AutoCad 2D :: Stretching Ellipse Arc

Jan 4, 2014

I'm trying to make a (for lack of a better term) squarish ellipse.

I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points.

The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do.

I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants.

AutoCAD VB :: Stretching Selected Object

I am writing a code to select an object (crossing) and to stretch it a certain distance on the y axis. This is the code that I have to select the object, but I cannot find what to use to stretch it.  I actually found something to scale it, but it is not what I need. With ThisDrawing.Utility

AutoCad 2D :: Stretching Dynamic Blocks Along An Arc?

Mar 13, 2013

I have a 4' light fixture that is a rectangle. Right now I have it set up to where I can stretch it and it copies it’s self whatever length that I stretch it in increments of 4'.

Is there a way for me to modify this so that when I stretch it along an arc, that it copies its self and rotates its self along the edge of the arc?

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block Stretching

I am trying to make a block that I can stretch. The end pieces (gusset block) never change size. The only piece that needs to stretch is bar that connects them. The gussets are always on a 45 degrees. If I stretch it over 5 inches on the X axis, it should move -5 on the Y axis.

Now what I need to do is to stretch the side by 2 units to become 12 by 8 but I want the middle line to move automatically during the stretching process so I end up with two boxes of 6 x 8.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Variable For Stretching With Grips?

Jun 24, 2011

know of a variable which controls how stretching with grips works.  I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it.  For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches.  On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

The dynamic input is off.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Stretching A Line With Grips

I use to be able to stretch a line  by using the end grip and typing 50 , this would extend the line by 50 units

The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total

is there a system variable that controls this ?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Stretching Or Segmenting A Drawing

Jun 25, 2012

I Have a drawing that I want to get laser cut, its not a functional piece it is just going to be something that is hung on the wall.

I first drew the piece in 3D inventor then converted it to a DWG so that i can edit it in Autocad (ive been told by the laser cutter that they can process DWG drawings).

No two lines on the drawing can intersect however as i dont want the laser to remove large chunks from the peice. The problem im having is that i have to go through manually and select each line, then select the end point and then shrink it by a certain value. Since the drawing is quite a large drawing its becoming very time consuming

I cant switch the line types however because no matter what the line type when convereted to NC code the computer sees it as a solid line

ive attached a screen shot to try and explain what i mean

the one on the right is one a section that i have finished modifying and the one on the left is one that i have yet to change

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Stretching / Adjusting Contours

Oct 28, 2013

We are currently STILL in the transition from LDD to Civil 3D 2013.  Is there an easy way to stretch the contours within a surface without physically editing the surface.  Right Now,  I have a couple contours that have have spikes in them from lack of survey data.  The Problem is that if I don't change the contours, I have to show steep slopes between them which I would rather not do.

Do I have to keep editing the surface to try and resolve this problem or is there a way I can just stretch the contours?

Right now I resolved the problem by coping the surface, exploding it and putting the contours on a different layer so that I can stretch them as I see fit But this is not a time effective solution.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching And Dividing

Jul 26, 2013

Is there a way to make a dynamic block where I will insert the total length of this “ panel”. Say 3720mm, and that it will divide the “panel” into equal segments with a maximum segment width of 1240mm. ( so with 3720mm that would make 3x 1240mm segments)

Say it would be a “panel” of 5500mm it would be 5 segments of 1100mm, and a “panel” of lets say 3750mm would make 4 segments of 937,5mm.

I made a drawing to illustrate what I mean, A dynamic block for this will save a lot of time!

AutoCAD LT :: Lengthening / Stretching A Line With Endpoint Grip

Mar 20, 2012

I recently purchased LT 2012. I was using LT 2008 until now. When I grab a line from the endpoint grip and try to lengthen it by typing in a value it either shortens the length by the value I type, changes the overall length to the value I type, or does what I want it to- actually makes the line longer by the value I type but doesn't do any of these consistently. It didn't do this in any older version I've used and I can't find a setting to change it.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Width Target Assembly Stretching

I know that we can set the default slope of it, but I'm not sure if it gets overriden due to the Target-width process.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching Equally In Same Direction

I can create a block where you stretch a line and the opposite side stretches equally in an opposite direction but I can't find anything with stretching equally in the same direction.

The block in questions is a door with windows to the side. The door size will remain fixed but as I stretch the window jamb I would like the two mullions to stretch to create an equal stretch.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Dynamic Block - Stretching Into Different Sizes

Dec 4, 2012

For my AutoCAD class we are supposed to make a dynamic block of a basic theater flat which we can then stretch into different sizes. I was able to do the vertical stretch no problem, but when it comes to the horizontal stretch, the lines do more of a move action then stretching. I have redone it several times but it still won't stretch properly.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching Equally While Arraying

Jan 17, 2012

I have been trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to draw a DB that requires a hole spacing of 16" maximum. The problem with this is that a pair of holes will need to be added or subtracted based on the width while not exceeding this 16" maximum dimension, but maintaining even spacing. I.E., when this block is stretched down, a pair of holes needs to be subtracted and the remaining holes need to be spaced evenly. I have attached the block drawn at it's maximum width and most required holes at this width with stretch parameters for each hole set. The best idea I could think of would be visibility states for each series of holes that would be activated when the block is stretched accordingly but just can't seem to make it work.

AutoCAD LT :: Stretching In Dynamic Blocks Moves Line

Nov 14, 2012

Please see the attached drawing. It's for a conveyor system, and the idea is that when you insert the block, you could then select the size of the conveyor and the angle of the turn (straight sections are another block).

What is suppose to happen is, when you insert the block, you stretch the conveyor to the size desired, and the rest of the block should scale to match. Then you select the angle of "turn", and you're good to go.

I got it all to work except... when you stretch the line out, everything scales, but the line doesn't stay in place and just stretch to the left, it moves, which leaves a gap where the conveyor should be.

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block Scaling / Stretching In One Axis?

Feb 17, 2012

I have a profile drawing of a pv module that is a dynamic block. The dynamic block has options to let you select different attachment points. The location of the attachment points and where they attach to the pv module (the rectangle) is a manufacture requirement to maintain the warranty.

I am trying to modify this dynamic block so that I can stretch both the length and the height of the module. The height was the easy part and is working in the attached dwg.

As the length changes the location of the attachment points need to change as well but proportionally to the length. Basically scaling the rectangle but only on one axis.

I have seen references to how when you insert the block you can change the scale factor or once the block has been inserted into the drawing you can set the scale for one axis in the properties menu but is there anyway to do this dynamically?

The pv modules (the rectangle) come in a variety of specific sizes so scaling the block upon insert wouldn't really work anyway.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Combination Stretching And Visibility States?

Dec 9, 2011

I am working on a few dynamic blocks with ducts. The plan is when you stretch the duct to far it will automatically place a coupling and the next peace of duct.

This wasn’t the problem but if I connect more than 2 ducts it goes extremely slow. (see attached file)

I think that if I am using larger steps between stretching (still testing this theory) it will go faster but this goes against my nature of being possible to exactly decide the length on my one.

AutoCad 2D :: Selection Stretching / Zooming When Trying To Move Object In 2013

I type the move command and then select a particular object I would like to move a little and it grabs some (not all) of other objects/lines near it and then stretches the lot in all directions! It actually doesn't allow me to move it at all without stretching/extending all these areas. I have tried everything I can think of and am not sure what I am missing. I thought it was somehow related to the polyline I was selecting, but it does it to single lines as well.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching Multiline Attribute Text Box

I want this attributes text box width to stretch along with the line below it, so that long text strings will automatically adjust to single or multiple lines as necessary and not run off the end of the line. As it stands now I have to stretch the line and then adjust the width of the text box to match.

Also it would be nice if the bulk of the text would stay on the bottom line and only the "overflow" would move up to the next line.
