View 4 Replies View RelatedI was simply wondering the best means in Paint.Net to use a black and white image and use it as the alpha channel of my image, with white being opaque and black being fully transparent. I looked through the plugins on the site and didn't see anything that seemed to resemble what I was after.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs a very long time user of Paint Shop (back to the early JASC days) and using the program primarily for producing bmp and jpg files with lots of graphics, an irritation in later versions has been the need to 'flatten' the layers periodically while working on an image. In past versions (don't remember how far past) one could set defaults such that you automatically worked in a single layer. I don't specifically remember how this was done (only that it could be done) and have not 'rediscovered' how to do it in my current X3 version and assume it will be the same in my (on order) X4. Is there a way to default into single layer work?
BTW: I strongly second the dislike of the graphite color scheme so certainly hope X4 gets 'fixed' to allow one to get rid of it.
I also note that after using the pop-up that appeared in X3 startup to order X4, my X3 became inoperable and had to reload it!
I'm having quite a bit of a problem with Paint.NET.
I'm scanning some text and saving it in black and white BMP files, usually around 60KB each.
Thing is, I need to edit those files to rotate the image a bit (sometimes the pages are misplaced) and when I save them as PNG files, they end up being even larger than the original file (around 100KB each).
I tried opening them up using Win7's Paint, and after saving them as PNG, I get a file of around 16KB.
Obviously there's some setting in Paint.NET that I'm missing, would you mind pointing me to it?
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that I've also fiddled around with the settings in the "Save as..." dialog to no avail
I want a plugin that make the black and white (pic. 1) pictures to color pictures (pic. 2) like RED or what hex you add in. Opposite of Black and White addon (pic. 3).

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I'm trying to print a bar code onto black card. I need there to be a white background underneath the bar code otherwise the entire thing will come out black.
I've tried creating a "draw filled shape" with white and pasting the bar code onto a layer above that but it does not work!
I'm a complete newbie and I'm trying to design some T-shirts using public domain clip art of old woodcuts and pen and ink illustrations. I want to have them printed by an online site. The trouble I'm having is making the image transparent so that the black line art is solid but the color of the t-shirt shows through. the illustrations are so intricate it is impossible to use the magic wand or erase the white area within the illustration. Is there a simple way to do what I want to do?

I'm having a problem printing out a black and white photo. This is the first time I'm tring to print from PSP 3. When the photo is printed out, instead of looking like what I did in PSP 3, it looks like it was imbossed and black pencil. I have done a search and played around with PSP 3 with no luck..Even reinstalled PSP 3. If I go to the photo file, both the saved and the original, and print it directly, they comes out near perfect, except for a purple tint in both. You do not see the purple tint in the photo when in PSP 3 or the saved file untill it is priinted out.

I have a color photo I want to change it to black and white (easy enough) Next I want to add some color into some flowers
Example: Color Photo changed to Black and White My flowers from my wedding were all white...how do I add soft pink touches to the flowers?
I have some black and white photos from my wedding and I want to add some colour to them. It looks like it will be too much effort to recolour the whole photo so I might settle for just colouring the waistcoats for a splash effect.
I have read lots of tutorials for Paint.NET and for GIMP [URL] Essentially I do the following:
Add a new layer
Use lasso to select the waistcoat
Use bucket fill with the purple colour
Select multiply for the layer.
This gives me the result I am looking for, but only in the region that I have selected.
Not surprising really, but something that I can't get right and that seems to be skipped over in all the tutorials is: how do I select the area correctly?
Unless I go down to a really high zoom and spend ages with the selection, I end up either not selecting everything or I end up with leakage into other parts of the clothes.
This tutorial [URL] for a paid for product seems to let you just roughly choose your selection then it uses some algorithm for edge detection to make the correct selection.
Is there anything in Paint.Net to choose the selection like this? I have tried the magic wand, but the since the picture is greyscale, it chooses random selections all over the image instead of just the waistcoat.
What format would I need to save a scanned in black and white line drawing so that I can color it in using the Fill function (like a comic book)? I used to do it with earlier versions on PhotoPaint (6 and 9) but haven't done it in a while and now cannot find the right format.
Now what happens is when I use the fill function the whole image turns to the selected color, it wont recognize the black lines as borders.
How to create a photo that has a specific area of a photo containing the original color and the rest of the photo be black and white. I am using Corel Paitshop Pro X4 Ultimate.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI started with a tif image that's a black & white drawing and used the fill tool to fill in some black areas that were supposed to be solid, but weren't. I also did a lot of cutting to get rid of specks on the image. It looked fine when I closed and saved it, but when I went to convert it to a PDF, all my tif's have a black background and white lettering--should be just the opposite. I have gone into the images and they all look that way (apart from the PDF). I'm guessing this is a layer issue, but I'm new to this program and can't figure out what I did wrong and how to fix it. I really don't want to start over. So, to restate, everything that should be black is white and all that should be white is black.
