View 3 Replies View RelatedI have converted the same image from color to black and white using the channel mixer and using the black and white adjustment, and there appears to be a slight, almost imperceptible, loss of sharpness in the image converted with the channel mixer. Is there any research showing that a loss of sharpness will, in fact, occur when using using channel mixer when converting color images to black and white?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to covert a color photo into black and white but bring back a certain color. How many ways are there to do this? Which method is the most professional (as in provides the most professional finished product) I've read about doing it using the paint brush to bring back the color, also the color selection tool.
The particular image I'm trying to achieve this on is not so simple. The part I want to bring color back into is a dripping pink ice cream, so there are small drips and blobs, often with fair skin color in the background. Ice cream is dripping down face and hands and body and I want to preserve these details accurately. The bits I need to bring back aren't large blocks of color so I'm finding it very difficult to achieve a professional look.
there are two steps that have to be done:
1) convert the new digital image into an black and white one with that special look (is it the contrast, that makes that special b/w-look?)
2) make it look like disturbed or cracked, cut u and incomplete around the corners, a look, that must be the result of that old technique they have used for the photos at that time.
Is it possible to recreate that look for images, done with a digital camera today?(I have added a example image of an "old west show" I did, that is one of the images I would like to manipulate)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI applied a photo filter to my image (as a layer). Now the Enhance > Convert to Black and White option is grayed out. If it matters, the pencil tool is active. I don't need the pencil tool active for what I'm doing.
When I select the background layer, the Convert to Black and White option is available.
What do I need to do to make the Convert to Black and White tool available on the photo filter layer? How do I turn the pencil tool off?

I am working for a Publishers, and I keep forgetting to convert the file to Grayscale after running the Wizard.
Wouldn't it have been easier to add this as an option at the end, and have they done this in Photoshop Elements 11 (or later...)?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having quite a bit of a problem with Paint.NET.
I'm scanning some text and saving it in black and white BMP files, usually around 60KB each.
Thing is, I need to edit those files to rotate the image a bit (sometimes the pages are misplaced) and when I save them as PNG files, they end up being even larger than the original file (around 100KB each).
I tried opening them up using Win7's Paint, and after saving them as PNG, I get a file of around 16KB.
Obviously there's some setting in Paint.NET that I'm missing, would you mind pointing me to it?
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that I've also fiddled around with the settings in the "Save as..." dialog to no avail
I want a plugin that make the black and white (pic. 1) pictures to color pictures (pic. 2) like RED or what hex you add in. Opposite of Black and White addon (pic. 3).

I have a logo - blue and green colors, good for a white background. BUT, I want to place the logo on a dark green background.
SO, I want to convert all of the clors in the logo to White, but I don't know the best way to go about it. I tried using the paint bucket tool, but all of the shapes and letters have jagged edges with varying shades that are visible when zoomed in (dithered?), and the results I get when using the paint bucket aren't ideal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have done a little work and created these images. The blur does not look completely right to me because I just used the free select tool and would copy the coin part of the picture out and paste it back on with a different layer and line it up as well as I could. I would really like to make it look a lot better with no blurred part of the coin in the back ground. I would also like to turn the background of the image B&W and leave the coin in color.

I'm a complete newbie and I'm trying to design some T-shirts using public domain clip art of old woodcuts and pen and ink illustrations. I want to have them printed by an online site. The trouble I'm having is making the image transparent so that the black line art is solid but the color of the t-shirt shows through. the illustrations are so intricate it is impossible to use the magic wand or erase the white area within the illustration. Is there a simple way to do what I want to do?
