went into Picasa to check some older pictures and it captured all the new pictures and since then, I cannot develop my pictures in Lightroom. When I go to my Pictures file and try to open the photos i get the message: Photo Gallery Can't Open The Images Or Video Because The Format Isn't Supported Or You Don't Have The Latest Upgrade To Photo Gallery. Pictures from a small point & shoot work fine. I get the same results when importing using the camera Mfg's software.

Jun 5, 2013I recently purchased a new Canon T5i and have started using Lightroom. So far I am loving both.
I plan on importing into my Lightroom Catalogue all of my photos from my Mac's Pictures folder and from iPhoto and my iPhone and iPad.
For those photos already in my catalogue from new shoots, I have placed them in appropriately named photos, have religiously used tags and have renumbered the photos using this type of convention:
My Initials_Year_Event Description_Sequence
I am ending up with some very long file names. I am not a professional photographer so this is all for me but I want to be able to search for my photos from both within Lightroom AND from the Mac's finder. I am looking for input to create unique but descriptive names but not make the photo names very long.
Here is my thought process:
1. I am using my initials as I can then search in the Mac Finder and find all photos and movies regardless of extension (e.g. CR2, DNG, JPG, MOV). My initials are not on other files in my Mac.
2. I am using a descriptive name so I can search for the photos for example of "Dan's Wedding" and find those both in Finder and in Lightroom. The Dan's Wedding photos are in a Lighroom directory called "Dan's Wedding" and they are tagged with Wedding and Dan. This might be over kill but I think the actual file name is most useful to me when it describes the event.
3. The number is of course what makes each file unique.
SO.....some questions.
1. Is putting my initials a waste of time? I could search in Finder for "DNG, JPG, MOV" but I would get files besides those in Lightroom (assume all of the items in my Pictures folder will eventually be in Lightroom.
2. Do I really need a date in the file name given that a meta data search will find the photo's taken date? I am more likely to remember an event name like "Dan's Wedding" than the fact it happend in "2013 June".
3. If I use a date, should I put the year first for search purposes?
Photoshop Elements :: Importing Photos Under Folder Named My Pictures
Apr 3, 2013I am using the trial version of Elements. I imported photos from my G drive, but it refuses to import the photos under the folder named "My Pictures". It sees the folder and subfolder, but not the pictures, even though it imported all of the photos under other folders, and imported the pictures in My Pictures under the C drive. Is there any way I can import the photos without renaming the folder?
