With a RGB or CYMK no problem for me to have certain element in the picture distinguishing from the rest. But now I have to do the same building up in duotone (2 PMS colours). It looks like Photoshop doesn't allow to put a black&white layer into a duotone document (it automatically turns into the 2 duotone colours).
So how can i make a duotone image (source = FC) in which a part looks "black and white" (1 colour=black) and a part "lights up" in the second colour (2 colour= yellow)?
- so I know how to make a duotone image, that's not the problem
- i know how to work with layers and masks
(i try to upload the image.. but server seems very busy...)
I have a multilayered psd file. All layers should remain opaque except the black to white gradient layer where I need the white to be transparent. So that when I place the final psd on top of a block of solid colour in Indesign the gradient shows the background colour through where the black fades off.
The modal dialogue for Black and White has the "Colorize" option and for that "Hue" and "Saturation" sliders.
But Black and White as an adjustment layer in the adjustments palette does NOT offer the Saturation slider. At least not in my CS4 Extended on Win XP. There is the targeted adjustment tool (TAT), but it changes color, not saturation.
I am trying to make a black and white image but leave certain aspects of it in colour. I did this yesterday by applying a black and white layer and then using the eraser to get colour back. However, this no longer works for some reason. I have also tried to use the history brush tool but that doesn't work either. I'm kinda a newbie so I think I did something last time that I'm not doing this time.
I am looking to change a color logo to bw. I wanted to use the black and white adjustment layer but the option is greyed out. Is there a step I am missing? The file is cmyk and is 8bit. I am using PS CS6. What do I need to do to make this option available?
There is a photo I've downloaded from the Internet that is by a photographer who shoots in Black & White. However, when I print out the photo it comes out sepia. I tried adding a Black & White Adjustment layer, but when I go to click on the button in the adjustment palette it's grayed out. I've tried this on other photos of the photographer and does it fine.
I can't seem to get the black and white filter layer to work. When I click on "tint" a strong yelowish tone appears. When I slide the color sliders to alter the tint absolutely nothing happens. I have tried clicking on just about everything I can find in the B&W filter dialogue boxes to no avail.
I have a stock image which came with an alpha mask as a separate black and white jpg. I want to put the black and white alpha jpg on the main image as a mask, but I can't figure out how to make a regular bitmap layer which is black and white into a mask. I don't seem to be able to use this method: http://photoshop.weblogsinc.com/2005/08/16/photoshop-tip-using-one-layer-to-cre ate-a-layer-mask-for/ because that seems only to work with transparent areas, not black and white. Any Ideas?
My adjustment layers are set to come in with a white layer mask. But sometimes I want to fill that mask w. black after the adjustment and selectively brush-in the adjustment.
Is there a shortcut to quickly fill the mask w. black, w/o checking foreground/background colors; or choosing certain tools to be active; or Edit>Fill>Black, etc.? If not, how can I set my own keyboard shortcut? I don't see a Fill Black in the keyboard shortcut editing list.
Sometimes it appears that the white/black color combination that is automatically selected in layer mask editing may override the selected color combination outside of layer mask editing.
Example: 1) Open Photoshop. 2) Select two colors: white/white. 3) Create two blank documents, each with an empty Layer 1. 4) In one document, add a layer mask to Layer 1. The colors should have been automatically switched to black/white as the layer mask is selected. 5) In this document, use the gradient tool to fill the layer mask with black/white. 6) Switch to the other document, and notice that the color selection is again white/white. 7) In this other document, use the gradient tool to fill Layer 1. Notice that the layer is filled with black/white instead of white/white as selected.
Why would my Layer Masks in Adobe Photoshop CS5 extended Now be a square with a round circle in middle and not rectangular & black or white like they were originally ?
Creating a collage. Just placed a new object with a layer mask. Now I need to create a hue/saturation, levels adjustment layer and color balance adjustment layer all with masks. Ok, no problem, but when I do this, my original picture turns black and white.
I am trying to draw some red signs with white lettering, but my text is always black in paper space whether I set the text layer color to black or white. How do I make a white layer in paper space?
I sell a template that has a transparent layer in sections, after saving as jpeg it is supposed to go white, but for some of my customers it recently started going black!I at first thought it had to do with not pasting the layers correctly, but its like this after export, so I don't think that should matter...I've attached a sample image so you can see what is happening. Where it is black, it was originally transparent around the circle image, and normally would save white.
I wanted to make a decal to place on the acrylic window of my PC. I found the perfect picture, which is in black and white. For it to look right though, I need to switch the black to white, and vice versa. Is there a way with Photoshop to automatically switch these, instead of having to manually switch them.
I am having trouble with using my layer masks. I can use the masks that are hidden (shown with black screen) and apply them with the white brush, but I cant get white or shown masks to be taken off with the black brush. Sometimes, not always I have trouble adjusting the opacity of white masks. I was playing around with actions I downloaded and after applying three actions to a photo, elements froze on me. I read about trashing preferences, I dont know what that does or means but I tried to hit cntrol alt shift when photoshop was opening and nothing happened. When it first opens it shows I can install the new inspiration browser ( i dont know what that is either) thinking it was a required update I tried to update and it gave me an error message, something about the installer has been mis-configured.
I am looking to extract natural noise from a photographs material and create a black and white layer out of it, but I am new to photoshop and unsure how to proceed with this.
For example, here is a photograph of a hard plastic gun.
I have seen on forums where users will find a good reference image and use it to create a new black and white noise picture utilizing the reference.
For instance the hard plastic noise from the gun, might look like this once extracted and done correctly.
I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.
following image shows up fine on WIndows machines, but on Macs it shows up as balck instead of navy, why? I have tried svaing in PDF, JPG, PNG, and PDF nwith Mac color profiles... what is going on? PS, the navy is #0d1125
I'm using PSE8. I was using Filter>Render>Clouds and it was working for me. I must have done something because the clouds that are rendered are black & white not Blue and white. My photo is of course a color image. How I can correct this or what I need to do to get back to the default setting that will render blue & white instead of black and white?
Basically a CAD program I use only exports PNG files. The CAD program can export in black and white and in color. The color PNG files open fine in CorelDraw. The black and white PNG files just show up as a black filled box.
I have an image where i chopped seperate parts of different pictures, desaturated all 4, but on the one, there seems to be more "grays" in the black and white photo... i want the grays to be more black. Messing with the brightness and contrast isnt doing it...
I have just purchased this upgrade software having used XARA Xtreme4.0 for many years. How can I change the black background screen with white writing to grey with black writing?
I had a question about photo editing, lately I really like black and white photos, but in the hdr.So I would say that it is in black and white hdr mean something like this: How to achieve this effect in PS?I
I have changed background colors on many things in the past, but I can't seem to find a good clean way to turn this logo's background from white to black, including the center circle. I've tried selecting the white area, or the logo itself, well....you get the point.
