My boss is using CorelDraw x5 on a Dell Studio lappy w/ win7 x64, his question is... If you accidentally stretch text and don't realize it till later is it given a value that can be compared to other text so you can conform it to the rest of the text? Is this a tool or what? The scenario is you accidentally stretch text minutely, save the file, copy and paste this text to another file with same format to realize later it has been manipulated and doesn't match.

I see various warping options such as arc, bulge, fisheye, etc. but I want to simply make it taller and skinnier. I thought there might be a way to turn the text into pixels so that it can be distorted, but I do not see this in Elements.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a complex object (a plot with a bunch of text labels, etc.), and I want to stretch it horizontally or vertically without distorting text. I have an option to scale or not to scale strokes,. However, whatever I select here, the text always ends up distorted.
Is there a way to stretch it so that the text retains it's original shape?
Attached is a block that I use a lot. Originally I had two separate single line text attributes for the "title". I modified it to have a single multiline text attribute instead. I want this attributes text box width to stretch along with the line below it, so that long text strings will automatically adjust to single or multiple lines as necessary and not run off the end of the line. As it stands now I have to stretch the line and then adjust the width of the text box to match.
Also it would be nice if the bulk of the text would stay on the bottom line and only the "overflow" would move up to the next line.
Is there a way to stretch the width of text, once it is in an envelope or on a path? You can adjust the kerning(spacing), but I don't see anywhere that you can adjust the width of the letters.
An example: I have the word MAVERICKS on an arched path in a design. I want to change that design for the RAMS, so where it says MAVERICKS it will now say RAMS. The problem is RAMS is a much shorter word and I need it to stretch to the same width as the previously used MAVERICKS.
I am in AutoCAD LT 2008. Within the last few months I have noticed that some of my text is changing from a regular font style to bold when being copied/pasted, moving, and/or stretching. This is also happening with the text in my dimension style. When I check properties, nothing has changed from one text's set of properties to the other. I have not changed any settings that I am aware of since this started happening. In some cases if I paste with a base point, then paste I can avoid this, but not in all cases. I have also opened the text boxes to verify that the bold button did not get activated. This is a very annoying problem and if I don't catch all the text that has been affected it makes drawings look inconsistent.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to wrap an image around a curved object. This is a front elevation of a sign I am attempting to render and the sign wraps around a pole. What I am attempting to do is not just "squeeze" the copy but actually attempt to show what the image will look like if you are looking directly at it which means that the closest portion of the image will look normal but as you look further out towards the edges then the graphic and copy would appear to merge and disappear backwards. I hope I am explaining this well. I am trying to wrap my brain around this concept. I know you can do this in photoshop with stretching but cannot fathom how I can attempt this in CorelDraw or Illustrator.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor many years, I've been able to stretch bitmaps with a simple, repeating style (eg. a single block of colour, some lines etc, nothing complex) whenever needed, with no problem. This I do by first selecting the part of the simple bitmap I wish to stretch with the marquee, then using scale (apple + t) to stretch it either horizontally and vertically. End result, the bitmap is extended, looks solid, sharp, all is good.
Lately, and consistently, i've discovered a fresh hell in that this no longer works. When I repeat the process above, all looks good, marquee, stretch... then the second I commit the transform, part of the bitmap beginning where I stretched from gains a feathered/opacity effect. For years, solid, now it's gaining a feathered section highlighting where I made the transform.
Something must have changed (it's not the version of PS) in my settings, which i've hit or shortcut-ed by accident.
The only way I can "fix" the process is by ensuring I only marquee the last 1 pixel strip (either horizontally or vertically) and stretching just that. This works fine, like it used to, but is time consuming and driving me insane. I cannot fathom why it's creating this weird feathered effect when I'm stretching a solid bitmap, when I know it didn't used to.
I'm trying to make a (for lack of a better term) squarish ellipse.
I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points.
The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do.
I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants.
I am writing a code to select an object (crossing) and to stretch it a certain distance on the y axis. This is the code that I have to select the object, but I cannot find what to use to stretch it. I actually found something to scale it, but it is not what I need. With ThisDrawing.Utility
Dim SP1sel1(0 To 2) As Double
Dim SP1sel2(0 To 2) As Double
Dim objSS As AcadSelectionSe
Set objSS = ThisDrawing.SelectionSets.Add("zzadsaaafatt")
' Select the object

I have a 4' light fixture that is a rectangle. Right now I have it set up to where I can stretch it and it copies it’s self whatever length that I stretch it in increments of 4'.
Is there a way for me to modify this so that when I stretch it along an arc, that it copies its self and rotates its self along the edge of the arc?
I am trying to make a block that I can stretch. The end pieces (gusset block) never change size. The only piece that needs to stretch is bar that connects them. The gussets are always on a 45 degrees. If I stretch it over 5 inches on the X axis, it should move -5 on the Y axis.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSuppose I have a rectangle 10 x 8 and then I join the middle points of the widths with a line ... so I will end up with 2 boxes of 5 x 8. Now what I need to do is to stretch the side by 2 units to become 12 by 8 but I want the middle line to move automatically during the stretching process so I end up with two boxes of 6 x 8.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy the image stretches when I'm trying to place it on a page of a 3D book I created in Illustrator? I do realize the geometric lines vary depending on the shape of the page I'm placing the image on, but how can I avoid the stretch? Is there a way to move the lines, or? I read somewhere that if you rasterize the image, it shouldn't stretch. However, it still does (or I just don't know how to rasterize properly)

I am working on a logo which has the word "E-Commerce" in it. I am using a font that works quite well for it but the dash is way too long, it's in fact longer than an m dash and the font doesn't have anything else.
Short of modifying the font file or turning it into outlines, is there a way I can just make that one character shorter? I seem to remember that in earlier versions of Illustrator you could set the font width but all I can see in the character pane in CS6 is kerning and tracking. I don't want to use the transform tool because it would stretch all the text inside the box.
What is the best way to crop a pip video. FOr example if you have some squares and want to fill the squares with pip videos but not in a normal shrinking/distorting video way. What's the best practice, a mask or FX ?
Ideally it would be best to have some kind of shortcut for example that when changing size and pressing Alt key it would act like a mask (a bit like Power Clip in Corel Draw )
know of a variable which controls how stretching with grips works. I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it. For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches. On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

The dynamic input is off.
I use to be able to stretch a line by using the end grip and typing 50 , this would extend the line by 50 units
The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total
is there a system variable that controls this ?
I Have a drawing that I want to get laser cut, its not a functional piece it is just going to be something that is hung on the wall.
I first drew the piece in 3D inventor then converted it to a DWG so that i can edit it in Autocad (ive been told by the laser cutter that they can process DWG drawings).
No two lines on the drawing can intersect however as i dont want the laser to remove large chunks from the peice. The problem im having is that i have to go through manually and select each line, then select the end point and then shrink it by a certain value. Since the drawing is quite a large drawing its becoming very time consuming
I cant switch the line types however because no matter what the line type when convereted to NC code the computer sees it as a solid line
ive attached a screen shot to try and explain what i mean
the one on the right is one a section that i have finished modifying and the one on the left is one that i have yet to change
We are currently STILL in the transition from LDD to Civil 3D 2013. Is there an easy way to stretch the contours within a surface without physically editing the surface. Right Now, I have a couple contours that have have spikes in them from lack of survey data. The Problem is that if I don't change the contours, I have to show steep slopes between them which I would rather not do.
Do I have to keep editing the surface to try and resolve this problem or is there a way I can just stretch the contours?
Right now I resolved the problem by coping the surface, exploding it and putting the contours on a different layer so that I can stretch them as I see fit But this is not a time effective solution.
I've made a simple dynamic block, a rectangle with a hatch and added a linear stretch to it. The stretch works fine on the rectangle itself, but the hatch only gets moved.
I've attached an image and a drawing containing the block.
I use autocad 2011 LT and I have some problem with polar stretching!I have to get from A(see picture) to B but C is always happening! I want to put in an angle in te propertieswindow so that I become B. the angle is variable but the middle stays the same length!
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make a dynamic block where I will insert the total length of this “ panel”. Say 3720mm, and that it will divide the “panel” into equal segments with a maximum segment width of 1240mm. ( so with 3720mm that would make 3x 1240mm segments)
Say it would be a “panel” of 5500mm it would be 5 segments of 1100mm, and a “panel” of lets say 3750mm would make 4 segments of 937,5mm.
I made a drawing to illustrate what I mean, A dynamic block for this will save a lot of time!

I'm working with a typeface that I need to stretch horizontally while following a circular shape. I don't want to distort it other than the horizontal stretching.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased LT 2012. I was using LT 2008 until now. When I grab a line from the endpoint grip and try to lengthen it by typing in a value it either shortens the length by the value I type, changes the overall length to the value I type, or does what I want it to- actually makes the line longer by the value I type but doesn't do any of these consistently. It didn't do this in any older version I've used and I can't find a setting to change it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLet's say I have an assembly called Original, as shown below with a 6m wide lane. Now I want to target it to 8m wide for some road widening. Now, will it stretch along the slope of the subassembly (Case 1) until 8m width, or will it just shift laterally to 8m (Case 2)?
I know that we can set the default slope of it, but I'm not sure if it gets overriden due to the Target-width process.
I can create a block where you stretch a line and the opposite side stretches equally in an opposite direction but I can't find anything with stretching equally in the same direction.
The block in questions is a door with windows to the side. The door size will remain fixed but as I stretch the window jamb I would like the two mullions to stretch to create an equal stretch.
