how to apply the Mask & Chroma Key. I've dragged a Color into the timeline, and selected OPTIONS and then Mask & Chroma Key, but all I have now is a neon green glob on my screen that covers everything else (because that's the color I chose.)
So how do I blot out the background of a brief video clip?
And - for that matter - I'm trying to find some tutorials so I can try out features without continuing to bother everyone?
I'm editing videos that are 1080i (I forget the model number, but it's a Canon camcorder and I think it's actually 1440x1080.) When rendered normally, everything looks fine and the interlacing is not really noticable.
However, some of the videos have been resized, and the background replaced using a green screen / chroma key. When someone's hands move away from their body and over the background, the interlacing is very noticable and looks pretty bad. I have tried rendering using both default templates with Upper Field First, and custom Frame Based templates, none of which work to reduce the interlacing. Is there a way to reduce it, or am I stuck with it?
The chromakey function works passably well when I'm using it without any effects (I still have issues with transparency) but seems to work not at all when I apply an effect. I've tried applying sketch, rotosketch, colored ink, emboss, etc to the overlay after I've chroma keyed out the green and it basically eliminates the green screen effect.
There are SOOO many issues with this program that are really beginning to make it unusable for me.
-- Transitions applied to overlays (even a simple cross fade) usually affect all clips playing at that time (not just the specified overlay effect) which makes them unusable for overlays.
-- Even with smart proxy turned on, the preview video gets garbled and choppy after a few playings.
It's just a shame because the interface really is more intuitive than any other program I've used (after effects, Premiere, Vegas).
The ways you apply vector masks in CS6 is different than in CS5. I knew how to apply a vector mask to a folder of layers in CS5. I cannot figure out how to do it in CS6.
So my question is: How do you apply a vector mask to a folder in Photoshop CS6?
And while we're at it, what are the best methods for applying vector masks to regular layers?
Can I load a selection and use that to paint on the mask somehow?

I have found where / how to apply a background mask to text (listed in the properties box when I highlight text). The list of fill colors does not include white. I was hoping to create a background mask that did not add a shaded box to a black and white print but simply blocked out the contents behind the text.
I am using 2010 LT if this makes a difference.
to make the text image in the attached file. I want to apply a bevel to the text now that I have alpha masked it to get the gradient effect. But the bevel tool is treating the entire image (not just the text) as my selected object.
When I get done with the alpha mask, how do I get the text only as my selected object so that the bevel tool will apply the bevel to only the text?
I'm trying to get the text effect in this link: [URL] or something close to it. A previous post asked the same thing but the only answers he got was how to make it look gold, not how to do all the beveling, textures, sparkles, etc. For now though, all I'm wanting to do is achieve the bevel effect before I move on.
edit: the weird thing is, I can use the outline tool and it will apply only to the text. but when i use the bevel tool, it applies to the outer edges of the canvas.
How do I apply the mask track feature on After Effects CC? I can't seem to find it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere's a new feature where you can opt to drag a layer mask to the trash and NOT be prompted to "apply layer mask?". This also has the "do not show again" option -which I clicked by accident. So the default is now to apply layer mask when I drag a layer mask to the trash. I can't think of any way to restore the more traditional function, without restoring all other prefs.
So what I would like is a way to restore the more classic default where dragging a layer mask to trash give me the OPTION to apply or discard.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am making selections of models off of a white background. I use the quick select tool and refine to make a clean selection. I go in and use the clone tool to remove the "halo" that is still there to make a super clean selection with no light bleed on the model. I put a black layer underneath to make sure that I got all of the remnants. I save the selection and turn it into a channel. I apply the layer mask and everything looks good. I flatten the image and put it on a white background (this is the desired form of delivery for client) Image saved and closed. When reopened, I make a selection using the channel and there is a distinct halo effect still present. I have tried making the selection and going over it a couple times with the brush at 100% and it works a little bit, but not entirely. I have already spent a lot of time going through cloning things out so it looks good, delivering the images, then they are sent back because of the halo.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs I load photos into the video track, some of them allow me to apply panning and zooming (either auto p&z or customized), and others don't allow it.
For about half my images, the auto p&z is grayed out, and on the Photo Options panel, the P&Z option is gray and the radio button can't be activated.
For both images that work and images that don't work, they are all .tif files of varying sizes. I can't see any logic in why some images allow P&Z and others don't. I'll drag and drop an image onto the video track, and if the P&Z is grayed out, I'll delete it, drag and drop another image, and boom, no problems.
P&Z is active.What's the problem?

I come from the video field, I started taking professionals photographs recently and took some pictures against a green background for a video that I was doing.
What is the BEST way to do a chroma key on photoshop? I dont find any 'chroma key' function as in Adobe Premiere for example, but I know there must be a way. I tried 'selecting' and area but I dont think that's the best way to do it
Please have in mind I am not an 'expert' on photoshop, I know my way around it and can follow instructions very well.
I am using the CS2 version.
When photographing a subject in front of or standing on a Chromakey background, I always get reflected blue light on the subject. I can't seem to get rid of the background in photoshop without spilling over into the subject.
What can I do? I have CS 2.
I'm making great progress with my movie making skills! But.... I'm trying to add some transitions to a series of images and I keep getting "there is no gap to apply a transition effect". Trouble is I can't see how I can make a gap.

I have a project with multiple images dropped on an overlay track. After I've placed them all, I'd like to apply the same fade out effect to all of them at once. I've tried shift/click and crtl/click to select more than one, but it doesn't work.

I'm trying videostudio pro x5 and it looks very nice, but I have a problem that I think will lead to be a big limitation in the potential this software has, so I guess this is a bug or maybe I am not using it in the right way. I just hope is not that way by design
Anyway, the problem is that when I apply a filter to an animation or to an image (like PNG) that has alpha channel, I can see the filter coverin the whole frame if the clip is in the main video track, while if I move it to the overlay track the filter will only stay inside the picture, for example I've tried this with the lens flare.. please see this image (situation 1 on top and then situation 2 bellow the orange line):
I'd expect the lens flare to go over the transparent area of the clip so that it will be overlaid with the "background" main video track, but it is not. This is just an example but for example the same happens if I apply the lightning filter to a text filter or to a png..
I also have a similar concern with the free TitlerEx plugin that I've downloaded after registering: if I put it on an overlay track I can't just have the text with transparent background overlaid to the main video track.
I'm currently creating slide show with about 1,000 photos. BTW, I need to apply automate pan and zoom feature on all 1,000 photos. Is there any method to apply this at one time instead of manually every single photo?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a project in which I'm taking still images of various products against a static background. Up to this point, I've been manually cutting the products out of their background, a very tedious activity.
Taking a step back, I realized that I have many thousands of photos to take and clean up, and that this manual manipulation just isn't going to "cut it" (pun, haha).
I have been trying to find a program of sorts that will remove a particular color (preferably specified by its hex code) from a photo, and perhaps replace it with white, or resize/crop the image.
With this program I would be able to take the pictures against an obnoxious background color that could be quickly done away with by a computer.
I guess this is known by many terms in "the industry", including chroma key, matting, compositing, etc.
I have run across a couple of possible programs (Ultimatte, Adobe After Effects), but I don't know much about any of them.
One other feature that would be, well, desired would be command-line functionality. Ideally, I would be able to incorporate said program into a script that can process a huge list of photos while I'm off doing other things.
I have upgraded to Video Studio X3. I am making a simple collection of photos into a film. I have imported them all into the timeline but a warning message that they were too large to accept the default 10secs display time.
How do I apply a standard display time?
Is there a way to apply slow motion to just a couple of seconds or so of a clip without having it apply to the whole clip?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issue with a simple project. It's a simple green chroma keying project which looks ok inside Premiere, but once exported it turns into a nightmare. I will post screens instead of writing the details. I am not using any external plugins. The output is rendered with tweaked settings for H.264 Vimeo 720p 29.97 fps MP4 format. I'm working with an NDA, but the problem is only in the shadows as far as I can tell.

I am not able to apply "Border/Shadow/Transparency" upon editing a title. When I try to do it, I get the message: "Encountered an Improper argument".
