Paint.NET :: Changing Black Tones To White And Vice-versa
Aug 24, 2013
1st attempt: Imagine that you have two colors, red and black, and you want to mix 10 drops of red with 3 drops of black. You get a specific color - a weird dark red. Now imagine I have a image with only that solid color and I want to replace those 3 drops of black with three drops of white. How can I do that?
2nd attempt: Normal A4 sheets are white, but I want to print a image (with no white or light colors) on a black sheet of paper. I don't need to use a black cartridge, because the black is already there in the paper sheet. How can I remove the "black tones" in order to get proper colors when printing?
All this to answer one bottom question, which is also my 3rd attempt on this:
3rd attempt: I have access to a modified printer that has white ink on the black ink cartridge; that way, If I write a few words in black and print them out on a black sheet of paper, I'll have a white text. This is very simple if I want only to print text; set font color to black and print, ending with a white text printout. But what if I have a photograph, for example, and I want to print it on a black sheet? If I have a white boat, for example, its' color has to be changed to black. If I want to print a light green, I have to have a dark green on my image. Is there any way to do this?

I have a Black and White text logo which I want to invert/reverse the colours on. Yes it's that simple, but I can't get paint.net to do it. In the attached file, I need Black to be White, and vice-versa. Anything else needs to be left as it is.

I've just recently upgraded to CS2 from version 7 as well as upgrading to a new G5 dual 2.7 gHz Mac. I love the new Mac and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. However, I've set Photoshop preferences to automatically launch Bridge at startup but it opens the Open Script dialog instead. When I launch Bridge and select an image to be opened in Photoshop it does nothing.
I've tried uninstalling Photoshop and deleting preferences but it still doesn't fix this problem. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found the solution. I've looked all over the Adobe site (and here) for an answer but have found nothing.

My current photo editing software (Microsoft PhotoDRaw) has the ability to do this and wondering if I can achieve the same in CorelDraw X5 or PhotoPaint Pro X3. I just reinstalled both and need to start using them since PhotoDraw only work up till Windows XP and I use Virtual Machine to run it.
Here you go. If say I open a new project to any page size of my choice and import any image (any size) into the page. Is there a way I can automatically fit the page to the image size in either CorelDraw X5or PhotoPaint X3? That is, if my default page size is letter (8.5"x11") and I import an image that is 2.2"x5", can I automatically fit the default page to the fit the image at 2.2"x5"? Really very handy too. Can I also do the reverse image to paper size? If I can do either, where do I go?

is there a way to remove or avoid getting purple & green hues in midtones (occasionally in shadows) when making images black and white?
I've been using the channel mixer (most times the red channel) to covert images to black and white and there's noticable purple/green hues.

I have a logo in the form of a png file. It is text with a drop shadow and has a transparent background. This works well on a sites light background but they want to be able to use it on black backgrounds also.
How to change this black logo to white and keep the subtle, faint opacity of the drop shadow? Also, keeping the transparent background?

I am a glass artist and I have some projects that revolve around being able to turn a photo into black and white. I notice that when it is in black and white it is actually in about 10 shades of gray as well. I need it to be only in black and white. It would also be nice to know how to turn a colored photo into maybe four or five different colors and still have it look somewhat normal.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am working on a project that has 10,000 glass pieces in it, but it revolves around knowing how to do these things.

I have a bddy that's seen me do some fun things with PS, and I'm always looking for a challenge so he asked me if I could turn him into a white guy to see what he'd look like. My first thought was to use the color replacement tool, i used all the default setting for it but hanged the color part to background swatch. I then used the background swatch from his skin tone, and for the front color I chose a peach colored tone, but the problem is al it does it slightly lighten up his skin tone. I tried alternative colors such as blue, and it hanged his skin tone to blue right away...

see the same image is used in all color variations of this product. I would imagine they shot something with contrasting dual colors since it would be harder to mask the solid white or black but my question is how do they change the color from black to white or visa versa without loosing any shadow integrity in the process?

I am just facing a challenge — I need to convert black T-shirt into whithe, but the fabric is textured. See the attached IMGs:
I tried several things, but the best result I got looks somehow close to this disaster:
Despite strong Curves Adjustment layer, there seems to be not a chance to get some contrast.
See how looks similar shirt from a slightly different material — just to get a brief idea:
Inversion will not work because of shadows, Shadows/Highlights does not work much. Converting from White to black is much more easier & almost perfect — because of this, there should be a reverse way…

I sell a template that has a transparent layer in sections, after saving as jpeg it is supposed to go white, but for some of my customers it recently started going black!I at first thought it had to do with not pasting the layers correctly, but its like this after export, so I don't think that should matter...I've attached a sample image so you can see what is happening. Where it is black, it was originally transparent around the circle image, and normally would save white.

I'm having quite a bit of a problem with Paint.NET.
I'm scanning some text and saving it in black and white BMP files, usually around 60KB each.
Thing is, I need to edit those files to rotate the image a bit (sometimes the pages are misplaced) and when I save them as PNG files, they end up being even larger than the original file (around 100KB each).
I tried opening them up using Win7's Paint, and after saving them as PNG, I get a file of around 16KB.
Obviously there's some setting in Paint.NET that I'm missing, would you mind pointing me to it?
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that I've also fiddled around with the settings in the "Save as..." dialog to no avail

I've tried creating a "draw filled shape" with white and pasting the bar code onto a layer above that but it does not work!

I'm a complete newbie and I'm trying to design some T-shirts using public domain clip art of old woodcuts and pen and ink illustrations. I want to have them printed by an online site. The trouble I'm having is making the image transparent so that the black line art is solid but the color of the t-shirt shows through. the illustrations are so intricate it is impossible to use the magic wand or erase the white area within the illustration. Is there a simple way to do what I want to do?
