I have a civil3d model and now have an amended layout which I need to update to.
xref'd layout is 2d so I want to snap blips on my feature lines from the original location to new location while maintaining their z value.
I know you can turn off and on the ability to pick z values but can't remember the command (lost notes).
I have tried changing the osnapz option with now luck.
We are currently STILL in the transition from LDD to Civil 3D 2013. Is there an easy way to stretch the contours within a surface without physically editing the surface. Right Now, I have a couple contours that have have spikes in them from lack of survey data. The Problem is that if I don't change the contours, I have to show steep slopes between them which I would rather not do.
Do I have to keep editing the surface to try and resolve this problem or is there a way I can just stretch the contours?
Right now I resolved the problem by coping the surface, exploding it and putting the contours on a different layer so that I can stretch them as I see fit But this is not a time effective solution.
Let's say I have an assembly called Original, as shown below with a 6m wide lane. Now I want to target it to 8m wide for some road widening. Now, will it stretch along the slope of the subassembly (Case 1) until 8m width, or will it just shift laterally to 8m (Case 2)?
I know that we can set the default slope of it, but I'm not sure if it gets overriden due to the Target-width process.
What is the command to turn of fblips in ACAD 2013? In ACAD 2011, you can set BLIPMODE to OFF. But that command is not recognized in 2013.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy primary goal in this exercise is to select a nested polyline within a block and have access to its grips. I'm still not even sure if it's possible.
However, before I'm even getting to that stage I'm hitting some problems. I have some custom objects which all in some way or another inherit from BlockReference:
BlockReference
-Derived Abstract Class with common attributes
-Derived Concrete Class1
-Derived Concrete Class2
-Derived Concrete Class3
I insert instances of my derived concrete classes using jigs( Class2 for example is created using a polyline jig). However, when I select the block generated from it using a PromptSelectionResult, it returns a BlockReference, not the derived concrete class, not the derived abstract class.
When I try and cast that as the correct class type I get an error telling me I can't cast from the Base class to any of the derived classes.
So, firstly, why is it returning a BlockReference when the object I'm clicking on is an instance of a type that indirectly inherits BlockReference? And is it even possible to gain access to a nested entity's grips? I followed post here: [URL] .... but it doesn't give me what I need.
I've tried ed.GetNestedEntity and the AllowSubSelections property of PromptSelectionOptions and had little joy.
I like to use inherit properties a lot when hatching. Now it also grabs the layer and I prefer that to be bylayer always, like before when this (imo useless) option was not implemented. Does any trick to get rid of this feature I don't want.

When user tries to create a file in Photoshop (or open a file in Photoshop ) and then save from Photoshop to the network server, the file permissions on the server do not inherit. But, if the user right clicks a file (say received through an email) saves it without opening it first in Photoshop, it inherits permissions fine.

Last November, I reported to Corel the problem of brief "jerks" or "blips" in AVCHD video files or hybrid discs generated by VS Pro X2 from clips created by my Sony SR11. There was a long thread here in which several Canon users stated that they had the same problem. [URL]
In addition to transitions, I also get the same blips in the video at the end of titles placed over the top of video. I am not sure whether Canon users have that problem.
Since the problem still has not been fixed, I followed up last week with Corel asking for the status of the fix for this problem. In their reply, they asked for more sample clips and asked that I post their ftp site URL where you can upload clips that will demonstrate the problem. They want clips from the various AVCHD camcorder models which are having this problem. They didn't say whether they want raw clips or VS-generated clips that contain the blip, but I suspect they want raw clips so they can try to re-create the problem on their systems.
When selecting a clip to upload, what appears to cause the problem is that at the end of a transition or title, the video jumps back one frame and then proceeds forward again. Thus two frames are repeated, which causes the "blip". You can see this by viewing the generated file frame-by-frame.
So the blip is most apparent when there is obvious, but smooth, movement in the original clip. The raw clip I sent them when I reported the problem in November was of a truck driving down a highway, moving across the screen from left to right, and was shot on a tripod to eliminate any camcorder movement. In the VS-generated video, at the end of the transition, the truck jumped backwards slightly then went forward again.
A clip containing little or no movement, or a clip that is already jerky and unsteady, will not illustrate the problem well. So please select your clip accordingly. A single object moving across the screen against a non-moving background would be ideal.

I have a problem iterating heights when making a polyline between two different points that have Z-values. I've used Autocad Civil 3D for working with geodetic data with height measurements before and I remember using geodetically measured height values, transforming them into a surface and then when I create a 3Dpolyline within this area the polyline automatically gets z-values that change along the line.
In other words, I could use this 3Dpolyline to obtain a profile that gives me z-values even where there is no exact point with a value has been physically measured. It was a while ago I worked with Autocad and now when I started again I have a similar problem but can't manage to create a surface and get iterated values.
My exact problem this time is:
I have a sewage pipe that runs for several kilometers that is drawn as a 3Dpolyline, with correct x- and y-values. It doesn't have any z-values yet and these are what I want to obtain. I want the polyline to have continuous z-values that changes along the polyline (not only in vertexes) so that a smooth profile can be drawn if wanted. I have data of measured actual z-values for approximately every 500 meters or so along the sewage pipe and these are currently drawn as 3Dpolylines of around 20 meters going perpendicular to the pipe (as in the picture). In other words there are bars with z-values crossing the pipe all along the stretch. Now, what I want to do is to somehow make the polyline that represent the pipe to get the heights from these perpendicular bars with the measured z-values. If I try to draw a new 3Dpolyline between two of the measured bars where the actual pipe is supposed to be, the end vertexes of the 3Dpolyline gets the z-values of the bars. However, the value in between the bars gets the Z-value 0. So, if I start a 3Dpoly on bar 1 then continue the pipe with another vertex, and then finish off at the second bar I will have 2 vertexes with the correct z-value but the middle vertex will be incorrect (0). How do I get the pipe to get the correct z values automatically iterated from the values on the crossing bars? Is this even possible to do? Should I create a surface from the bars first, and in that case how do I do that? If possible I don't only want the vertexes between bars to have iterated z-values, I also want the entire line to have a correct value.
I've attached a crappy image made in paint (since I don't have Autocad on my home PC, only at the office). And just to make things even clearer I'll give an example. Let's say the pipe distance from 1 to 2 is 10 meters, the distance between 1 to 3 is 30 meters and the z-values of bar A and bar B is 10 and 25 respectively. So, when I draw a 3Dpolyline from 1 to 4, I want the vertex 2 to automatically get z-value 15 (since it's 1/3 on the way to B). In the same way, I would like for example the point on the pipe that is right in between 2 and 3 to have the z-value 20. I won't mind redoing the bars to for example singular points instead, if that makes it all easier.
I have created an alignment and long section and over layed my assembly to produce the corridor through my alignment. However it is standard practice in the UK to show the channel levels on a long section.

The screen pauses, blips a flash of light, the bottom layer briefly appears and then goes back to the layer I'm working on. I'm using Draw X3 and there are over 20 layers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an existing ground surface with all different z co-ords and im trying to add three proposed buildings to my exisiting ground with all the builidngs having a level of 32.5 as a minimum, however at some points the ground is higher than 32.5 and I only want to raise my existing ground to 32.5 within the proposed buidling layout if it is below 32.5 as im doing a flood calculation. What do i need to for this?

The problem I am having is that Grade Breaks are being recognised as where the sample line crosses a triangle, not where the the grade actually changes/crosses a feature line.
A have a number of simple platforms, that I have created using an infill from feature lines, usually these platforms are surrounded entirely by feature lines of the same height. As to be expected, Civil 3d creates a few flat triangles, and as a consequence, all of the points where the sample line crosses these show up on my band style. Is there any way to achieve this band style?
I am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..

I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points.
The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do.
I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants.

I have a 4' light fixture that is a rectangle. Right now I have it set up to where I can stretch it and it copies it’s self whatever length that I stretch it in increments of 4'.
Is there a way for me to modify this so that when I stretch it along an arc, that it copies its self and rotates its self along the edge of the arc?
I am trying to make a block that I can stretch. The end pieces (gusset block) never change size. The only piece that needs to stretch is bar that connects them. The gussets are always on a 45 degrees. If I stretch it over 5 inches on the X axis, it should move -5 on the Y axis.

I've got a single machine with Autodesk Architecture 2012 that when I select a grip and move it, then type a dimension in the command line, that the line becomes the dimension I typed, not the amount I moved it. For example, If i have 10" line, select and end grip, stretch it +3 inches or -3 inches, the line becomes an absolute of 3 inches. On all other machines, the line would either become 13" or 7".

I use to be able to stretch a line by using the end grip and typing 50 , this would extend the line by 50 units
The problem i now have is that if i do the same thing thing , the line instead of strecting 50 units the line becomes 50 units long in total
is there a system variable that controls this ?
I Have a drawing that I want to get laser cut, its not a functional piece it is just going to be something that is hung on the wall.
I first drew the piece in 3D inventor then converted it to a DWG so that i can edit it in Autocad (ive been told by the laser cutter that they can process DWG drawings).
No two lines on the drawing can intersect however as i dont want the laser to remove large chunks from the peice. The problem im having is that i have to go through manually and select each line, then select the end point and then shrink it by a certain value. Since the drawing is quite a large drawing its becoming very time consuming
I cant switch the line types however because no matter what the line type when convereted to NC code the computer sees it as a solid line

I've made a simple dynamic block, a rectangle with a hatch and added a linear stretch to it. The stretch works fine on the rectangle itself, but the hatch only gets moved.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make a dynamic block where I will insert the total length of this “ panel”. Say 3720mm, and that it will divide the “panel” into equal segments with a maximum segment width of 1240mm. ( so with 3720mm that would make 3x 1240mm segments)
Say it would be a “panel” of 5500mm it would be 5 segments of 1100mm, and a “panel” of lets say 3750mm would make 4 segments of 937,5mm.
I made a drawing to illustrate what I mean, A dynamic block for this will save a lot of time!

I recently purchased LT 2012. I was using LT 2008 until now. When I grab a line from the endpoint grip and try to lengthen it by typing in a value it either shortens the length by the value I type, changes the overall length to the value I type, or does what I want it to- actually makes the line longer by the value I type but doesn't do any of these consistently. It didn't do this in any older version I've used and I can't find a setting to change it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can create a block where you stretch a line and the opposite side stretches equally in an opposite direction but I can't find anything with stretching equally in the same direction.
The block in questions is a door with windows to the side. The door size will remain fixed but as I stretch the window jamb I would like the two mullions to stretch to create an equal stretch.
For my AutoCAD class we are supposed to make a dynamic block of a basic theater flat which we can then stretch into different sizes. I was able to do the vertical stretch no problem, but when it comes to the horizontal stretch, the lines do more of a move action then stretching. I have redone it several times but it still won't stretch properly.
