View 7 RepliesHow to Apply adjustment layers to multiple layers that have different blending modes and keep the colors the same as the adjustment done?
I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!
I ran to a little trouble using photoshop today. I wanted to get rid of the "adjustment layer" but leave the effects.
For example:
I have two layers and I want to apply the adjustment layer effect to them. I don't want to leave that "adjustment layer" on top of everyone. I can't use groups because my real project is too complicated. By the way, applying the adjustment layer to all of them means all the layers remain an image but they have been modified (for example: color, black and white, etc.).
What is the difference between Mask layers and Adjustment layers? I work with Photoshop Elements 2.0 and really dont know what a Mask layer is or if it is exactly the same thing as Adjustment layers.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have to deal with multiple layer documents for producing underwater mosaics. Very often, the images vary in colors a bit. For large mosaics, I run the images thru a batch job before I use them. For smaller mosaics (e.g. just 10 to 20 images), this is a bit of overkill, in case I have to tweak just 5 or 10 or so.
In this case, I prefer picking one of the 20 layers as my "reference" and manually match the colors of those layers, that need the match, one by one.
My question now: Is there a way, that I could select, lets say 10 layers that need the match and apply the Match Color to all of them in one go?
working on Layers and Layer Mask to obtain see through multiple Layers effect.Below is the description of my problem that I am looking forward towards resolution in this forum. I will be glad if some expert can guide me on this.
I have three layers of different colors as below.
Layer 1topmost layer) with Red color filled rectangle.Layer 2(below Layer 1) with Green color filled rectangle.Layer 3(bottom most layer, below Layer 2) with Blue color filled rectangle. When I erase something with brush on Layer 1 using masking Layer 1, it hollows the erased part and start showing the Green color of Layer 2 in hollow section of Layer 1.
What I want to achieve is that, when I erase Layer 1 using layer mask, then it should hollow Layer 1 as well as Layer 2 and should show Blue color in the hollow section of Layer 1.i.e: Hollow section made on Layer 1(using Layer Mask on Layer 1) should also be applied on Layer 2 so that Layer 1 and Layer 2 becomes hollow using eraser and I should see through Layer 1 and Layer 2 and Blue color of Layer 3 should be visible from the hollow section.
Though I can do this by Flattening Layer 1 and Layer 2 together so that it forms one single Image, and then when I hollow this Flattened image using Layer Mask, then it will show me Blue color. But I do not want to do this, as I would lose the flexibility to unhollow/recover the hollow region on both Layer 1 and Layer 2 independently in the future.
I am trying to get a white layer with see through writing which reveals the background image underneath. (Almost like I have put a stencil over a photograph). I have discovered this is called a clipping mask.
However, I am having difficulty using a clipping mask over multiple text layers. It seems to only do it to one layer directly beneath. I do not want to merge the text layers as I want to mess about with the design a fair bit.
author one mask that effects multiple layers without using a group mask? Unfortunately I can't throw all the layers in a group and use a group mask in this case since the layers that I want to share the mask must be in different group folders. (I am using actions to export the results of each group to the different flattened files.) So I have similar but not identical layers in separate groups that I would like to share one authored mask. I also can't use smart objects because the layers are not identical.

I'm trying to apply an opacity mask to multiple layers (which happen to be contained within a Layer Mask). When I make the Opacity Mask, it takes all of the stuff on different layers and compresses them to a single layer (see attached images). I would like to keep the data on their assigned layers for later editing. I've done this before, but I have a feeling I have a setting or pref de-selected somewhere. Could the layer mask be the culprit?

I've tried the different options in the 3D drop down menu but none of them bring me to edit in repousse.
Also, I know that I can make it 3D in After Effects my making multiples of it and what not but I don't want to go about it that way. Also, I'm working with CS5.5 and the 3D renderer plugin in After Effects is only available in CS6.
When I try and apply a channel to an adjustment of my choosing, I get a red mask across the whole image and the alteration is global as opposed to the selection of the mask if that makes any sense? [URL] ........

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have now exactly the same problem as below with over 1000 images, I have saved them in .psd that has over 100 layers each. On top of those there is curves and levels layer that affects every layer below. I want to save all images to .jpg for videoedit with those curves at least. I don't want to merge same curves 100 times. Is there a solution in phothoshop cs5 or cs6 available? Would save alot of working hours. All I have got by this far is blank white images of adjustment layers and non adjusted jpg-files.

How to merge adjustment layers to hundreds of layers?
Jul 28, 2010 10:38 AMSay I have a photoshop File with 100 layers.
And say I created 3 adjustment layers on top of those 100 layers to get the adjustments that i want for those layers. I'm happy with the adjustments but Then I NEED to merge those 3 adjustment layers to ALL those 100 layers.
Is there a way to easily permanently apply the adjustments to each of those layers without having to do it manually? I absolutely need to merge the adjustments to the seperate layers because of how the layers are being used in a seperate 3d program.
So far what I've been doing is duplicating the adjustment layers for each layer and merging them to said layers separately.. I wish I could just right click the adjustment layer and Tell it to merge to everylayer it affects or apply to every layer underneath it!
Mask tab is not showing on the Adjustment Panel. Need it for school work. Using the free 30 day Photoshop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen creating a mask from Layer-->Layer Mask-->Reveal all/Hide, I know how to generate a black mask (hide all). But when the mask is a part of an ADJUSTMENT LAYER, it always comes in "white." How do I make the adjustment layer mask "black"? Alt-clicking on the mask simply turns the entire image screen white.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe ways you apply vector masks in CS6 is different than in CS5. I knew how to apply a vector mask to a folder of layers in CS5. I cannot figure out how to do it in CS6.
So my question is: How do you apply a vector mask to a folder in Photoshop CS6?
And while we're at it, what are the best methods for applying vector masks to regular layers?
Can I load a selection and use that to paint on the mask somehow?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to apply a mask to an effect on a layer only, without masking the original layer features themself?
For example, I have a layer which I've then applied a stroke layer effect to. How can I mask parts of the stroke without affecting the original layer?
I need to merge 2 adjustment layers with 2 image layers. When I do, the look changes. Are there ways to do this without changing the look? I have attached a screen capture of the layers affected. Additionally the "Stars" layer has a "Screen" blend mode. This is on a Mac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere's a new feature where you can opt to drag a layer mask to the trash and NOT be prompted to "apply layer mask?". This also has the "do not show again" option -which I clicked by accident. So the default is now to apply layer mask when I drag a layer mask to the trash. I can't think of any way to restore the more traditional function, without restoring all other prefs.
So what I would like is a way to restore the more classic default where dragging a layer mask to trash give me the OPTION to apply or discard.
How do I apply an edit to every file in a folder? Every time I need to do this, I end up flailing around for 10 minutes before I can finally get it to work. Or, sometimes I give up and manually paste the copied settings to each file one at a time. It seems a no-brainer that "copy settings" followed by "paste settings" to all files selected would do the trick. Or "copy settings" foillowed by "Sync settings." But it doesn't work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere's my question re: editing an exisiting mask in CS6.
So, say I create the basic selection with the quick selection wand - for this example, maybe a selection of a horse.
But, if I don't get the area between the horses legs and want to select that area with the pen tool then delete it from the exisitng mask (i.e. clean up the mask with the pen tool) how do I do it?
I've seen lots of tutorials that talk about adding selections together, but that doesn't work in this case because my secondary selection is within the original selection.
I know this can be done with the brush tool (cleaning up masks) but I'd like to do it with the pen tool because the results are better.
I have 2 layers. One is a photo, and the other is a black and white layer I want to use as a mask for the photo.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am making selections of models off of a white background. I use the quick select tool and refine to make a clean selection. I go in and use the clone tool to remove the "halo" that is still there to make a super clean selection with no light bleed on the model. I put a black layer underneath to make sure that I got all of the remnants. I save the selection and turn it into a channel. I apply the layer mask and everything looks good. I flatten the image and put it on a white background (this is the desired form of delivery for client) Image saved and closed. When reopened, I make a selection using the channel and there is a distinct halo effect still present. I have tried making the selection and going over it a couple times with the brush at 100% and it works a little bit, but not entirely. I have already spent a lot of time going through cloning things out so it looks good, delivering the images, then they are sent back because of the halo.
View 8 Replies View Relatedim trying to make an adjustment to one section of my footage.i followed other instructions elsewhere about making a mask on a solid and then linking the solid to a null object, which has tracking footage (i was thinking i could motion track a mask?)
so i did that, but tracking motion doesnt work, the mask moves everywhere so i went in and moved the mask points at keyframes, which was annoying. but now i can't add adjustments to the solid where the mask is. i turned the solid into an adjustment layer but adding color correction adjustments doesn't work.
i have to use after effects by the way. basically tl:dr i need to color correct one section (or the masked part) of my footage. how can i do that in AE?
also is there an easier way to motion track something that goes completely off screen or out of the comp window? cause its a handheld shot and theres like a pan, and im trying to track the mask but it doesnt really work or stay around the area it needs to.
1) Take a color image and apply a color-shift local adjustment to a portion of the image.
2) Convert the image to B&W.
Result -- The main image is converted to B&W, but the local adjustment doesn't change, i.e. it's still colored. Here's a trivial (and not-realistic) example of what happens:
My goal is to adjust the colors and the apply the B&W conversion to the entire processed image, not just the original piece. Is there a way to do this? I feel like I'm missing something small and easy.
how to apply the Mask & Chroma Key. I've dragged a Color into the timeline, and selected OPTIONS and then Mask & Chroma Key, but all I have now is a neon green glob on my screen that covers everything else (because that's the color I chose.)
So how do I blot out the background of a brief video clip?
And - for that matter - I'm trying to find some tutorials so I can try out features without continuing to bother everyone?
