I had a rough deisgn to i converted ot greyscale but then no option for dutone was available.
So I made a new greyscale file...import the layers i want into a new psd file made to be the right size i require.
then convert to greyscale and save
but i still have no option to make duotone...
With other files not included the layeres i have imported in it works but not with these.

I own a textile screen printing business. Sometimes I vectorise photos or images into greyscale. This gives nice halftone images, once I output to my printer through my RIP, (I use Accurip). This allows us to reproduce some great images with 1 ink colour. The great thing is that we can output the greyscale image, then use any ink colour we choose on the printing press to actually print the image. If we output greyscale, we can use scarlet ink to give us all shades of scarlets and pinks if we print onto a white shirt, for example. No problem there.
However, greyscale is essentially based on a black ink, with variable transparency. When I want to do a mockup for the customer of what the image would look like with a different base/ink colour other than black, (and the variable opacities of black that form the swatch pallette), I'd like to show the image using the actual base pantone spot colour we will use. That way, the customer can see how the variences in ink transparency will look on any shirt base colour that we choose to put in a layer behind the image. Right now, we can only show what it looks like if we choose black ink.
So..... once I have a vector in greyscale, how can I recolourise all the various opacities (of black), to various opacities of...say, Red?
If I try any kind of overlay or hue / saturation changes in photoshop, the base black colour is still present, and doesn't accurately represent what would print on a white shirt.

I have a complex vector object, containing of forms of all kinds and what not. They have two colours: black and red. To use this logo in a background area, I need to make it all grey. Everything which is black or red shall then be light grey or so. But the appearance panel can't do a single thing. It just says "this is a group, I can't handle that". So I ungrouped the entire object, then there were other sub-groups. I could go on ungrouping everything forever, but that can't be the solution. When I just click on a colour in that colour panel instead, it sets the outline colour of every single element. It hasn't always done that, there were times when it would set the fill colour of all elements. But there's no switch to tell it what exactly to set. Should I way until an even or odd day so that it would set the fill colour again?
Illustrator CS6 on Windows.

With a RGB or CYMK no problem for me to have certain element in the picture distinguishing from the rest. But now I have to do the same building up in duotone (2 PMS colours). It looks like Photoshop doesn't allow to put a black&white layer into a duotone document (it automatically turns into the 2 duotone colours).
So how can i make a duotone image (source = FC) in which a part looks "black and white" (1 colour=black) and a part "lights up" in the second colour (2 colour= yellow)?
- so I know how to make a duotone image, that's not the problem
- i know how to work with layers and masks
(i try to upload the image.. but server seems very busy...)

So... what I want to do is give every player a yellow-red shirt. What I did with the palyer on the right: I just re-brushed the red and yellow on a new layer above the shirt and set the layer-style on "color" and the opacity around 80%. So far so good...
Then I wanted to do the same for the other players... But I just can't get it right. Ofcourse the problem is that the greyscale-values behind the color-layer are different every time.

I had edited an image in a layer. It is a full color image. When I dragged & droped it into a totally different photo, suddenly it appeared in greyscale. The original image in its original layer is still full color. This has never happened to me before.

I am having trouble colorizing a greyscale image. I actually did manage to do it earlier but can't remember how I did it. See attached the greyscale original image and the colorized pink image that I had created earlier. I tried inverting and colorizing but I can't seem to find the right setting. I also tried to create a pink layer and change the blend mode to color.

Any method or, perhaps, a macro to prepare a greyscale image for 2.5D laser engraving?
The foremost items are lightest and the background are darkest. I've had a look at MacroMonster but couldn't see anything.

I'm trying to print colour to my epsom inkjet but for some reason Illustrator keeps converting my colour image to greyscale.
Now I've been using Illustrator for years and this is a new problem I've not come across before. Is there something I can do to stop it doing it - maybe there's a setting that has accidentally switched on that converts all to greyscale.
If not then I suppose I'll have to revert to "turning it on and off again"!

I am working on a project at the moment, which entails cropping irregular shapes and bringing all the shapes together to form one finished image. I have added an example of the images that I am using.
I have managed to lasso an element from this sheet, but don't know how to take that element and put it on a nice new white background/sheet then take other elements from this page and other pages that I have, then create a new image from all the elements.

I am using Photoshop CS2 and Image Ready CS2. I have my signature scanned into a JPG file, and I have a form that requires my signature also in JPG format. I want to be able to paste the image of my signature into this form, but I don't want it to erase anything in the backround, that being the actual signature line on the form. I can't quite figure out how to do this using Photoshop.

how to create this effect? I am calling this duotone for the lack of better word, which it may not be. I am fairly sure two colors dominate. I do not have the original image so I canot tell what the colors looked like before adjustments.

One of the features I was really looking forward to in CS6 was creating fillable forms with ONE application. I created a form following the step by step instructions in classroom in a book for CS6. When I opened the exported form in Reader X, I get a "This operation is not permitted" error. I opened the completed "end" document in the lesson to make sure I didn't commit an error, and I got the same message when exporting. I have looked for places in menus to modify security restrictions and I can't find any. I installed the updates and that didn't solve the issue.
I saw one solution posted which is to open the document in Acrobat, then do a "save as" option. Is there anything we can do that doesn't involve buying additional software? If this is not the case, then Adobe seriously needs to change its training and advertising about this functionality.

I have two Duotone images generated using CS5. One is of some trees, with "holes" cut out where the leaves were (I used a a mask to generate transparent regions where the leaves should be), and another Duotone image of just the leaves. I would like to combine the two, with each Duotone image retaining its unique and different color scheme. If all went well, the leaves would be visible in the transparent "holes" of the tree image. However, when I try combining the two, by dragging one on top of the other, they both take on the Duotone color scheme of the trees image. So I do see the leaves in the "holes", but they have lost their unique coloring. Is it possible to combine these two Duotone images in some manner? The Duotones are saved in the default .psd format.

I done cmyk with spot plate in photoshop saving the file as a DCS 1.0 file type which gives me a file with an eps extension that I can place into InDesign for color seperation purposes. When I check the color seperation, all both cmyk and spot plates show up.
I need to make a Duotone with a spot plate. When I try to make a duotone and use a spot plate, the DSC option does not come up. I can only save as Photoshop, eps, large document format, pdf, photoshop 2 and raw. None of these give me the spot plate preview in Indesign.
how to make a duotone with a spot channel and save it in a format that will work with InDesign?

I have a duotone image (warm grey and black) as an eps in photosho linked to Illustrator file. I need to be able to adjust each color as needed in photoshop. It is already setup as a duotone image and correctly separates in illustrator. I can do overall adjustments as needed but I would like to be able to throw a curve/adjust each color on it's own as needed in photoshop, and then relink.
OS MAc SnowLeopard, CS5.
