I use a couple of systems for CS and LR only. They are running Windows Vista (Home Edition). I wanted to sign up for creative cloud, but the service tells me that Windows 7 (or 8) is supported, not Vista. If I upgrade my PC to Windows 7, will the current versions of CS6 and LR 4.4 still work? Or, do I have to buy a new version.

My laptops currently configured in such a way that i can install 7 as an "upgrade" rather then a complete new install, keeping my programs and files intact. However, I remember in the past from when I first installed vista, if i tried to launch photoshop from a different partition(eg, photoshop is installed on the XP partition but i'm using vista), it would fail with an error saying something to the effect that licensing had stopped working. Will this happen if i "upgrade", or should I just install 7 on a different partition to be safe?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI made the upgrade to Windows 8 and now several PS plugins causes Photoshop CS6 to "Stop Working And need to close". I have uninstalled and reinstalled plugins and still the same problem. As this happens with different plugins from different vendors I am led to believe this is not a 3rd party problem, but rather a problem with PS in win8. Happens with plugins from Niksoft and RedGiant. Needless to say I have all the latest software and updates - legally purchased.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 3 year old Dell XPS 16 which came with a AMD (ATI) Radeon HD 5730 (1GB) graphics card to Windows 8 (along with a new SSD hard drive), and reinstalled CS6, and now I get messages that the program is no longer detecting my dedicated graphics card. I updated the drivers from both Dell and AMD, and I get the same result.The Graphics Processor Seting box is greyed out in Preferences, and it says it detected an error in my display driver. Everything was fine with the same graphics card under Windows 7.

I suspect that when Windows 8 was installed it installed a generic AMD driver, and even though I have updated it from Dell and AMD several times, something is not quite right because I can't find the AMD Catalyst Control Center. So it might be a WIndows 8 & AMD issue, but I don't really know for sure.

Everything worked just fine before the update. Problems started right after upgrading.
After Upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8 photos are not displayed in Photoshop CS6. When I open a photo in the bridge, it is displayed properly in Camera Raw and can be developed there.
After opening the photo in Photoshop 6 then, everything looks good, but the photo is not visible. I can save it and even export it (to jpeg for example), but it is not visible.
I am considering the purchase of a new computer. I have Photoshop CS2, and I am debating whether to get Windows Vista or Windows XP Pro. I have read in the database about Vista and CS2, "Installs and runs with minimal known issues." But it also states under Support for Windows Vista, "not officially." I have just loaded Photoshop CS2 onto my new laptop which has Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit as its OS. All working well except I notice that,when I made adjustments to a layer (for example,using curves to colour adjust,or even just brighten midtones),it takes a long time for any change to take place to the values of colour sample points which I may have applied to the background layer. I usually place four colour sample points on my background image to monitor changes as I make adjustments. When I used Photoshop CS2 on my previous laptop which had Windows XP as its OS,changes were instant. I have the cache level set at 6 in Preferences with 70% available RAM set.

When I look in the file folder on my computer, PSD files do not have an image preview.
I checked in the preferences under "file handling" and "always save" is selected for "image previews."
I just received my Apple Cinema Display and I connected to a PC with Windows Vista.
The Apple Display does not have an OSD menu only a briteness (+)&(-) button on the side. If I wanted to calibrate my display with i1 Display 2 I can only use it in (Easy Mode). The reason being Easy Mode doesn't have the options for white point, gamma, luminance, contrast, rgb controls or briteness.

I have CS6 installed on Windows Vista 64x bit. Everything is fine except for some inaccurate metadata. Camera raw v 6.7 is displayed instead of the latest installed ver 7.1. Also lens serial numbers are not shown or are missing. In lens specification f/0 shows up which of course is wrong.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two PC's running Windows Vista that I work with and both have photoshop CS3 installed, but for what ever reason on one of the PC's the Windows Photo Gallery application displays really desaturated colors when views jpg's and the like (the other PC's displays them fine).
I've googled and haven't yet found out a quality solution, lots of info on simply combining and replacing drivers and the like and nothing really set in stone from Adobe, or Microsoft etc
I saved a photo book and while I was working on it it got closed by accident. Now I cannot open it back up into the photobook program I was working on it in. I can find the "photobook" in my saved files and when I open it, it separates each page as a file so I have to open each page separately and work on them instead of having the whole book to look at and then I can flip through the pages of the photobook and decide which page to put my photo on. I have typed this into all the help systems but nothing comes up.

When we were using X4 on Vista I had no problems with the graphic distorting. Since we moved our system over to Windows 7 we have had major problems, Â sometimes when we get art work the logo's will gradually distort to the point they are unrecongizable.
Even if we try and replace the logo with a new copy the same thing will happen. I have a legit copy of X4.
Most people are telling us its because the logo's we receive are corrupted but that doesnt seem to be the factor.
I've been using Photoshop Elements 5.0 for a few years now on my PC running Vista. Beginning just a few days ago (and unconnected to any updates of which I am aware), I started getting an error when I tried to delete or import files in the Organizer. The error says: ODBC data source [Microsoft] [ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot open database "I". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. The photos are there - I can see them in Windows Photo Gallery. I can delete photos from there as well. Just not in Organizer. Wondered if anyone might be able to point me in a good direction for a fix?
