Photoshop :: Purple And Green Hues In Mid-tones In Black / White?
Jan 10, 2013
is there a way to remove or avoid getting purple & green hues in midtones (occasionally in shadows) when making images black and white?
I've been using the channel mixer (most times the red channel) to covert images to black and white and there's noticable purple/green hues.

I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.

1st attempt: Imagine that you have two colors, red and black, and you want to mix 10 drops of red with 3 drops of black. You get a specific color - a weird dark red. Now imagine I have a image with only that solid color and I want to replace those 3 drops of black with three drops of white. How can I do that?
2nd attempt: Normal A4 sheets are white, but I want to print a image (with no white or light colors) on a black sheet of paper. I don't need to use a black cartridge, because the black is already there in the paper sheet. How can I remove the "black tones" in order to get proper colors when printing?
All this to answer one bottom question, which is also my 3rd attempt on this:
3rd attempt: I have access to a modified printer that has white ink on the black ink cartridge; that way, If I write a few words in black and print them out on a black sheet of paper, I'll have a white text. This is very simple if I want only to print text; set font color to black and print, ending with a white text printout. But what if I have a photograph, for example, and I want to print it on a black sheet? If I have a white boat, for example, its' color has to be changed to black. If I want to print a light green, I have to have a dark green on my image. Is there any way to do this?

I have this Image: [URL]......
I am trying to keep the same image, but change the green hues to blue hues. I am fairly positive I can recreate the bottom part of the image (the rectangle with rounded edges aka a button), but I don't know how to add the top parts after that. Ideally I would just like to be able to change the greens to blues.

I have Photoshop Elements 10, and am trying to print a black and white drawing that was scanned, then sent to me via email. When I print out this image, it has an overall green hue and I cant figure out why. I have the black/grayscale box checked in the advanced print settings, but that has still not fixed my problem.

I shoot in Camera RAW on a Canon 5D2 in LR3 and I'm having colour issues; skin tones are often purple/magenta tinted and very difficult to correct. I usually set the WB to Custom and shoot a grey card and set the picture style on the camera to Neutral (why does the WB affect RAW images anyway, I thought it only operated on the jpgs?)
On import, pics often look ok then resolve into higher contrast, garish colour versions which are less pleasing - have I set a preference incorrectly or am I missing something else?

I just bought a certain Nikon camera, which I recently discovered is notoriuous for producing green shadows in skin tones, the darker the shadow the worse it looks.
How to isolate and adjust these shadows and make them more true to real skin tones? It can't be a globally applied color correction because only the shadows are out of whack and the rest of the image looks great. Reduce green globally will make the rest of the image too red.

When I go to open photos - they are opening in blue-green-purple colors as if a filter is being applied. The color pallette is also appearing with the same blue-purple colors. In the layers pallette - the icon of the image appears in the normal colors and no filters, etc. have been applied. It's all starting from when selecting the photo to be opened in photoshop.

I came across a problem. I have a logo that had a white background and I did a Alpha to transparent on it to remove the white. Now I get this purple/white line around the image.

I used trace to do a trace of my image. I then used live paint to paint chunks of it. When I hovered over each bit, it would come up with a thick pink line and would fill in that line. So all was going well, I got everything the colour I wanted it, etc. I tried to export my image to a PDF and the purple lines that were so useful to me when I was doing live paint still showed up, but showed up as a white outline. I read forums and tried everything-deselected the keep ability to edit in illustrator and create acrobat layers from top level layers. But every time I try to open it in preview on the mac, the purple lines are still there. I can "click off of them" within illustrator, ie-select somewhere else on the page and it makes them go away, but even if they aren't showing up when I save it, they still show up on preview. I can't print it out like it is now!

I wanted to make a decal to place on the acrylic window of my PC. I found the perfect picture, which is in black and white. For it to look right though, I need to switch the black to white, and vice versa. Is there a way with Photoshop to automatically switch these, instead of having to manually switch them.

When I am going through RAW files from my Canon cameras (1Ds MkIII and 6D) I edit them in the develop module and then convert to aRGB or sRGB depending on the output media. They look good in aRGB and sRGB too when I take into account the limitations of sRGB.
---> However, if I try the softproof to aRGB or sRGB the resulting proof crushes dark tones into solid black. Why is this when the actual conversions are way better? The actual conversions look good in both LR and PS CS5.
I have also noticed that when I upload images to my online galleries and view them with Firefox (latest version and color management enabled for all rendered graphics) they appear darker in the darkest tones than what they appear in LR. What gives?

I shot an event for a couple (a reception) and I didn't have my gray card so I set my Canon 5D mkII on auto white balance (shooting with a Canon 24-70 2.8 and a Sigma 85 1.4). As you'll see from the two example photos - the shots taken in the venue lobby looked fine, but the shots from inside the event itself were amazingly saturated. The room had a ton of very bright uplighting in purple and pink - the shots looked fine in the viewfinder, but once I brought them into LR4, there was a nearly complete purple/pink cast over everything. Setting the white balance in LR to auto, tungsten, flourescent - nothing worked. Adjusting the temp sliders - only slightly better. Reducing vibrance and saturation useful a little more, but I'm really having a hard time finding a fix!

I have a multilayered psd file. All layers should remain opaque except the black to white gradient layer where I need the white to be transparent. So that when I place the final psd on top of a block of solid colour in Indesign the gradient shows the background colour through where the black fades off.

I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white. My photo is of course a color image. How I can correct this or what I need to do to get back to the default setting that will render blue & white instead of black and white?

Today I downloaded a trial version of PSE. This means of course that I'm new to the game. I can follow a step-by-step guide though. Here's what I'd like to do: I've taken a dozen photos of an actor with a green screen as a background. Is there a way that I can chroma-key out the green and put in another color, like gray or perhaps a textured off-white?

Is there a way to mix an off-white color to a green color? I'm not referring to adjusting the brightness and adding white, I'm referring to taking a green and adding some other custom off white color?

I would like to draw parts in 3d view which look very basic, i.e. out of a book.
Example:
white block with black lines so you can see it is 3d.background should also be white.
How do i set autocad (2012/2013) to do this. I would like the model space to be the same and not just for printing.

I'm trying to edit an image to make a white railway carriage green. I've managed to change the existing colours to make it flat, and I worked out how to make highlighting by painting which saved a lot of heartbreak, but now the overlay comes through as a really garish colour or obliterates all detail.
What is the best setting to colour something like this?
