Photoshop :: 8gb Ram Worth It For 32bit Vista?

Sep 14, 2008

I have huge files that are painfully slow to work with -ie 15,000 by 10,000 pixels, 1 - 1.5GB in size. I have the 32bit version of Vista, 4gb ram.

If I upgraded to 8gb ram, would it really be worth it? I know the faq says that PS can somehow utilize this extra ram, but would PS be "as snappy" as when it has enough ram in the first place? If actions that take 15 minutes with these files would only take as long as the ones with my 600MB files, then I would do probably it. Do u think this would this be a major performance upgrade or just a tiny one?

Photoshop :: Cannot Install CS6 32bit On 64bit PC

Mar 5, 2013

I am trying to install Photoshop CS6 on my Windows 8 64-bit PC. While in the loader option I chose both 64 and 32 bit installations, I only get 64-bit to install and work properly, and the Program Files (x86) protoshop cs6 folder stays empty.

I tried to reinstall 32-bit alone, uninstall and full reinstall, I also checked for security permissions in Program files (x86)/Adobe and in Common files which seem OK, Administrators, Creator Owner and System have the desired Full control permissions and finally I apllied the latest adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool fix on all products and tried reinstall, to no avail.

The error I always get upon finishing installation is the below:

I have Windows 7 64bit system. Is there a reason to install BOTH?  Is there a problem to have both installed?

Photoshop :: Wacom Cintiq 24HD / CS6 64bit (Windows 7 64bit) Brush Pressure Sensitivity Often Fails

Jul 11, 2012

In Photoshop CS6 (64bit), when using the brush tool (with a brush with pressure sensitivity activated), I quite often get a line drawn at the max width selected, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. Everything goes back to normal after I start drawing another line, and happens again after a few lines. It's quite random.

I don't have this problem in any other software (Illustrator CS6 64bit, Painter XII, Sketchbook Pro, Zbrush, ...). I have already checked and I've found some other users on other forums with the same problem.

One example, with a picture of the problem: [URL] Another one, exact same problem: [URL] Some of those users seem to have solved their problem by installing an old driver (6.1.5r3), but they had that problem with Intuos TABLETS in the first place, not a Cintiq 24HD... I have tried that, but unfortunately the driver is not compatible with the Cintiq 24HD.

To test this out: I've been able to reproduce the problem 90% of the times I've tried. if I keep the pen at 1 inch from the display so that it's still recognized by the screen but it's not drawing, then wiggle it a bit, and then I slowly move to the screen and tap it (as if I was starting a line with very low pressure), the problem appears and it makes a large dot, as if there was no pressure sensitivity. As I said the test doesn't work every time, but almost.

This is an image of what happens when I try and make dots in Photoshop. These are done trying to push the pen with the same (low) pressure. The big ones are from when the issue appears: [URL]

I have tried the pressure test in the Wacom utility software and it seems to work fine, it never jump to full even when I try the method I've just described. In the diagnostic page of the Wacom utility software the pressure is always correct, even when in Photoshop there's the brush sensitivity issue.

note: I've already tried to completely re-install my computer + the Adobe software + the lastest wacom driver for my Cintiq 24HD, and the problem is still the same.

Photoshop :: CS5 / Uninstall Only 32bit Without Affecting 64bit Version?

Jun 19, 2012

I have installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of CS5 in my Win7 system. Did that because some plugins does not run on 64-bit.Now I wanted to trial CS6 and so do not wish to have too many versions on my pc.

I want to uninstall ONLY the 32-bit CS5. When I go to either my Uninstaller software or the "Program & Features" of Control Panel, I could only see one icon/program for PS- not 2 (one for 32-bit & 64-bit respectively).

How do I uninstall only the 32bit without affecting the 64bit version?

3ds Max :: How To Install 32bit On 64bit OS

Mar 16, 2012

I have 2009 and downloaded the 2012 trial (selecting 32bit as my OS). I'm trying to use a plugin and 2009 is too old, so if it works in 2012 I'll just upgrade. However during install it never gives me an option to install the 32bit/64bit version of 2012. It just auto-detects the OS and installs the 64bit.

how to get it to install the 32bit version? I tried the plugin with the 64bit and it doesn't work. I'm not sure if it's because 2012 is too new or if 64bit doesn't work for the plugin. The plugin is the Flare3D Max plugin if it matters.

Photoshop :: Vista 64bit And PS CS4

Apr 18, 2009

CS4 and my 64bit system.  I mostly work with files in the 1-2MB range, not large by any means. I will process 2 or 3 photos, and close them.. no problem.  But every 3rd or 4th photo, when I open the file, or try to resize/crop it,  I get the dreaded "not responding" message and end up waiting 30 seconds to a minutes for PS to come back alive.  Obviously this is extremely disruptive to my workflow. I have gone so far as to wipe my system clean, but still experience the same problem.  It is a fairly consistent issue that always happens when I process multiple photos.  Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Is there some obvious solution I am missing? My specs are as follows.. Intel iCore 7 2.66 Mhz9GB DDR3ATI Radeon 4850 512MB Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bitPS CS4 Extended (with 11.1 update)

I understand others have had OpenGL issues -

I have disabled OpenGL and updated both my video card driver and Adobe automatic updates.

3ds Max :: File Opens Fine In 32bit Repeated Crash In 64bit?

Aug 15, 2011

I've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.

I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Converting 32bit 2009 Drawing To 64bit 2011?

May 24, 2012

Since I'm so darn clever I decided I could "save as" a 2009C3d-32bit drawing to 2011C3D-64bit. This drawing was working just peachy for a while. There are no data links. The drawing contained 2009 surface and point groups. I imported some Pipe styles created in 2011. Created 800' of profile,and my pipe network. When I was closing the drawing I got a lot of errors wanting to know if I wanted to save changes to VBA-pipes. Seemed like a good idea at the time so I said Yes. This morning I opened the drawing and it's there but the surface from 2009 no longer has it's Definition data. The point group is gone, breaklines are gone. I needed to remove one lousy bad point out of my surface. The points in the drawing now have three copies and one has the elevation in the point description and you can't fix it. The 3 labels are all tied together and if you erase one they all disappear. I am going to wing it from here and get this puppy out of the office with a little old fashioned autocad. This is my question. Should I have just started a new drawing in 2011, clipped all my old line work and text from the 2009, imported the points and rebuilt my surface? Did I do something wrong and there was some way I should have been able to make this work? I was running 2009 and 2011 on my computer but had to remove 2009 last week. It no longer like livng with his better looking brother "2011" and I had to put him out. I have numerous small projects created in 2009 so this will happen again.

Photoshop :: Ram Allocation For Photoshop CS4(32Bit) In Vista 64

Feb 7, 2009

I have 8 Gigs of Ram Installed running on Vista 64. In CS4 64 bit, it sees all of the RAM of course and runs very smooth and snappy, even with large files(I left it at default RAM allocation just over 4 gigs).

However, most of my plugins are not 64bit compatible so I am also running the 32 bit version for those plugins. Since photoshop 32 bit version only sees about 3255MB Ram, can I set the RAM allocation at 100%?

Will Vista 64 use the balance that photoshop does not see since it sees the remaining 4+ gigs? I do have a second seperate drive for a scratch disk but I woujld rather not have to resort to a scratch disk with 8 Gigs of Ram installed, kind of defeats the purpose. Any input would be appreciated, I cannot find any literature on this topic at the photoshop website.
