Photoshop :: Blurry Text - Resolution To Display On Browsers?
Sep 21, 2013
[Photoshop CS6]
My 14-pt font looks VERY blurry on a 528-px wide image (96 ppi), and I've tried anti-aliasing, crisp, smooth, and none. None makes it look skinny and uneven, and the rest make it look blurry even at 100%. It's slightly more blurry when turned into a JPEG on Chrome.
What should my resolution be if I'm trying to display on browsers? Does it even matter? How can I make the font look sharp?

In photoshop I created a document that is 8.5x11, the size of standard printing paper, with a letter in a handwritten font. When I print my letter the print quality is not so great. I have resolution for the image set to 100. There is a little bit of a blur around the edges of the font and overall it is not very crisp.
If I take that same font when printed through microsoft word, it is very crisp, sharp and high quality.
What might be the disconnect between the two? Why is the same document much more crisp and clean when printed through word than through photoshop?

Whenever I type in Photoshop for the last few months, all the text is pixelated and blurry. The problem is impervious to anti-aliasing and resolution changes. The only difference is that with anti-aliasing the image is blurry and pixelated and without, it's just extremely pixelated. Why this problem started, I have no memory of changing a setting that would have caused this.
I've done everything I can think of, including re-setting Photoshop completely to original settings. Even files that I created before the problem began now have blurry text when opened. I esentially can't do anything with Photoshop right now and it is extremely frustrating. The following images are of the text WITH anti-aliasing and then without, both at 12 pt, 400%, 300 ppi.

I have a project in which I am designing a website in Photoshop at 72 dpi. Everytime I bring in a photo be it an AI file, or jpeg or even tif that is much, larger than the 72 dpi .psd file I am working in, the image becomes blurry as I scale it down. Why is this and what then should I be doing to get my images crisp for a final file that will be used to slice out web assets during the build.

I recently took a 3 day AutoCAD course in London and found it invaluable. I have been meaning to get AutoCAD sorted for so long so as to improve my workflow.
Was looking forward so much to putting my new knowledge to use for a site plan, but got round to it finally, and now that I have made the plan and done the layout properly, the result is a shoddy piece of rubbish, no where near suitable for client hands. Even the house floor and wall textures are gone.
I had set the page to print at 170mm x 290mm.

Photoshop is not entirely Retina ready for me. The cursors are extremely blurry as well as the gradient presets, and many certain elements are NOT optimized for the Retina display. Supposedly, this update featured over 2,500+ redesigned cursors to take advantage of the Retina display and all I see is FUZZY & BLURRY OUTLINING. I'm running 13.0.3.

I have recently purchased a Dell XPS15 laptop with a QHD+ (3200x1800) display. The PC is running Windows 8.1. I have also purchased Photoshop Elements 12 to run on it.
With the display at the native resolution, it is necessary to have the "Change the size of all items" option in the display settings of Windows 8.1 set to "Larger", in order for the native Windows fonts and UI elements to be at a reasonable size. The laptop came with this option enabled by default.
However, disappointingly the UI font size in Photoshop Elements is way too small when the display is at the native resolution. The application is basically unusable.
I have tried setting the "Use system font" option in the General preferences, but this doesn't seem to work.
The only way I can get the Photoshop Elements UI font to a reasonable size, is by dropping the screen resolution (to say 1920x1080).
This seems like a terrible waste of a beautiful screen, particularly when my main reason for using the PC is for editing photos, and my photo management and editing software is preventing me exploiting the full resolution of the display.

As you can see by the image below, my menu bar titles at the top are small and blurry, plus anywhere there is a text field box (i.e. length & width text fields in the Image Size window) it is collapsed vertically and therefore I can't see what my values are. You can also see the 3 check mark boxes at the bottom of the Image Size window are cut off. I previously had CS6 installed on a Window XP machine without any issues. Now that I have "upgraded" to Window 7, this is what I get for results after the install.

When viewing my drawing in model space it is very clear however as soon as i view it in layout and apply a scale, the additional lines writing etc become very blurry. I am scaling to A3 1:250 from model space
Are there any rule of thumbs with regards to line types, text etc to ensure they are not blurred when applying to layout?

I've been working on items in Illustrator, and noticed a HUGE change when I transfer them into Photoshop. What I am doing is creating images (and text) in Illustrator.
Then I select, Control + C to copy, then I paste into my 300dpi document in Photoshop to add textures, etc. Once they are brought in... the text is pixelated and not clear like it is in Illustrator.
Left (is the Photoshop Image) AFTER Transfer ------ Right (Original Image in Illustrator)

see this image[URL]...When I view this image in any browser the colors look great. But in any other program (Windows Photo Viewer, Picasa, & Photoshop) the colors are way way way off, and the picture displays very differently from program to program.
In Photoshop the only thing that is wrong is the black channel which looks grey. Photoshop also gives an invalid ICC notification when opening this image. Is there anything I can do about it?

When I went to convert my finished CAD drawing into a PDF the text came out blurry, information was missing, and the lines were also blurry and still colored, even though the plot style was set to greyscale. I tried opening the file up on another computer and it still did the same thing. I ended up copying the drawing into a whole new document and messing around with it to get it to finally print to PDF properly, however, I would like to know why this happened and how it can be fixed if it happens again. I have attached an image of the PDF that printed out poorly, and the final proper PDF so you can see what it was supposed to come out as.

I am using Photoshop 7.0
I am trying to create two simple rounded corner gif banners for a web page, but can't seem to get the corners "un-jagged". I am by no means an experienced PS user but here is how I go about it:
I create a new image 830X40 pixels to fit my web page, fill it with a gradient fill to match the web page colors and then create another image at 50X50 pixels with 72 ppi resolution. On the latter image I draw an circle on the canvas with the elliptical marquee tool with anti-aliasing checked off and feathering set to 0 and fill it with the foreground color, then I draw a square on 1/4 of the circle with the rectangle marquee tool, copy that and paste it into the 830X40 image as a new layer and move it to its corresponding end. Then I erase just enough of the first layer to get my rounded corner. The process is repeated for the other end switching to background color to match the other end. I then choose "save for web" with all layers visible, and save it as a gif file called "topbanner.gif" with the transparency button checked and no transparancy dither. I then flip the whole canvas and save it again as "bottombanner.gif" with the same settings.
The problem is it looks ok in PS, but when I view the page there is still somewhat jagged edges. (My monitor is set at 1280X960 32 bit color) I have played with the dithering options when saving as a gif, but to no avail. I have also used higher resolutions (eg. 100 ppi) for the circle image but that doesnt seem to help either.
Should I be using image ready to do this? (which I know even less about)

NOTE: This is in AutoCAD 2002.
I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."

I am using a script to export multiple layers of 16x16 pixel icon files into separate PNG files. It works very well with one big exception. All layers that contain text becomes very blurry.I have tried converting the text into outline paths before exporting, but it does not work. The text becomes blurry and thick.
When performing a regular Non Script export to a PNG file you are allowed to chose antialiasing method between "type" and "art". When using the "type" alternative everything looks good, but when the "art" alternative is selected the text look very blurry and bad. When using script multiexporters it seems they all use the art version. URL....
But I have tried a bunch of other scripts as well but with the same blurry result for the text. How to get the option to chose the type optimized initializing for the script exports?
