Best steps that I need to take with this. I am not sure what PMS green I want at this stage.

Because you need to start with a greyscale to get to duotone, correct?

Apr 13, 2009With a RGB or CYMK no problem for me to have certain element in the picture distinguishing from the rest. But now I have to do the same building up in duotone (2 PMS colours). It looks like Photoshop doesn't allow to put a black&white layer into a duotone document (it automatically turns into the 2 duotone colours).
So how can i make a duotone image (source = FC) in which a part looks "black and white" (1 colour=black) and a part "lights up" in the second colour (2 colour= yellow)?
- so I know how to make a duotone image, that's not the problem
- i know how to work with layers and masks
(i try to upload the image.. but server seems very busy...)

When I save the image for web, the preview that opens up, then image is fine again. It seems to be just an on screen, in PS problem.

When I print out this image, it has an overall green hue and I cant figure out why. I have the black/grayscale box checked in the advanced print settings, but that has still not fixed my problem.

Feb 27, 2013My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?

Feb 9, 2012I am deciding to switch over to gimp from pixelmator because of the extra features. However, there is one thing that is making me concerned is some limitations in the filters.
How do I create a checkerboard pattern (using the filter) which has a green color for its primary color and transparency for its secondary color? In pixelmator this is easily done because there are extra color pickers in that filter supports transparency, so no problem. However, this isn't the case in gimp.

Apr 27, 2012I have two Duotone images generated using CS5. One is of some trees, with "holes" cut out where the leaves were (I used a a mask to generate transparent regions where the leaves should be), and another Duotone image of just the leaves. I would like to combine the two, with each Duotone image retaining its unique and different color scheme. If all went well, the leaves would be visible in the transparent "holes" of the tree image. However, when I try combining the two, by dragging one on top of the other, they both take on the Duotone color scheme of the trees image. So I do see the leaves in the "holes", but they have lost their unique coloring. Is it possible to combine these two Duotone images in some manner? The Duotones are saved in the default .psd format.

Apr 3, 2007I done cmyk with spot plate in photoshop saving the file as a DCS 1.0 file type which gives me a file with an eps extension that I can place into InDesign for color seperation purposes. When I check the color seperation, all both cmyk and spot plates show up.
I need to make a Duotone with a spot plate. When I try to make a duotone and use a spot plate, the DSC option does not come up. I can only save as Photoshop, eps, large document format, pdf, photoshop 2 and raw. None of these give me the spot plate preview in Indesign.

Aug 2, 2012I have a duotone image (warm grey and black) as an eps in photosho linked to Illustrator file. I need to be able to adjust each color as needed in photoshop. It is already setup as a duotone image and correctly separates in illustrator. I can do overall adjustments as needed but I would like to be able to throw a curve/adjust each color on it's own as needed in photoshop, and then relink.

Jun 12, 2008I have a 2-color logo that is in TIFF format but was created as CMYK. It is black and Pantone 323. I am using it in a two-color job and need it to be in the 2 spot colors. I changed it to grayscale and then changed it to duotone, but the colored part shows up pretty muddy and dark looking, like it has too much black in it. I have tried changing the curves but that doesn't seem to help much. If it is duotone and the colors are specified to the printer, will it print correctly, even though it looks yucky onscreen?

I've looked around the net a number of times, but it's also one of those things that I don't really know what to search for. I'm guessing it would come under some kind of duotone or limited palette affair.

Everyone has seen what I'm talking about I'm sure. If you imagine a nice, sharp, black and white photo - then imagine superimposing a colour on top. So you have the same nice sharp contours and tones - except you now have black, colour shades and white - instead of grey shades.

The when I try to change modes to RGB so I can save as a jpg it goes all b&w. Never had this issue before. This seems to happen only when I use the artistic filter graphic pen. I go to graphic pen use it, then grayscale, then duotone, then rgb.

I had a rough deisgn to i converted ot greyscale but then no option for dutone was available.
So I made a new greyscale file...import the layers i want into a new psd file made to be the right size i require.
then convert to greyscale and save
but i still have no option to make duotone...
With other files not included the layeres i have imported in it works but not with these.

Feb 17, 2009I have the trial version for my laptop (windows), and we use a Mac at school. Anyway, I have an assignment to do and it involves creating a 1 pt. black stroke around an image. I found where it says "stroke" but it is either grayed out at top under 'edit', or down on the right 'add a layer style' I hit stroke and nothing changed on my photo. I have looked at the Help menu and tried what they said and still the image won't change. Please help! This assignment is due tonight (I wasn't able to get Photoshop to unzip and open on my computer all weekend which is why it took this long).
