View 3 RepliesI want to covert a color photo into black and white but bring back a certain color. How many ways are there to do this? Which method is the most professional (as in provides the most professional finished product) I've read about doing it using the paint brush to bring back the color, also the color selection tool.
The particular image I'm trying to achieve this on is not so simple. The part I want to bring color back into is a dripping pink ice cream, so there are small drips and blobs, often with fair skin color in the background. Ice cream is dripping down face and hands and body and I want to preserve these details accurately. The bits I need to bring back aren't large blocks of color so I'm finding it very difficult to achieve a professional look.
I want to convert a black and white tif image to colour. I opened it in Photoshop, changed the mode to RGB colour/8, saved it as psd, but when I use the Replace Colour dialogue box, I just get my colour showing as grey-scale. What’s the correct way to proceed?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have converted the same image from color to black and white using the channel mixer and using the black and white adjustment, and there appears to be a slight, almost imperceptible, loss of sharpness in the image converted with the channel mixer. Is there any research showing that a loss of sharpness will, in fact, occur when using using channel mixer when converting color images to black and white?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI applied a photo filter to my image (as a layer). Now the Enhance > Convert to Black and White option is grayed out. If it matters, the pencil tool is active. I don't need the pencil tool active for what I'm doing.Â

When I select the background layer, the Convert to Black and White option is available.

What do I need to do to make the Convert to Black and White tool available on the photo filter layer? How do I turn the pencil tool off?Â

I'm using PSE9 on a Win7 computer.
Somehow I hit the "V" and it is converting all my pictures to black and white. How to I cancel that action?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the 'Convert to Black and White' menu option in Photoshop Elements 10, it does a good job, but it still leaves the file in RGB format (Colour)??
Â
I am working for a Publishers, and I keep forgetting to convert the file to Grayscale after running the Wizard.
Â
Wouldn't it have been easier to add this as an option at the end, and have they done this in Photoshop Elements 11 (or later...)?
I just started using Paint.net few days ago and would like to know if there are any plugins to convert my images into Black & White.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a color picture which I took, of a red berry bush. I want to remove all the color except for the red from the berries. I know how to lasso the berries, but I can't remove the color from the bush/background and leave the red berries.
Note: I did this once a couple years ago, and can't remember how I did it..I have some memories, but probably remember just enough to make me dangerous. I have done some searches but obviously the results are numeorus and I haven't found what I am looking for yet.
I know the solution involves selecting the berries and then inversing it and then setting all 3 colors to 0 for the background.
What I can do is
1) lasso the berries
2) inverse
what I can't figure out
1) it seems like there was 1 step about layering which enabled me to get started, but I don't remember this, it does seem like I am missing something very basic when I try to do this
3) Where is the color scale, the only thing I can find is the grayscale option which switches the entire project to black and white.
there are two steps that have to be done:
1) convert the new digital image into an black and white one with that special look (is it the contrast, that makes that special b/w-look?)
2) make it look like disturbed or cracked, cut u and incomplete around the corners, a look, that must be the result of that old technique they have used for the photos at that time.
Is it possible to recreate that look for images, done with a digital camera today?(I have added a example image of an "old west show" I did, that is one of the images I would like to manipulate)
I am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?
Â
Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?
I tried to set a color photo over top of a black and white one to airbrush away enough to expose the backround (the grayscale pic) but when I tried to copy onto the first layer, it turned my color photo to grayscale. I tried this with the gray pic locked and unlocked. What did I do wrong, or can this even be done?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe question that i have is, how do you do the effect, or is it even an affect where the whole pic is black and white but there is 1 color that is not. like from the attached pic you can see that the red is showing. you can see some on my skin and some on that red tape thing in the background.
View 3 Replies View Relatedtry and open the hue and saturation, it wont allow me to.
When i import the image, it will show up in color, just how it was, but I cant mess with hue or saturation.
if i select a color to draw with, it will show up a shade of grey, white or black.
I may have accidently clicked something to cause this, but im not sure how to fix it
Without actually selecting and cropping the pieces out onto another layer that you want to keep the one single color,
View 6 Replies View RelatedOK So I’ve been looking and searching around this site to try to get to know it. I found so many things that I'll use!! One thing I found but couldn't get to much detail on is coloring a grayscale image.
How do you get the hair color? Do you really need to Zoom in and just go in to detail? I guess that's what make a great Artist..

I am using Photoshop 6.0 and would like to know (in stupid people terms) if there is a way that I can make my photo black and white, but still have one color in it (for example, a black and white face except for green eyes).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some color pictures, and I was wondering if it was possible to make most of the picture black and white, while other parts stay in color. I've found some tutorials using the channel mixer, and calculations and stuff like that to make them b&w and I'm comfortable with that. Are there ways I can leave certain parts of pictures (like a sweater, or hair) in color?
View 3 Replies View Related1.(the more easier one)i have come across pictures that are straight black and white...but say...the eye color is still blue or green or the flowers in the pic still retain their color.
how in the hell did they do this, i have tried everything. i suck at this horribly so you are going to have to break it down for me.
2. i am in the army and i want to take a black and white pic of my fiance and myself....and keep the flag the current red white and blue...now, is it more difficult to do since there are 3 colors? or technically 2 because the white is part of the black and white?
