For my AutoCAD class we are supposed to make a dynamic block of a basic theater flat which we can then stretch into different sizes. I was able to do the vertical stretch no problem, but when it comes to the horizontal stretch, the lines do more of a move action then stretching. I have redone it several times but it still won't stretch properly.

I used Dynamic Blocks before and live the idea of changing sizes on the fly with out having to delete and recreate an object.. I got as far as creating an angle of different sizes, i.e.. 4x4, 5x5, etc. and different thickness but can't get the thickness to work with the radius of the angle.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a block that I can stretch. The end pieces (gusset block) never change size. The only piece that needs to stretch is bar that connects them. The gussets are always on a 45 degrees. If I stretch it over 5 inches on the X axis, it should move -5 on the Y axis.

I use autocad 2011 LT and I have some problem with polar stretching!I have to get from A(see picture) to B but C is always happening! I want to put in an angle in te propertieswindow so that I become B. the angle is variable but the middle stays the same length!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a profile drawing of a pv module that is a dynamic block. The dynamic block has options to let you select different attachment points. The location of the attachment points and where they attach to the pv module (the rectangle) is a manufacture requirement to maintain the warranty.
I am trying to modify this dynamic block so that I can stretch both the length and the height of the module. The height was the easy part and is working in the attached dwg.
As the length changes the location of the attachment points need to change as well but proportionally to the length. Basically scaling the rectangle but only on one axis.
I have seen references to how when you insert the block you can change the scale factor or once the block has been inserted into the drawing you can set the scale for one axis in the properties menu but is there anyway to do this dynamically?
The pv modules (the rectangle) come in a variety of specific sizes so scaling the block upon insert wouldn't really work anyway.
I want to make a simple dynamic block showing a plan section of a window with one mullion between the window jambs. I've succeded making the block stretchable to any given length that is required.
The problem is, that I can't figure out how to keep the mullion right in the middle between the jambs.
Is there any simple way to get there using the actions and parameters in the block authoring palettes?
I'm trying to create a dynamic block for plywood. I have the stretch parameter working so that I can stretch the plywood to the needed length. I also have set a rotation parameter based on the various roof pitches that we use. The problem is I would like to be able to rotate the sheathing to a 45 degree angle and then stretch along the 45 degree angle. Once I rotate the sheathing the stretch does not follow the rotation angle. I have attached the file.

In fact, they don't seem to be capable of stretching.
I have read some post about "Autodesk Sketchbook Designer for Autocad 2012" causing some conflicts.
Is there an advantage to having it installed?Do I need to uninstall it? or not?
Does it interfere with anything else in Dynamic Blocks or the drawing file?

I am in the process of fixing one of our dynamic blocks. It's a fairly simple fix where there was a typo in one of the names of our items in the lookup that needed to be fixed.
I changed the name of the item in the lookup table. I went and did the test block and it seemed to work fine, but when I bring the block into a drawing, it reverts back to the old lookup as if I did nothing at all.
I made sure that the path was correct and I even just dragged and dropped straight from Windows Explorer to no avail.Does AutoCAD keep referring to the old block? Did I forget to change something else?
my problem is whenever i make a new block a stretch point appears even if its not a dynamic block . also its not a stretch point, because when i click on it, it just move the block , and it always appear on the coordinates 0,0 it cause me a problem when I insert the block , autocad use this point as a base point , and its very far from the real block .

Is there a way for me to modify this so that when I stretch it along an arc, that it copies its self and rotates its self along the edge of the arc?

I want to create a dynamic block that as I select my pick point to move it over it stretches the box, however at the same time it arays 2 other lines at the same time. The trick is I need the 2 lines that array to renceter them self within the overall box thats being strtched. To put this in exact teerms I'm looking to create a dynamic block of a reinforced concrete slab that you can stretch to the length you want and at teh same time the reinforcing sysmbeol (----- X-----) will array itself and recenter. However when you insert the border block with the dynamic ones you can't do anything with them? Is there anyway of making the border 'flexible' or something so that it maintains the fact that it is a block with all the attributes but you can use the embedded dynamic ones. Other than the obvious edit block in place or block editor?

so when i change the parameter of the distance between the 2 geometry , the block length will ajust accordingly i'm not new to the dynamic block but to using parameters with it, never done that.
what I need to do to fix the elevation tag block below? I want the text to rotate and be readable as I rotate the block. Right now the text rotates but it's not readable when it's on the left hand side.

I want the first drawing's block to be updated to the modified block without reinserting each block separately.
I don't have the block as a separate file to "insert", only available to copy. With it being dynamic, I don't trust using the block editor and just copy/paste from the modified into the original.
Is there a way to redefine the block?
Is there a way to make a dynamic block where I will insert the total length of this “ panel”. Say 3720mm, and that it will divide the “panel” into equal segments with a maximum segment width of 1240mm. ( so with 3720mm that would make 3x 1240mm segments)
Say it would be a “panel” of 5500mm it would be 5 segments of 1100mm, and a “panel” of lets say 3750mm would make 4 segments of 937,5mm.
I made a drawing to illustrate what I mean, A dynamic block for this will save a lot of time!

Is there a trick in using a dynamic block in a table cell? When a dynamic block is inserted into a cell, any visibility can be viewed (Properties Manager) in that cell if the visibility state has a block in it. What happens if the visibility state does not have a block. That is, if the view has exploded block so one can use parts in actions etc? Can I view ANY state in a cell regardless if it has a block or not? Or must the visibility states have blocks to be able to use it in the table cell?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can create a block where you stretch a line and the opposite side stretches equally in an opposite direction but I can't find anything with stretching equally in the same direction.
The block in questions is a door with windows to the side. The door size will remain fixed but as I stretch the window jamb I would like the two mullions to stretch to create an equal stretch.
I have been trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to draw a DB that requires a hole spacing of 16" maximum. The problem with this is that a pair of holes will need to be added or subtracted based on the width while not exceeding this 16" maximum dimension, but maintaining even spacing. I.E., when this block is stretched down, a pair of holes needs to be subtracted and the remaining holes need to be spaced evenly. I have attached the block drawn at it's maximum width and most required holes at this width with stretch parameters for each hole set. The best idea I could think of would be visibility states for each series of holes that would be activated when the block is stretched accordingly but just can't seem to make it work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedPlease see the attached drawing. It's for a conveyor system, and the idea is that when you insert the block, you could then select the size of the conveyor and the angle of the turn (straight sections are another block).
What is suppose to happen is, when you insert the block, you stretch the conveyor to the size desired, and the rest of the block should scale to match. Then you select the angle of "turn", and you're good to go.
I got it all to work except... when you stretch the line out, everything scales, but the line doesn't stay in place and just stretch to the left, it moves, which leaves a gap where the conveyor should be.
I'm trying to create a Dynamic Block of an 3/4" x 3/4" aluminium angle with holes:
Depending on the length the number of holes will vary.
The distance between each holes need to be somewhere between 8" and a maximum of 12".
The holes must be centered and start from 1 1/2" up to 2" from each ends.
Each distance must be not more precise then 1/16" (no rounded off dimensions)
I'd like to simply drag the handle of the linear parameters (No lookup or visibility for 2 hole, 3 holes, 4 holes etc.)
i just upgraded to 2013 and my dynamc block functions have dissappeared. the ones that flip doors etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been building a bush cross section.I am building it as a dynamic block as I need copies in many different sizes.
Due to the cross section I am using hatches to indicate different materials (only 2)
When I change some distances linked to actions the hatch remains inside its boundary and conforms to the new shape, most of the grips work perfectly whereas one, the top left grip, misbehaves time after time and breaks the hatch associativity.
I should mention that I had it working perfectly earlier, but was asked to add a fillet onto my drawing and after putting this in and tweaking everything I have no longer been able to reach perfection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a few dynamic blocks with ducts.The plan is when you stretch the duct to far it will automatically place a coupling and the next peace of duct.
This wasn’t the problem but if I connect more than 2 ducts it goes extremely slow. (see attached file)
I think that if I am using larger steps between stretching (still testing this theory) it will go faster but this goes against my nature of being possible to exactly decide the length on my one.
