Photoshop :: Transparency Retains White Line?

Sep 22, 2006

i used the "magic wand" tool to take out the white backgrounds behind a few polaroid images i'm using on my friend's website and there seems to still be a white line still. it's very thin and almost unnoticeable, but you can see it as you scroll through. check out his site and go to the "life" section and you'll see what i mean on the polaroids as you scroll.

my possible reasons behind this are:

1) somehow the "drop shadow" effect creates the white line?

2) in my code i used borders and on the polaroids i set it to no border, and somehow this make there still be a white box around it?

Photoshop :: WHITE As Transparency

Jun 1, 2006

I'm migrating from web to graphics, and I have no idea
if I can save as/export documents in PHOTOSHOP making
the white background saved as transparency, as you do
with GIFs in Fireworks. This is VERY important to me as
I must make dozens of objects with transparent backgrounds
and many photos I get they have all that white background.

Photoshop :: Pasted Text Retains Formatting

Oct 31, 2013

When text is pasted from one CS5 document into another and is inserted into the existing text in the destination doc, is comes in as a size different from either the source or distination size. Both docs are of the same resolution. The text being transferred is acquiring new formatting somehow. These are older docs, I don’t know what I might have done with/to them previously.

Illustrator :: Transparency Looks Different On White Background

Why do transparent objects look different on white background vs no background like the image below?

If I flatten the transparency both sides of the gradient object looks like it's on a white background.

If I print it there's no difference.

Photoshop :: CS6 Image Processor Retains Unwanted Paths

Apr 29, 2013

I use the image processor in Bridge to batch convert my finished .PSD images to JPEGs for final distribution. I have been doing this for a long time and it fits my needs and my workflow perfectly. Unfortunately, though, something seems to have changed in CS6. In CS5 this would delete all paths in the file, but it seems in CS6 the paths are still there in the final JPEGs. This is not ideal for a number of reasons (e.g. clients don't need to see that I used a path called "fat guy's belly" during editing...). How can I loose them?

Illustrator :: Thin White Line Between Line Art And Live Paint Fill?

Jun 25, 2012

I am using live paint to paint cartoon character illustrations.  The artwork is brought into Illustrator CS3 and live traced.  Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill.  Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in.  If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill.  This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files.  If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok?  I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.

Xara :: Black And White Transparency Corners?

Apr 20, 2011

Designer Pro 6: I've made round cornered pix for a catalog. I export as a PNG and the corners show black in the Web app I'm using, but they are transparent so it's OK. The last set of pix were done in Xara Xtreme 5, when I exported those as PNGs the corners were white, and the transparency was OK. My question is why the white or black corners, and is there something I can do that will control that? I used the same approach in Designer as in Xtreme 5.

GIMP :: Transparency (Alpha To Selection) - Remove White Background From Images

Aug 20, 2011

For quite some time I've been trying to find the best way to remove a white background from images. I've checked out the sticky thread on this forum and as my image isn't of great quality and because it features quite a lot of white that won't apply.

Recently I found this tutorial which is supposed to work great (as seen in the comments). However, I think that because of a GIMP update that won't apply anymore somehow. I was hoping you guys might know what was causing it.

Everything works well until I get to step 7, where I have to select to Alpha. There it selects just the outlines, but my selection includes inner parts of the image, not just the background. And then after I invert and delete, the white that remains still has transparent parts that show up on the upper layer. So, am I doing something wrong with the Alpha to Selection, is that tutorial updated or is there a better way to remove the background from ie. a logo with just one background colour which isn't of great quality.

GIMP :: Phantom Line Around The Edge Of Transparency

Aug 15, 2011

It's just supposed to be a plain black logo, which I've extracted from an image and smoothed/sharpened the edges (they were very rough even before the extraction process). But somehow I've introduced this faint ghost line about 1mm in from the edges of the logo, and I can't get rid of them even if I draw over the entire logo with jet black.

The ghost line becomes most apparent when I anchor the transparency to a white background. Here is zoomed segment of the logo demonstrating the issue:

There is none of this effect on my original full size transparency. It must happen during during the smooth process. Process I used:

- Alpha to selection
- Shrink by a few mm
- invert
- gaussian blur
- colour->curves-> and resharpen smoothed/blurred edges using the 'alpha' graph

Illustrator :: Retains Unsavory Namespaces In SVGs / Can't Open Own Export

Mar 8, 2014

I've got trouble with a part of a bigger artwork I got from an unknown source in an AI file. It seems that even though it is an Illustrator file, AI retained parts of code from an SVG that contributed to creation of this AI file. When I save the file in Illustrator as an SVG not only it won't render in any browser, but also Illustrator won't open it ("This SVG is Invalid. Validate it before opening."). I am at a loss. I've tried all possible combination of SVG saving options.That is a problematic part of an SVG save:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 17.1.0, SVG Export Plug-In . SVG Version: 6.00 Build 0)  -->
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN URL....
<svg version="1.1" id="Layer_1" xmlns="URL....
width="44.9px" height="44.9px" viewBox="0 0 44.9 44.9" enable-background="new 0 0 44.9 44.9" xml:space="preserve">
[code]....

If you save the above code (that is a direct result of saving from AI) as a plain text file with an SVG extension Illustrator won't open it.

I have found that opening it in Inkscape and saving as Plain SVG (getting rid of sodipodi and inkscape namespaces) makes it readable again, but for all sorts of reasons I need Illustrator to be able to deal with it on its own.

Is there any way for Illustrator to "forget" the non-standard code from placed/opened SVGs? I've tried copy&paste, export as PDF... nothing. Maybe a script?

I have tried publishing to PDF then in acrobat replacing document colours and on screen that works fine but when you print it still prints

With the black background and white text for some reason.

Photoshop :: White Border / Line On A Cut Out Image

Jun 13, 2012

Here's the thing happens :

1- BEFORE (a clean cutted image) :[URL]....

2- Using a plugin : (also with others): [URL]....

3- AFTER (white border) : [URL]....

This is so interesting.I use ''knockout2, remask3'' for cutting and ''Imagenomic Portraite'' for retouching.That never happened in CS4 32-bit.

Now i use CS6 64-bit and whenever i APPLY an effect/filter (include PS's Refine Edge) or plugin, there happens a strong white border/line on the image.

I can delete it by using so many ways like ''contract'' but it kills the details.

why is that happening?This must be an option or something cuz it never happened in any other photoshops that i used.I used the same plugins.
