CorelDRAW X5 :: Get Pure Black Output From B&W Laser Printer Without Using Preserve Settings
Sep 6, 2013
When i take bw laser print from corel draw, the output is not pure black. I tried using the the 'Preserve Pure Black' setting in corel draw. But it turns out to have some adverse effect while converting image from one format to the other (like rgb to cmyk) bitmaps, the black shade on the image looked washed out in multicolor offset print.
what should i do now to get pure black output from bw laser printer without using the preserve pure black setting.
printer : hp 1020
operating system : windows 7
corel draw version : x5

I have a problem with CorelDraw X6.
When printing 100% black on laser printer the Black is all in raster. Very strange because the same file printed from X4 /same PC and same printer/ is OK and is not in raster.
Probably the problem is somewere in X6.
I don't belive that the problem is in the color management because it's the same as my X5 and there all is OK too.

In older versions of Illustrator (8 & 10) I can change the lpi to a 20 or 30 with a GCC Elite XL printer and have no problem printing BIG dots on vellum paper for screen printing on T-shirts.
I'm running newer version (CS2) now, and I can set the halftone to 20 lpi, but when I print it to my HP 5si mx printer, it comes out looking as smooth as a paper printed dot can look! Not what I want!! I've tried changing all kind of settings, both on the printer menu, and in the print dialog box. But my HP seems to default to an 'enhanced' halftone dot!!! My GCC is getting really old, only has drivers for 8 & 10, and I need a back up in case it dies someday and I can't print those big dots anymore!
I can't update to newer (600 or 1200dpi) printers because I need to print at 300dpi so my dots come out looking big and bold. I know, I know, it's not what most people want these days, but it's what I n

New to CDR X6 just having upgraded from CDR 8.
Printing a black and white layout to my HP LaserJet 4000 produces an image that appears to be grayscale instead of solid black. In other words, my text, line border I've put around the layout and graphics (for the most part), all appear about 70-80% black instead of SOLID black. Small text doesn't appear to be nearly as sharp because it looks like a halftone instead solid black. On one layout I just printed, the entire thing appears halftoned except for one vector graphic that did print in solid black. Strange. I figured I have something set incorrectly in the software or printer. Has to be the CDR X6 software though because all other programs output just fine.

Is there a best setting for the mode, color settings, and color profiles when printing a grayscale vector illustration to a monochrome laser printer? I am making vector maps, and right now they are mostly black line and black text with only the K values in CMYK. There are some gray tones—for example water areas are 10% K, with no C, M or Y. Would it make any difference if I used RGB mode values at 100% (255,255,255), or a rich black in CMYK (such as 40C, 30M, 30Y, 100K)? I printed in K only at 1200dpi to a Generic Gray Gamma 2.2 profile, and it doesn't look too bad. There aren't many of the lines that are really jagged. I just wondered if there are better settings.
I'm using Mac OS 10.6, Illustrator CS6, and a Brother HL-5470DW monochrome laser printer.

I have one user that when trying to print to a color laser jet printer it only comes out in color. I even set the Plot style to monochrome.stb, (which is a network file that others use without issue) have Plot with plot styles checked, and even tried checking the black and white only in the printer properties. This is Autocad 2012.
Is there something I am missing to have the print out come out in black and white? Te print preview shows it in color.
Forgot to mention, if another user opens the drawing, it prints in black and white ok.

I was working on an order form design the other day and my boss said we need to fill in some of the empty space, so I suggested we use a dot pattern-esque type watermark of the organization's logo that the order form was for.
For some reason when I sleceted the logo I couldnt access the change brightness contrast option in effects. So I simply made a light gray rectangle, placed it over the logo, clicked on the rectangle with the transparency tool, changed it to uniform, and changed the mode to mulitply or add or something like that. It looked great on screen, but when i sent it to the laser printer with some post script LPI or dot pattern options for the lighter grays, nothing printed out at all from underneath the rectangle.
I tried it through our copying machine, and it worked, but the copying machine has no built in halftone effects for grayscale.

Can Quark [or Quark Express] open a CorelDraw file and preserve all of the settings like the exact distance from the curves or text to the edge of the canvas?
I have CorelDraw X6. I work for a small business that sells business cards and letterhead to customers.
I have been sending camera ready artwork to a printer. The printer opens the file with I think a Quark, or maybe a Quark Express, program.
They save the file in PDF format and then e-mail me the PDF file as a proof.
Almost always crucial settings like the distance(s) from the curves or text to the edge of the canvas has been changed in their PDF proof file.
For example, I might send them a CorelDraw file where the text at the bottom of a page is set .350" from the bottom of the canvas. The proof that they send me might be .4" or .5" from the bottom.
Today, a woman with the printer told me that their software would not preserve the exact CorelDraw settings when their software opens a CorelDraw file and that there is not any way for them to know the exact CorelDraw settings.
I find that hard to believe. How will Quark open a CorelDraw file and preserve all of the settings or are some of the settings, like curve/text setback from the canvas, lost?

I'm trying to sort out an issue with the printer marks being set as black (K) in the print separations dialog.
What I'm trying to do is to print separations to pdf to send out to be printed in plates, for this to work I have to set the option "print separations in color" to true, so that the screen angle does not get screwed when the plates are printed. Now my issue here is that all works well just the printer marks are not in the color respective to their plate, they all are black. This will result in the plates other than the black one to not have any printermarks.
Now if there is a way to say set them to registration color or something so they are then printed right it would be great, otherwise I would need to se printer marks by hand which is a bit of a pain.

Ever since PS CS3 I've noticed that when I print a 300 dpi grayscale image to my laser printer directly from Photoshop, it comes out as if a 72dpi benday screen had been applied. Never happened in earlier versions. I used to get excellent black-and-white print quality through Photoshop, just using the default settings.
I have 300 or 600 dpi grayscale images, usually with a lot of clean black lines. But whether I set to "printer manages colors" or "Photoshop manages colors", and no matter what profile I select, I get the same halftone (awful) result on my HP Deskjet 3330. The printer's settings are fine. If I print the same image from any other application, such as Quark or MS Word, the print quality is fine.

We are printing out some psd files that were sent to us on a laser printer . There are little dots of ink all over the page.. It seems that what photoshop outputs the printer doesn't think its pure white and is trying to print some color.. even when we change the background to transparent it still prints these dots of ink all over the page.. Indesign does not have this issue..
We have been trying to narrow this down for a while now.. Its as simple as creating a new psd..typing in text and hitting print..Bam little dots of ink all over the page.. Its like the printer thinks it should print some color even though the colors in ps are white or transparent..
Hard to explain..did that make sense?

Running Canon 2620Using Post Script driver with good colour matching.Using CorelDraw X5 sp 3 and all my fonts print out really heavy on the black, they almost look Bold. Text is not cmyk, just pure black.Converting to curves or exporting as eps and importing doesn't resolve it either. Seems I have have tried all settings. Text prints fine in other applications. Also prints fine in CorelDraw x3.

I have problem printing tiff images with a picture in Windows 7, 64 bit only on a laser printers. The processing of even the simplest of drawings to the printer takes too long, more than half an hour after that or stop with the press or to print only part of the drawing.
This problem does not appear when we print only the tiff images on a laser printer or print the entire drawing to a plotter. Also print these drawings with the tiff images without any problems under the previous operating system (XP). Note that we use the latest drivers for all printers.

while making black and white illustrations with photoshop: I can't make the background pure white! Even if I put the cmyk value as 0000 it changes it automatically to 0223 or something. You can't tell the difference on the screen, but in print this comes out as a very light grey, which pretty much destroys my work. I don't think the black is pure black either.
Working in bitmap mode is not an option.

CS5.5, Windows 7 64-bit (just in case that's needed) I have a layered PSD image. One layer is black (#000000). I flatten the image and sample the black area, and it is still pure black. I crop and resize the image - still black. I save as a jpg, and when I reopen the jpg, the black is no longer pure - (#010101).

The Recolor Artwork dialog does not replace the color of objects filled or stroked with pure black, either CMYK or RGB. (Yes, with the Recolor Art checkbox selected.) The dialog will replace any other color, but not black. Not even a manually created rich black. Manually selecting another color from the Color or Swatches panel does change the object's fill or stroke.
This happens with both CS6 and CS5 under Windows 7 x64. I reported it as a bug on the prerelease site. Also not sure if bug reports are still being read for the released version.

i recieved a prom pic from my daughter and i was going to print it and frame it, but 2 things happend.
The first one was that when i tried to print it it said it was tooooooo big 40inx60in so i resized it to 8.5x11 and it got very blurry, after about an hour i figured out how to get it sharp again (by accident) and forgot how i did it DOH!!! It was some kind of compairson with 4 of the same photo and resizeing the file from 9.5M to about 400kb and actualy adding some blur.
The next problem is when i printed it, it was so washed out it looked like an old 70's poloroid but on screen it looks great. Now I've read the color settings section but i think i might have set some settings wrong [U]and i don't think i fully understand what i'm reading . I know there are settings to either let photoshop take care of the printing or let the printer.Personaly i think i would like to let photoshop do it that way any email's or photo's i shoot will have a common baseline. The printer i'm using is an hp psc 2410 and the camera is a minolta dimage7i, is this a good camera / printer. I'm in adobe rgb(1998) mode and i think i saw somwhere in the printer software to choose between adobe rgb or the hp printer.Do these have to match.
Put simply how can i print it the way i see it on screen
I know ....long winded but i try to give all the info i can
software: adobe photoshop cs2
Card: nvidia geforce ti 4600
crt: compaq mv 940 17in regular screen 1024x768
Printer HP psc 2410
Camera: Minolta Dimage 7i

I need to create an output PDF that is CMYK for the printer.
I thought I was doing everything correctly until I got this message that was generated when I selected Export (to PDF), "The document is using CMYK space. Colors are converted to RGB in interactive PDF files. To avoid color changes, click Cancel and choose Document RGB from the Edit > Transparency Blend Space menu. Click OK to continue."
So, I think this means that the PDF export is being saved in an RGB color space. Is that a correct interpretation? If so, how do I preserve the CMYK color space because that is what the commercial printer requires? Is that even possible or relevant?
