I just purchased CS5.5 and in photoshop the text doesn't appear after I create a transparent banner and try to use the type tool. I tried reseting the tool and resetting the preferences as advised online. The tool worked fine last week.
View 4 RepliesI've got some Text Layers in my CS6 document.
In CS5, if I had Text Layers and changed the text on the layer (by double-clicking the "T" icon of the specific Layer in the Layers palette), the name of the Layer would change to reflect the new text I entered.
For some reason this behavior is gone in CS6. So, for example:
• I have a Text Layer with the word "Email" on my canvas. The Text Layer name also reads "Email".
• I double-click the "T" icon of the Email Layer to edit the text on canvas.
• I enter new text, "Contact". The text on canvas updates to "Contact", but the Layer Name remains "Email".
So, for accurate Layer names, I find myself having to change the text twice: once on the canvas, and then manually updating the Layer name as well. Is there an option or preference somewhere that I'm missing that would re-enable the behavior from CS5?
Using the horizontal text tool I can make a text box, but no text-blinker shows up in the box and when I type no text will appear. Although, in the Layers pannel on the right side it does name the layer whatever I have typed so why won't it show on the picture? Even if you make all other layers invisible the text layer still does not show up on a blank background.

I am working on a power utility design where each power pole has a sequential name and may or may not have units that need to be added into a contract. I have my attributes set up where I can go in and assign a required number to a unit so I can export my data into excel. The problem I am having is that I have to enter the text and change the attribute quantities separately. Also, there are 40 or so different units and only a few certain ones required at each pole. Is there a way to set the attribute only to display text if the quantity is greater than zero so my list is not 40 units long at each pole?
(I am using Autocad 2013, 64 bit)
Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
i am having a problem with my photoshop cs2. this just started earlier today. i can create a text box, but when i go to type, nothing happens - it won't let me type anything. i have tried resetting the tools, clearing preferences and uninstalling, and reinstalling.

I see the text cursor, but when I try to select text it disappears and I cannot see how much of a sentence or word is selected. I can delete the selection or write something else in its place, but I am working "blind" without seeing how much of text I selected until I change it or delete it. I see nothing unusual in Preferences. It is the only Illustrator file that behave that way.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

I tried putting the text on a line and pulling to vertical that didn't work. I tried a vertical line hoping that it would follow that (It didn't).
A while back I thought I saw a tutorial on how to reflect, mirror, text, but can't seem to find it now. I just want to show a reflection of a text phrase, the reflected text would have a gradient, to give the reflection a subtle effect. Once the text text is rotated I don't know how to "skew it' at the desired angle.

No change, I still see a red dotted line around the text frames. How do you turn these off? If I can't do that, can I at least change the colour?

If I go to wire frame view I can see that the text is there, it's as though the text is just white, but I can't change the color to anything else. I can change the font, but I have to do it blindly because most of my font list disappears.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am working with a 3D model, we are using a addon for ACAD which allows us to clip the view port (ie: allows us to look at everything on the drawing but only between certain elevations { for example I could clip my drawing to only view between elevation (Z) 1000 - 1020 })
My question is: Is there any way to have text/Polylines show up even if they are not within the clipping range, specifically we would like to have a grid set up say at 0 elevation, and have it the same grid when we clip through our levels without having to manually copy it to each level we plan on clipping.
my viewport is set for 2d wireframe, even when i have certain layers turned off or frozen the viewable lines in the layyers that are 'on' are broken as if i was in 2D hidden. text wont show up if over a "box" entity, no matter what elevation i set it at. The results come out upon printing as well.
There must be a display setting i am unaware of to fix this. Why do certain entities override others even if the later is at an elevation above it? Someone referred to draw order before but I still do not understand how to make that work.

I have a drawings that will open in Trueview 2012 on Win7 and AutoCAD 2000 on XP that will show up correctly. But with AutoCad 2012 on Win7 it will not show the Japanese. See attached

I have tried setting the Primary color to white and the Secondary color to brown, vice versa, and also setting both Primary and Secondary to white. No matter what I do, my letters don't show up, presumably because they are brown.
How do I get white text to actually show up on a brown background?
Is there a setting controlling typed text visibility in the command line when using a leader? In 2004, text would show in the command line as it was typed. Now, to see what I am typing, I have to enter the leader dialogue box.

If this is not possible, is there a way to have text on a xref that is locally editable?
Is there a variable to force dimension text line to show? I am using annotative dimensions and the placement for the text is forced to the outside of the dimension if it doesn't fit. I get annoyed on having to move the text to show the dimline above the dimension.
