Premiere Pro :: CS6 (Win) CUDA - Best Settings To Accelerate The Output Rendering?

Jan 27, 2014

I am working with MTS files (AVCHD, 1920x1080, interlaced, 25 fps) in Premiere CS 6, Windows, and want to render my project with the same properties as h.264.

A common misconception is that CUDA/OpenCL processing is only used for rendering for previews. That is not true. CUDA/OpenCL processing can be used for rendering for final output, too.

But where/what are the options/settings to use CUDA not only for preview purposes, but for accelerating the rendering of the final output, too?

Premiere Pro :: CC CUDA Rendering Working With AVI Output Only

Jan 25, 2014

on my system Premiere Pro CC is only using GPU rendering with AVI output formats.

All other formats like MPEG2, Quicktime, H.264 are unfortunatly fully CPU rendered (=slow).

I just upgraded from trial to payed mode and when Premiere started the CUDA was already enabled (might have activated it during trial already).

But anyway I checked if my card was in the support txt file and also used the cuda.zip auto tool to make sure I had no typo.I did this for Premiere Pro CC and also copied the list into the Adobe Media Encoder directory.

So I started playing with input and output formats. It turned out that CUDA is currently only working with AVI output. I installed GPU-Z to check my GPU usage vs CPU usage in the task manager.

As soon as I pick any other output format than AVI - CPU usage during rendering is up to 80-90 and GPU at 0%.

With AVI output GPU ist around 30 and CPU in the 40ties or less as it should be.One of my old applications Cyberlink Power Produces 11 is doing the h264 rendering in half the time.

My System is running on:

Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe with 16GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti (with current Driver - 332.21 )
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit (with Media Center) and latest updates

Current entry in CUDA*.txt file (as printed by Adobe GPUSniffer):

GeForce GTX 660 Ti

And already tried:

GeForce GTX 660Ti
GeForce GTX 660

Premiere Pro :: Gamma Shift On Blackmagic SDI Output / When Using MPE OpenCL Or CUDA Acceleration

Dec 22, 2013

I'm experiencing an interesting issue in Premiere Pro CC.  When using Mercury Playback Engine with either CUDA or OpenCL acceleration, the SDI output from my Blackmagic Design Decklink Extreme 3D+ card exhibits a noticable gamma shift towards the dark.  When I switch to Software Only playback, the image appears as it should.  The image in the viewer window inside Premiere is not affected in any way, just the SDI output. I've confirmed this behavior at multiple frame rates, resolutions and codecs, including ProRes, XDCam and RED.  The "Linear Processing" checkbox in sequence settings makes no difference.

It makes the MPE acceleration unusable, and Premiere is very slow without MPE.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Rendering Color / Lighting Output

Apr 24, 2011

I am using arch 2009, I have a bizarre issue with the rendering output soley based it seems on what version of Autocad the original drawing was created.

I have a block with 3d elements & materials, I insert it on any drawing which was created in release 14 which just about 100% of our drawings are (because you know, you take your old title blocks, convert then to the new version of Autocad, year after year after year, so the original title block was created way back when, just saved in the new format.) Anyhows, these are where the 3d blocks were created, newly in r2009, on on drawings originally created a long time ago. We just created new office title blocks from scratch in r2009 starting with the acad.dwt template.

When you insert any of these blocks, render it, the colors are different, too bright. here are all the specs for both drawings, one with the corect colors, one without. We have a ton of these blocks created over the last year or so which we render in Acad for the graphics guy to use for color elevations so its a pretty big deal if the color output is not reliable, it should be the same if all your settings are the same regardless of where the drawing file came from. I have missed something, and its probably something simple, it always is.

1. Same block with same material specs, verified on both drawings.

2. Zero lights, as per the lightlist on both drawings.

3. LINEARBRIGHTNESS - set to zero on both drawings.

4. LINEARCONTRAST- set to zero on both drawings.

5. DEFAULTLIGHTING - set to ONE on both drawings, viewport.

6. DEFAULTLIGHTINGTYPE - set to ONE on both drawings, viewport.

7. Render envirionment & render settting dialogue boxes, match line for line, verified.

Here are the 2 rendered images of the same block inserted on 2 different drawings. The darker one is the correct one:

Premiere Pro :: Getting The Correct Output Resolution?

Dec 20, 2013

I am on a mac using CS5.5

I am making a short 10 second sequence to be displayed as a new years promo on two digital billboards. The requirements are that it is in .wmv format which doesnt pose much of an issue but is still relevent, and I need a copy in 880x256 and one in 448x160.

I have tried so many different avenues to get this to work over the course of a few hours and cannot seem to find a way for this to work out in my favor.

I started two seperate sequences each of custom settings with the specified resolution (880x256 and 448x160). I create the sequence for each and fit the frames accordingly.

e2 = sAIArt->GetFirstArtOfLayer(layer, &art);
 error = sAIImageOptSuite->MakePNG24(art, dstfilter, pngParams2, MyRasterizeProgressProc);

the code above shows how I managed to export a artboard with all layers to PNG-File. My question is, if there is a faster way to combine all layer before exporting, maybe a way without the "temporary layer" (Rasterize(...)-method)?

When I export with the standard-export-button in Adobe Illustrator, it runs fast and with all layers.

Premiere Pro :: Where Is Old Short Rendering Dragbar

Dec 21, 2013

I can't find how to render a short segment on the timeline. I did read your suggestion but the squared parenthesis + alt doesn't mark anything. There is no draggable thing to mark a segment like you had on previous versions of Adpbe Premier. I can't find anything in the pull down menus. Your terms in the explanations are not clear either, You need a simple diagram of your own interface with a glossary of words you use to name your tools. This is basic. I have a problem with rendering anything more then 4 seconds at a time too, so I am really up the creek here with a 40 minute film to edit.

I look-developed it using still mode rendering, but when I started to render as a sequence I noticed it looked different than expected. The difference is in the indirect diffuse pass, which is very noisy in the animated sequence. It also has some very pronounced highlights which are incorrect.

Premiere Pro :: Slow Transition Between Rendering Videos?

Jan 13, 2014

It used to be that when rendering a timeline, there would be no lag between rendering the first and second videos. Now, between each video there is about a 30 second transition before the next video begins rendering. Anything that would have caused this, or is there anyway to prevent it? If I am rendering a timeline with 60 clips that need rendering, this can add a significant amount of time.

-Rendering Usage in Balanced Power Settings

-Rendering Usage in High Power Settings

I really suck at understanding these things.  But changing from Balanced to High Power didnt seem to affect the rendering times.  But also the time was down at like 20-40 minutes before I started messing with the power controls now its at over 2 hours.

Finished a small render with success but it got pretty hot again and Norton pops up saying High CPU usage by PPro.  100% was hit quite a bit too

Premiere Pro :: Get Video To Stay The Same Speed After Rendering?

Dec 17, 2013

I am trying to edit a video for a friend. He shot the video with his phone and it shows up sideways when it is imported to Premiere. Everything works fine till I rotate is 90 degrees. When I rotate it the bar on top becomes red. The audio and video still play perfectly fine though. When I render the video and it plays back, the audio stays the same, but the video speeds up by almost 10 seconds. Also, when I try to just start over with the clip and just reimport it, it will only let me add audio to the sequence. The video plays in the preview, but will not add to the sequence after telling it to render the first time. I have deleted the project, all prefrences for Premiere, and even did an uninstall and reinstalled it.

VideoStudio :: Output Settings - Create Video File For Hard Disk

Jun 26, 2013

I've just completed my first project and when I attempt to create a video file for hard disk output I'm unsure what option I should select from the drop down box that gives me the highest quality without re-rendering the video.

My AVCHD 50p original files are according to the file properties in VSP -

PAL HDMV
H.264 Video
24bits, 1920/1080, 16.9
50.000 frames/sec
Variable bit rate (max.26000 kbps)
Dolby Digital Audio
48000 Hz, 5.1 channels 384 kbps

So it looks like I need to select AVCHD 1920x1080 50p however in the properties for that file creation, the video bitrate is max 20000 kbps (my video 24.7) and audio is only 2.0 (my audio 5.1).
I really would like to retain the 5.1 audio and my higher video bitrate.

Also when I view the project properties the video is shown as 1024 x 576.

PAL double (50 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1024 x 576, 50 fps
Frame-based
Uncompressed
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 bits, 5.1 Channels

We all get it that you want people to use Media Encoder. But I never use it. It forces me to render a separate file, then re-render that file. I don't need the extra lossless files floating around my machine, and H.264 mp4's looks great coming straight out of after effects.
