Nov 25, 2013I have used illustrator for years and all of a sudden when I justify text and add a soft return to knock a 'widow' or single work round the text no longer justfies! WHY? and can I turn this dumb feature off...?

Jan 3, 2012I have all of my photos on an external hard drive named "Computer Backup." A new problem has developed. When I import photos, I very carefully select the folder into which I want to import. On the left side of the screen where it shows all of my folders, organized so nicely into "Computer Backup," a second "Computer Backup" shows up and that's where the photos get imported into. It's identical, shows the same space available/used.
So then I have to drag those files into the file where I acutally want them and that shows 0 pictures. When I do that, it says that they files already exist there.What happened!?
Lightroom :: Why Won't Edited RAW Images Show After Re-install Onto New Hard Drive
Apr 3, 2012Recently my hard drive took a (hike) and crashed - data may or may not be recoverable (Geeks are working on that), and I needed to reinstall my CS5 and Lightroom software to a new hard drive (I had to buy a new one). All of my RAW photos are stored on an external drive and were not harmed. Here is my dilemma. Most of the presets I used also went crashing with that hard drive, (yes I believe they were backed up but also on that hard drive...stupid I know-trust me I know!!) but most of them were the free ones from the adobe recommended users on this site. I actually found many of my favorites still posted on the Adobe site and re-downloaded and installed the presets I'd been using the past year and a half, and imade sure those presets were housed properly in their folder via Preferences in Lightroom. Great. I can continue on with my work. WRONG! When I went to go import a recent shoot that I had already edited, it imported the RAW files but none of the previous edits I had worked on for these photos were showing up...it was as if I didn't even touch them and they came right from my camera. What in the world is going on? I'm baffled...and freaking out as I have thousands upon thousands of edited shoots in RAW, and I fear that none of the edits and enhancements made to those photos are going to be present and I'll have to start over. that all of my last 2 years of editing photos are still with the RAW files?!!!
I found a deal on a an HP Intell Core i7 processor) 2 TB hard drive tower, so I ended up needing to install the 64 bit versions of CS5 and Lightroom 3.6. I did test out the RAW (.NEF) file in Photoshop CS5 and my edited RAW image came up "correctly" - so I know that the information is still with the RAW image...I just need it to work and show in lightroom, as it is easier to export the files to the sizes I need them to be.
Lightroom :: Photos Show Up In Grid But Not Importing From Hard Drive Folder?
Mar 2, 2014Importing photos from a hard drive folder. The photos show up in the grid, but then when I try to final import to LightRoom the program states that the following were not imported, and lists all the photo id's -- but does not say why not. Why the import would fail at that step?

Apr 19, 2008On my Vista machine, everytime I restart PS it reverts to the PS default workspace. I have a personal 'default' which will return it to my configuration, but it's annoying to have to switch it every time I restart.
how to make it retain the last workspace used.
It does not do this in XP.
Lightroom :: Photoshop No Longer Returns Edited Files
Dec 21, 2013After sending files to Photoshop for further editing, use simple "save" command to return them to Lightroom. That used to work but now only JPEG files do round trip, not raw files (DNGs) although round tripping to Elements works fine. Photoshop is saving them to my catalogue instead.
Adobe agent spent more than an hour tinkering with my computer before giving up. Tried to blame use of DNG but this is an Adobe invention. Also said to use synchronise folder command as a work round but this restores deleted files as well. He promised to "escalate the problem" and I would be called back, but that was a week ago.
Photoshop :: Menu Text In CS6 Turns Black On Highlight Rendering Them Hard To See
May 29, 2012Before in CS5 when you click an option, the text would turn white, now they stay black making them hard to see. It seems to be desktop appearance specific so if I change my desktop theme the background color would change making the black text easier to see (text stays black). This seems like a bug, because the highlited text color should turn to white not stay black. Which was how it was in CS5.

Sep 26, 2012I've got some Text Layers in my CS6 document.
In CS5, if I had Text Layers and changed the text on the layer (by double-clicking the "T" icon of the specific Layer in the Layers palette), the name of the Layer would change to reflect the new text I entered.
For some reason this behavior is gone in CS6. So, for example:
• I have a Text Layer with the word "Email" on my canvas. The Text Layer name also reads "Email".
• I double-click the "T" icon of the Email Layer to edit the text on canvas.
• I enter new text, "Contact". The text on canvas updates to "Contact", but the Layer Name remains "Email".
So, for accurate Layer names, I find myself having to change the text twice: once on the canvas, and then manually updating the Layer name as well. Is there an option or preference somewhere that I'm missing that would re-enable the behavior from CS5?
Photoshop Elements :: Why Won't Text Show Up On Picture When Using Text Tool
Oct 22, 2012Using the horizontal text tool I can make a text box, but no text-blinker shows up in the box and when I type no text will appear. Although, in the Layers pannel on the right side it does name the layer whatever I have typed so why won't it show on the picture? Even if you make all other layers invisible the text layer still does not show up on a blank background.

Oct 25, 2010I made a DVD with a thumbnail menu. It has four pages with four thumbnails each. When navigating around it always defaults to the first page. Say I'm watching a chapter from the second page and I return to the menu, it sends me back to page one not page two. Is there a way to set it up to return you to your last location? I've made other DVDs that did this so I'm confused as to why this one isn't the same. Do I need to use one of the preset menus instead of a custom one?

May 16, 2012I would like to know how, if possible to make the attributes of a block show up as text. Example:
I am working on a power utility design where each power pole has a sequential name and may or may not have units that need to be added into a contract. I have my attributes set up where I can go in and assign a required number to a unit so I can export my data into excel. The problem I am having is that I have to enter the text and change the attribute quantities separately. Also, there are 40 or so different units and only a few certain ones required at each pole. Is there a way to set the attribute only to display text if the quantity is greater than zero so my list is not 40 units long at each pole?
(I am using Autocad 2013, 64 bit)
AutoCAD Inventor :: Exporting PDF - HasSaveCopyAsOptions Returns False
Nov 21, 2012I have a VB.NET routine that exports a pdf using the TranslatorAddIn interface. I copied the example from the api help.
The pdf is created, but only the first sheet of the drawing is exported. I uncommented the following line in the example code, and still no change:
oOptions.Value("Sheet_Range") = kPrintAllSheets
I added a message box, to make sure I was reaching that line, and I found that I was not in fact reaching that line. Why is this? In some posts here related to dwf exporting also using the TranslatorAddIn, the first argument of HasSaveCopyAsOptions was oDataMedium instead of oDocument, so I tried that, too, but still no change.
Here is the code of the export to PDF routine from the api example:

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Querying Object Data Returns All Objects
Mar 5, 2012I have a drawing with a bunch of polylines with object data attached. The polylines represent roads, and among the object data is a road number. A typical road number might be "2000" and a road without a number assigned yet would be "0"
I am trying to run a query that pull out just the objects where the road number field is 0. If I try to query based on object data where the field = 0, I get returned all of the polylines whether the field is 0 or not. If I query with "2000", I get returned just the single road with that number as expected.
I've tried several different ways to make this work and I'm not sure what is wrong. I have tried with the number as integers, and doing field = 0, field <= 0, field < 1 and that didn't work, so then I converted it over to a character field and have tried field = 0 and field = "0" - nothing seems to work. Is there something with the field being zero that is causing issues and is there a way to make this work?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Dynamic Block With Text Inserted Into Drawing Show Text Orientation Matched To Layout
Apr 17, 2013Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.

Lightroom :: Initial Import Histogram Calculating Returns Bad Tones?
May 5, 2013Frequently when I import raw Nikon files to lightroom 4 I initially see a picture with tone and white balance I really like. during this time (2 to 10 seconds) the histogram indicates that it is calculating. When the histogram is finished calculating the picture changes with bad tone (exposure, contrast ...). You can go and manually change the tone settings but it can take sometime and I would rather be able to quickly return to the picture settings that was initially presented. Is there a short cut or easier way?

Jul 31, 2012In the Library and Develop modules, when I click on an image to magnify it to 1:1, the image expands to 1:1 and then immediately returns back to fit/fill (depending on what the setting was before). Clicking on 1:1 magnification in the Navigator works fine as well as using the CMD + shortcut; the image expands to 1:1 and stays at 1:1 magnification. I am running LR 4.1 on Mountain Lion on a MBP. I tested in other programs and had no problems.

For example: When I select a date i.e. 25/05/2011, I have images being shown for that date but also others with a capture date of 06/02/2012. How can this issue be corrected? I have over 60,000 images to review.

Oct 18, 2012I have smart collections simply gathering together all images with a specific star rating, very very simple! I have one for 1 star, one for 2 star and one for 3 star and above. So far so good, have been using these for ages - but - I have just noticed if I go to Catalog/All Photographs and place an identical Library Filter (that is the filter at the top of the library grid view) I get different results. In fact if I place an attribute filter that says "= 2 star" images only I can look at the strip that runs across the bottom of the screen and it says "All Photographs / 1056 of 1647 photos". If I then clear that filter and scroll down to my smart collection that applies the very same filter to the entire catalog (and I have triple checked this, no difference at all, I haven't said less than or greater to in here its the self same "=" only!) and it says "1066"! So the smart collection finds 10 more images than the other, identical filters working on the entire catalog If it wasn't for the number of images involved I would go though them and try and find the extra files by hand!

Dec 14, 2011I need to export my IDW drawings to DXF.
As long there are lot of files I wish the Task Scheduler will do that job.
It actually does but only with "File" option. I mean I cannot take a whole Folder
since there is no DXF option and should click each file and set the DXF there.
The second big problem it returns zipped DXF files, I cannot get rid of that.

Mar 18, 2012I just purchased CS5.5 and in photoshop the text doesn't appear after I create a transparent banner and try to use the type tool. I tried reseting the tool and resetting the preferences as advised online. The tool worked fine last week.

this gives me the path of the acad.lsp, that is provided it actually exists, however because the acad.lsp is not compulsory it may indeed not exist meaning that the command prompt would return the NIL value instead of the pathname.
based upon that I would like to create a new acad.lsp file if not found by autocad.
