View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a bump map for use in 3D rendering (3ds Max). This is the diffuse map i've created:
Problem is, no matter how much i fuss around with exposure, curves, hight pass filter, this is all i'm getting:
As you can see it is very "jagged" and looks terrible when rendered. I tried to clean it, but despeckle doesn't do it. I need something clean looking, like this one:
What is the proper way of creating this kind of bump map?
I was reading up on spot colors. And was confused about a term used
The passage:
Quote:
You can also add an extra spot color (or bump plate) to a four-color CMYK image.
what is a bump plate?
I'm using the metallic preset under the arch and design for mental ray and i've added a scratch bump map. It shows perfectly on the material editor but doesn't show up at all on the actual rendered image.
I've attached the image to show you.
Even after Service Pack 3, bump map still crashes Photopaint instantly.

I have shifted the offset from 0 cm to see if it moves the position, but all I seem to be able to change is the scale of the bead.
I've been trying to generate a speed bump in Smoke. I have a reference clip from FCP and I have to rebuild it in Smoke. What is the best way to do that?
If I have the clip in it's original lenght, and match the in and out points with the ref clip, then insert it in the timeline, so it's already sped up and the correct length, and then access the TW soft effect and start playing with the keyframes in the animation tab, i get totally messed up results... (and it doesn't matter if i have LOCK BOTH or LOCK OFF selected, it still doesn't work).
So how can i create the speed bump, and still have the same first and last frame like in the reference clip and also keep the same duration as the reference?

i have sculpted some details in sculpt layers and i have a bump map in paint layer, which i have created with my diffuse map. Now, I want those sculpted details as a bump map or a normal map. Ok, If i export as a normal map then now i got 2 files in my paint layers (1) normal map and (2) bump map which i already have. Now, I want both details in one single map. normal map or a bump map.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with style editing, and added a texture map to a style as a bump. The bitmap I selected, however, was on my hard drive, not in the project search path. Now that I would like to check this part into the vault, I get the attached error message. I have since tried deleting, copying, moving the file from that hard drive to a legitimate search library.... removed it from every style it was used in, purged all styles, basically deleted it from every place I can find it, including going through the model tree and checking each individual feature (over 50!) to try to find it. It is still in the file somewhere, and I can't seem to figure out where. Is there no way to find and purge this offending bitmap?

Ideally I would like to use the nVidia normal map filter plugin - it's for Photoshop, and although, apparently, you can use some photoshop plugins, this one does not seem to work.
First question - is there a way to use the nVidia plugin?
Next - is there a Corel way?
I have created my own greyscale heightmap images and I can export red channel for alpha. Then I flood fill the red channel black and the blue channel white and export the RGB as the colour part. Creating a dds image gives me a pseudo bumpmap
BUT
Whenever I use this kind of bumpmap I get the effect I want on the aircraft models, but for some reason, "my" bumpmaps seem to remove the polygon smoothing of the 3D models so that when I "fly" the aircraft, I actually see the polygons instead of the smotthed mdl surface. This photbucket link shows what I mean.
The left hand image shows the original bumpmap on the original model. The next image shows modified artwork on the same model. Then I have change to a "D-i-Y" bumpmap and the last two show that although the desired bumps are there, I now have the wireframe polygons visible.
I'm trying to create a custom stamp in Photoshop. Done it with a 16 bits colorspace, saved as TIFF with the required options from the official documentation.
Why do i get a 'grainy' result, even painting with a 100% strength white color ? It happens only on a bump layer. On a diffuse layer, its ok.
Do the bump layer use a 8bits color space ???
how could i coloured the scrollbar.and what is image slicing?

When I check the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" box in Preferences > General:
-using zoom tool, scroll wheel will zoom out to the smallest size, but will only zoom in until image is slightly larger than the file window then slides the image left and right or up and down depending on size of file window. When image is slightly larger than the file window, zoom out doesn't work anymore
-using Alt + Scroll does nothing
-Ctrl + Scroll zooms image the way Alt + Scroll should
When I UNcheck the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" box in Preferences > General:
-using Alt + Scroll scroll wheel will zoom out to the smallest size, but will only zoom in until image is slightly larger than the file window then will neither zoom in or out anymore
-using Ctrl + Scroll slides the image left and right
In either preference setting, using ALT key causes letters for menus in the tool bar to be underlined
I have no problem using the hand tool/spacebar to scroll around an image when zoomed into it, but as soon as I can see the whole thing I can't scroll around anymore and its just locked to the center I am a After Effects user so I find this a bit annoying that I can't do this, so I figure there MUST be a setting somewhere I could change to enable it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use the pencil/brush tool and hold down shift and draw my line, It works great for small lines, but when I have to go off my current screen space, photoshop will FUCKING FLY down to the end of the document, leaving a line through the whole thing. The area where it doesnt move the document to where it shoots down is so sensitive.
if there is anyway to change the scroll speed, so i can make my lines in peace.
I have a problem with "new scroll feature" in Photoshop CS6 - I didn't find any discussion about that in whole internet (maybe I used bad keywords for the finding) How can I turn off this annoying horizontal scroll feature?
I over and over again do the same - by mistake scrolling horizontally instead vertically..
how do you make the custom scroll bars for web pages?
how to adjust the scroll rate when you zoom in on an image? Back in version 5, PS used to automatically adjust the scroll rate when you zoom in on a pic so you're not scrolling really fast past the area you're trying to work on, but now (using PS7) when I zoom in on an area of a picture, the scroll rate doesn't seem to change so when I try to just slide a few pixels horizontally or vertically, it quickly jumps to the far end of the picture.

Not sure if I exlpained it clearly.this option enables you to slide the red square (in the nav box)..outside of the viewer.. normally it stops when it hits the border..
How do I scroll through photos in Elements 10. Probably simple, but can't work it out..
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just installed CS6 on a mid2009 17" MacbookPro and am experiencing an annoying issue with scrolling to zoom. I use a magic mouse, and do not have this problem in CS4. Whenever I scroll the mouse "wheel" to zoom in, it zooms in at like 20% or so levels everytime, instead of smoothly as it did in CS4.
I checked preferences, and I have animated zoom enabled. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB video card. Also, here are other details:
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Since a few days I have a trial version of new CS6 and there I miss the possibility to zoom in / out with scroll function of mouse, where is it hidden ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm not the only person who has a multi-layer template that switches out 30 plus layers. There must be people that have 50-100 layer files.
When I save out a particular layer on multiply on top of the bottom template layers into a JPG, the layer window scrolls back to the top, at least most of the time.
Other times it doesnt, but what it does not is stay at the selected layer, so I can just pop up to the next one. Ctrl or Command seem to do nothing to change this. I have to keep scrolling from the top every time because the layer window scrolls back to the top every time after saving.
I just switched to a mac from PC and I was used to zoom with my mouse scroll and hold shift to zoom in even increments to keep the image as crisp as possible. Now on a mac I still haven't found a way to do this. When the zoom with mouse scroll is enabled (I use Apple's Magic Mouse), I'm only able to zoom in and out getting uneven values such as 88,7%, 97,6% etc - the same action as in Photoshop WITHOUT shift pressed. I've also tried plenty of different keys with mouse scroll zoom.
Is there any way to zoom in even steps with Magic Mouse on a mac? This is driving me crazy, as now I have to select the zoom tool and use it to zoom in and out, which significantly slows down my work flow.
So I have to zoom in or use fullscreen mode to enable scrolling. It's really bothering me.
Is there any way that I can scroll freely on any occasion?
I'm using CS 6.
After an update to Photoshop 13.1.6 x64, the scroll wheel on my mouse quit working as a zoom tool.
