Photoshop :: Old Dusty And Yellow To Pure Black And White
Feb 1, 2006
Anyway I'm trying to create an image that's supposed to look old dusty and yellow .. as a result of the centuries that passed since it was written.
The image is supposed to be purely in black/white.
Any good ideas on how I do this?

What is the best was to turn this to pure black and white? It is for printing, so there can't be any grays.

while making black and white illustrations with photoshop: I can't make the background pure white! Even if I put the cmyk value as 0000 it changes it automatically to 0223 or something. You can't tell the difference on the screen, but in print this comes out as a very light grey, which pretty much destroys my work. I don't think the black is pure black either.
Working in bitmap mode is not an option.

I use Lightroom 2.2 to import and convert RAW photos from my Panasonic Lumix LX3 to DNG files. Works great except for one thing:
If I shot a photo using the LX3's 'Black and White Dynamic' preset, Lightroom imports it and a few seconds later, the photo becomes colored (really yellow) instead of remaining black and white.
That's weird since I don't use any Lightroom preset when importing these photos. It seems like Lightroom is applying some type of auto-correction to these photos.

how to make the black portions of an image really black. My image looks nice and black on screen but prints a muddy gray. I've tried a few printers with pretty much the same muddy gray results.

CS5.5, Windows 7 64-bit (just in case that's needed) I have a layered PSD image. One layer is black (#000000). I flatten the image and sample the black area, and it is still pure black. I crop and resize the image - still black. I save as a jpg, and when I reopen the jpg, the black is no longer pure - (#010101).

This has started to happen to me recently, working across indesign and Photoshop, for some cutouts it is easier to have a "pure white" background (0%c, 0%m, 0%y, 0%k) rather than transparency, it keeps down file sizes and speeds up workflow etc - plus sometimes press images just come like that.
recently I have noticed that some images, despite being saved as a "pure white" background, are coming out with 1%c, 1%m, 1%y, 0%k backgrounds once I re-open them. Doesn't matter if I save, Save as, copy the image, duplicate it, I keep getting the 1% color back in. This is occasionally causing problems with printers.

When i take bw laser print from corel draw, the output is not pure black. I tried using the the 'Preserve Pure Black' setting in corel draw. But it turns out to have some adverse effect while converting image from one format to the other (like rgb to cmyk) bitmaps, the black shade on the image looked washed out in multicolor offset print.
what should i do now to get pure black output from bw laser printer without using the preserve pure black setting.
printer : hp 1020
operating system : windows 7
corel draw version : x5

I got sent a jpeg of a semi-flat black painted car. The client can only provide these images as they are just for mock ups of sponsors. They asked me to turn the car into a yellow one. What would be the best course to take? I tried adding a new layer in "screen" blending mode.Tried "replace color".Tried using a gradient map.All to no avail. While the car obviously gets the correct color, shadows get washed out and the result is no where "high end". Is there a step I should undertake before changing the car's color, or am I just screwed because of the semi-flat black finish on the car?
I'm not in for a session of painting all shadows and reflections in by hand.

The Recolor Artwork dialog does not replace the color of objects filled or stroked with pure black, either CMYK or RGB. (Yes, with the Recolor Art checkbox selected.) The dialog will replace any other color, but not black. Not even a manually created rich black. Manually selecting another color from the Color or Swatches panel does change the object's fill or stroke.
This happens with both CS6 and CS5 under Windows 7 x64. I reported it as a bug on the prerelease site. Also not sure if bug reports are still being read for the released version.

I wanted to make a decal to place on the acrylic window of my PC. I found the perfect picture, which is in black and white. For it to look right though, I need to switch the black to white, and vice versa. Is there a way with Photoshop to automatically switch these, instead of having to manually switch them.

I have just built a new PC and re-installed my Adobe CS4 Master Collection. When I first opened Photoshop, the default white background was a Yellow colour. Eventually I worked out that it was to do with colour profiles and selected a profile associated with my monitor (Samsung Natural Color Pro 1.0 ICM). This turned the Yellow back to white and all was good. Now I am trying to edit some product photography sent by a supplier and though the images look fine in the windows thumbnail, when I load it into PS, the white background of the image is yellow. On closer inspection, if I preview the original files in Windows, I see the Yellow backgrounds. The Yellow background also stays if I save the file and then will show on the thumbnail as yellow.

I opened up Adobe Photoshop, the usual white color was a light yellow. The RBG color values were right for white but White just wouldn't show. White shows in every other program I have used, word, mozilla, excel, etc. I just recently got a new samsung monitor and I wonder if it might be a display problem. My old CRT monitor didn't have this problem. I tried playing around with the color settings but it did nothing. No matter what I do, all the white because a light yellow on adobe photoshop.

First - I am not an expert in the Color settings/Profiles topic but I am thinking there is an issue here.
When I look at this image "McCroreyDigitalLogo.png" in Photoshop the 'whites' appear right. Then when I import it into ms PowerPoint, the whites look yellowish.
I have done a series of 'tests' and it seems to be that the color profile out of photoshop and the one in PowerPoint are not compatible.I have reset my Photoshop preferences with no luck/change to the results.
Finally, I did a screen shot out of photoshop and pasted that into Powerpoint. The white appeared correct. Basically any files I run through PS, when they are imported into PowerPoint, the whites turn yellow.

I'm using corel draw x5 and my monitor shows white as very light yellow, the only way to stop this is to change the color conversion settings to none which then turns all the colours to RGB which don't relflect the colour that would be printed.
My monitor is a Dell U2410.

I have a multilayered psd file. All layers should remain opaque except the black to white gradient layer where I need the white to be transparent. So that when I place the final psd on top of a block of solid colour in Indesign the gradient shows the background colour through where the black fades off.

I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white.
