View 4 Replies View RelatedI appear to have come across a bug after updating Photoshop to latest version. This has happened on two of my machines.
Basically, if I set my font size to say, 12px and then scale this bigger with transform tools making it huge in size. When I click back on it with the type tool, it still tells me the size is 12 px. Even if I then change this to say 6px, it will downsize the huge font to half of its size and not down to 6px.
Just an addition to this, I just reinstalled Photoshop, tried the above before updating and it worked as you'd expect. When scaled the type up using transform and then clicked on the type it would say it was 152.8 for example. If changed it back to 12, it changed back to 12.
Updated my Photoshop to latest update, scaled it up and clicked, said it was still 12pt. Very confusing, but has to be an issue with the update.
I'm trying to get the dimension text that I pull out to the side closer to the actual dimension marks. The 2 1/2" and 2" shown have a minimum distance they can get toward their dimensions. I would like it to be about half of what it is, but so far I haven't been able to find the property that changes that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI could edit an existing PDF made by another company, just change a few lines of text. The original file was around 3 mb. I add in a website, extension to the phone number, switch out the fax (That's it!) and save as a new version. It's now almost 30 mb. Why?? My work email won't let me send something of that size.. I tried saving as smallest file size w/ preserving editing and it came out to be 15+ mb.

View 6 Replies View Related1) when I go to the shortcut for my workspace in the menu items called "my workspace", CS2 asks me "do you want to save changes to the current shortcut file, before you reset the shortcut"
I'VE NEVER UNDERSTOOD THIS. this is the only shortcut in all of PHotoshop that ask me this question. I don't get it, and I've posted repeated about this.
I always choose no, since I don't understand why this and only this shortcut ask.
2) Why every few weeks do all the shortcuts I've assigned in the last month disappear? posted a few on this too with no resolution.
Now today got closer:
today, when I chose not to save the workspace shortcut (why I have to chose every time, still don't know), and then BAM, all my new shortcuts were discarded -- even ones that have been working consistent for last few weeks. why?
and... if I chose save, then a dialogue box comes up asking if want to replace current set of shortcuts. that's fine, but why would I be going through all that just to quickly get my workspace back in order? I don't get it.

I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."
I took a one-day course on Photoshop with NAPP and the instructor was showing us how to bring a photo closer together where the objects are closer but it doesn't distort the photo.

I want to make the girl in the middle closer to the two guys, right now it looks a bit awkward. How can I do this while keeping the integrity of the background.
I have an important question about how to set up my files for print. In school I was taught to work in CMYK or at least convert whatever RGB file I'm working on to CMYK. I'm at work now and the files I am printing are coming out dull (in CMYK). I converted a file to RGB and assigned the RGB 1998 colour space and re printed it. The first CMYK print looked grey and was not vibrant. The new RGB print printed very vibrant and matched the screen colours better than the CMYK. My boss wants me to do the rest of the prints in RGB seeing as it prints with better vibrancy. Also, I am working in Illustrator.
So my question is: Can I convert all my CMYK files to RGB, send them to the printing company and expect the prints to be vibrant? Or will converting my CMYK files to RGB mess up the printing companies standards?
RGB prints better, but I was taught to always print in CMYK mode.
Actually I'm going to leave the files in CMYK since turning them into RGB may cause colour loss during the final large prints. I will print the presentation files in RGB though.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble getting the edges of my eyes to look like they are part of the chair, which got me wondering. Is there a way to feather my edges with increased intensity closer to the edge? To be specific, I'd like to start the feather 100px inside the border with 60% opacity, all the way to the edge (border) with 0% opacity. I tried doing this manually a couple of ways and it just didn't look uniform.
I have also tried with the eyes seperated (without the middle area), but I still have the same issues.
I have very little experience in terms of making files for webpages. I have an image, that contains display text and I need to know what the best format for webpages would be? as soon as I make a jpeg, the text turns blurry.

My 14-pt font looks VERY blurry on a 528-px wide image (96 ppi), and I've tried anti-aliasing, crisp, smooth, and none. None makes it look skinny and uneven, and the rest make it look blurry even at 100%. It's slightly more blurry when turned into a JPEG on Chrome.
What should my resolution be if I'm trying to display on browsers? Does it even matter? How can I make the font look sharp?
How can I calculate the size that text in Adobe Elements 6 will display on my monitor? I have set this visually so that it is approximately 0.2" on an image height of 6.6".
My OS is Windows7 Professional and my screen resolution is 1280x1024 pixels.I have cropped the image to 7x5 and resized it to 5290x3770 pixels (w,h). I have set the resolution to 571 pixels per inch. Placing the text at 17.3 pt gave me the 0.2" height I wanted on the 'Fit Screen' zoom.
The Display Option shown in the Control Panel is 'smaller' which I understand means approximately 96 dpi. I have read that points to pixels is calculated by: Pixels = Points * System DPI/72 giving 1.33 points per pixel. Thus the 17.3 pt text should be about 13 pixels high.
Thirteen pixels is 0.34% of the 3770 pixel high display which implies a text height of about 0.02" on the 6.6" high displayed image. Instead I am seeing a text height of about 0.2" (as required).

The thing is: how do send the modifications from one file to another?
I've download Photoshop CS4 and running it in trial mode. When I use the brush tool for example, the delay in it actually printing on the paper after I click and drag is like 1-2 seconds. I have a pretty good PC, 2.4ghz @ quad.
View 3 Replies View Relatedcreating very large digital artwork. I mean images that are around 3ft by 2ft at least, maybe upwards of 48" by 30".
Many layers, lots of depth going on, in the vein of lets say - Abstract digital art. I will also be creating these images not only at large image size but very high quality for Giclee and other printing purpose.
My question is, what sort of PC requirements should I consider for the most efficiency. As much RAM as possible? I am already looking into a 30" monitor just to give me as much real estate as possible. When working at images around 10,000 x 7,000 pixels I am already working at 12% image on a large monitor.
If money wasn't much of an option what would you go for/what considerations would you bring up?
2+Gigs of RAM over Dual/Quad Core processors.
One large 30" monitor or perhaps Dual 24"?
Massive HD space for the 300mb that each image will be when saving/storing.
i am working on colour-washing an A0 sized scanned architectural elevations drawing, nothing major, but the file size has now gone massive.
it started off as a scanned PDF of 2mb, which i converted to .PSD format and began bucket-filling area's with colour. the .PSD file is now 60mb, and i have flattened the image so there is only one layer?
the problem with it being 60mb is that our plotter hasnt got enough memory to print it.
and i have only coloured half of the drawing so far!
how can i reduce the file size but still keep it in .PSD format?
I am creating a 24"X18" Sign with text and simple graphics.
I set my canvas to 24X18 and the file size is over 2gb.
Should I be doing this in smaller scale to make the file sizes smaller? What happens when I send the file to the sign shop for printing? Will they need the full 24X18, or can I make it smaller but in a format that the print shop can blow up without sacrificing quality?
ALSO, I need to be able to send an example of the sign to my client by email. How can I make a downsized version with a small enough file size to email?
I keep getting the error message "For the Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click Appearance, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller." I go into preferences and into general but there is no setting to turn off text smoothing for a specific font. I'm in osx mavericks and all it says is "use lsd font smoothing when available" and when I uncheck it, the error message in photoshop still pops up.
