I've shot a bunch of NEF images on a Nikon D80 for a client who wants a calendar produced from 13 images. I'm on XP / PSCS3.
I have only been using digital for less than a year. Have been using my trusty F3 and FM2 for years. I finally got with the program and want to stack together a good efficient workflow.
It's been a bit of a guess or an experiment to me and now is the time to extract the best out of these images,
I have Camera Raw 4.6. Is this the best conversion program to use.
The images are going to be 20cm x 8, so when sharpening NEF's, how much sharpening do I do. I know that sounds a cop out but how do I tell how well it will sharpen up when it is printed. Apparent sharpening on a CTR monitor is not the same as the output sharpening to print right?
I also have available NIK Sharpener Pro 2 - is that better to sharpen with than Camera Raw 4.6?
With regard to sharpening, I really only want to sharpen a certain area, not the whole frame. Do you have a cool method of doing that. I know Quickmask, any other insights?
And what about extracting the best out of the colour. I like rich saturation but not necessarily in all channels. Is it best to do it channel by channel or not. I have PSCS3 tools and NIK Color Efex Pro 3.0 for that.
I am designing a T Shirt for my ski club.I have taken an image from a banner (made in illustrator, full colour image attached) and I want to devide into a 3 colour image for the t shirt (I am only allowed 3 colours for printing). The colours I want to use are black, white and purple. The colour of the t shirt is a light blue.I want to then put the purple logo on top of the white and black too.So I'm after a black and white grunge background with a punchy purple logo on the top.All of this should be on a tranparent or, for design purposes, light bue (same as T Shirt colour) background.
Â
how to split a full colour image into using only 3 (4 including transparent/light blue background) exact colours.
Â
If I were going to black and white I might convert to grey scale and then paint areas to fully white or fully black using an overlay brush I don't think this works for me for more than just black and white though.
Â
I have attached two of my attempts where I used the colour range selection and level adjustments. Niether was really successful though (one does not use the right colours or number of colours but looks quite cool).
I've been asked to convert an image to 2 colour for printing. I have the image as a full colour CMYK layout (with layers), but the whole thing needs to be converted to 2 colour. I have the pantone reference numbers for the 2 colours it is to be converted to. I am familiar with the hue/saturation tool, but this just seems to convert it to one colour, and you have no fine control over the exact colour you want.
View 3 Replies View Relateddiscovered the pleasures of Edit>Convert to Profile command. When I convert to a new profile (I have belatedly discovered paper profiles) from adobe RGB to Hahnelmule Photorag to be precise there is a loss of saturation I am having trouble recovering. I will avoid this problem by starting with the correct profile however I have a lot of work in the wrong profile. To keep things simple I have flattened the image.
View 12 Replies View RelatedUsually we talk about the details of the image is mostly lightness or grayscale detail, but there's another image detail type-saturation detail which we can take for use in the image manipulation, the usage of saturation detail depends on our careful observation and blend mode knowledge which give us more control of the image correction.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like know how can I discover a color saturation in an image? For example, I open an image in photoshop CS6 and I'd like to know what a color is more saturated for after to do a treatment with color balance. I tried to use a Color Sample Tool in Photoshop but without success.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to convert images to appear lijke B&W pen&ink drawings. I followed some instructions found on You Tube - (1) Duplicate Layer (2) Colour Dodeg (3) Invert (4) Gussian Blur and (5) Reduce Saturation.... However, when a layer is in "Colour Dodge" and I slide the saturation to -100, it appears to contain colour. Even though the opacity of that layer is 100%, the layer below seems to show through. The only way I can get it to go B&W is by also changing the layer below to B&W (or no saturation).
View 11 Replies View Relatedi have around a hundred images, all of which need the same treatment in that the saturation needs lifting a little.
if i set up an action to do this with one of them, is it possible to do a batch type process with the rest with one click to do all, rather than opening up each one individually? if so, could someone please point me in the right direction of how to do it?
i m using photoshop 7, pc based.
while messing around making a banner.
So I created two images.
The first image of the star I created on a black background. It uses the artistic > plastic wrap filter and hue/saturation effects. I was able to get this image the way I wanted.
The second image for the lighting effect, I created on a transparent background because I wanted to be able to apply the image over the star and give it the effect of running through the star. I also wanted to add its own hue/saturation effect separate from the star.
I was unable to apply any hue/saturation effect to the lighting effect image. I tried adding placing this image on top of the first (the star) and adding an adjustment layer for hue/saturation, however, when I added the colorization both images took the effect. I have the effect I want for the star, I want to be able to add the same effect, yet different coloring to the lighting waves.

problem:if i drag an image on my secondary (image editing) monitor the images saturation/color changes while i drag it. on mouse release it goes back to normal.this doesnt happen on my primary (system etc) monitor.yes i could probably workaround making my editing monitor my primary monitor, but i don't want to, because i want it free of windows bars and similar rubbish.
I use EdHarvey's colour tint tool and it changes colour of the whole image, I'm looking for something similar but it only changes selected colour, so that the image is left with mutiple colour scheme rather than just one, any addon that can do this?

From this example, you can see the figure on the right is in a brownish colour scheme, what tool can I use in order to make it's colour scheme blue like the figure on the left?
I am having issues with the color warper in Autodesk Smoke Prerelease 6. As soon as you change any values (ie changing the saturation to 99.9%) in the color warper the image glitches out and you see weird inverted colours and other artifacts. It is completely unusable.
The workstation I am currently using is a 12 Core Mac Pro 5,1, 16GB Ram, GTX285.
I do not have the issue with the latest version Smoke 2012.
Illustrator cs6 - I have used image trace to create a 3 colour image of a photograph. Is there a way to create layers based on the three colours? (One layer for each of the three colours)

View 2 Replies View Relateddo the people know if you can find matching colours in one image? as in i find a colour with certain RGB dimensions, can i find the same or 'roughly' the same colour and whereabouts the same colours are, in the same image.
the problem is im trying to paint a picture and i want to know which colours are the same so it correspsonds almost exactly when complete (its quite a fiddly picture so correct colours are essential)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just created an image for a website (The image was created using a number of layers and has a res of 180 pixels/inch).
The image in PS looks nice crisp and bright. When I save it down to either a .gif of jpg file and upload it the colours, when viewed via a web browser appear to have less luster and look pale by comparison.
I used the standard PS save settings when saving the file.
how I can improve the quality of my images?
I've scanned in an image of a drawing that I did on tracing paper with a black ink pen. When the image comes through onto my screen there are some white areas that are 'shaded' a 'dirty' brown colour. I could go through and try and erase all the shading but that would take ages and it's not very efficient.
View 8 Replies View RelatedYou can see on the attached image that there is a green wave form between the words. When i imported the pic into photoshop for my website design project the pic was this way but as a newb i think have changed a setting somewhere and now the waveform is white like the writing. Even when i import the image again the waveform it is white in photoshop but not when i open it indipendately.

How can I stop this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the colour of a selection of an image - in this case a mug. So obviously, I want the mug and the mug only to change colour (and not the area inside the handle).

I recently turned down a job (foolish I know) because I didnt have a clue how to go about doing it.
I was asked by a shoe company if I was able to photoshop a load of images of white wedding shoes and change each one into the 35 colours they offer.
Attached is the sample they sent me which I've cobbled together showing one of the colours they do (green) and one of the white shoes that would need changing.
Now while Im not a photoshop pro, I have the basic grasp of selecting objects using the quick selection tool etc.
The two burning questions for me would be:
1) once I've selected the area of the shoe that needs changing, how to change the colour. I know I could "paint" the shoe with a colour and set it to say 50% transparent so you can see see the shadow etc but how do you change it and keep all of the shading etc?
2) The reflection - this seems a near impossible task. How to select just the bits needed?!
I have been given a colour background which is mostly blues but its a cymk jpeg image and for print it needs to be converted to a spot colour in photoshop.
I dont really use channels etc and cant find a good tutorial on how to convert it to a spot? Could someone please give me a guide if thats possible?
I need to change my CMYK image so its suitable for Spot..
