Photoshop :: Split Path And Re-join It?
Jan 6, 2008I'm having a custom shape that I'd like to divide into 2 parts to mirror one of them and re-join the 2 parts.

Illustrator CS6.
I did the fish body outline. Then I decided I needed to change the path by the head. I want to join the inside line to the body outline and eliminate the path on the head portion. I need the finished outline to e a closed path so I can do a clipping mask. I have tried the "join" cmd but it wants to add a straight line between the bottom and top.
Is there a way to accomplish what I am wanting to do?
Object - Path - Join dialog box asking if smooth or corner path is not showing up in CS5. How to get it bac/activate it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to achieve simple task, but can't do that. I have a guilloche background made of strokes. I need to cut them by a shape. The visual result i'm tring to achieve is the same as using the clipping mask. However i need to apply the mask to the strokes, and remove everything that is outside the shape. So is there a way of doing that?
Scirssors tool is not an option cos it'll take entire life to cut all the strokes manually. Outline opption in pathfinder is somewhat close, but then it's barely impossible to delete the cutting shape as it gets segmented as well.
I'm trying to extrude a circle around a path in all dimensions, so I drew my path in lines, filleted the corners then tried to join using the PEDIT - Join command.
Firstly, the join says something like "2 segments added to 2 polylines" when really all I want is 1 polyline.
Second, when I try to insert my circle for extrusion I OSNAP to the end of the line, then when I specify the radius it draws in the wrong plane. So far the only way I have gotten around it is rotating the ucs. Is there an easy way to do this? my Dynamic UCS is on.
The command to JOIN two overlapping anchor points as a SMOOTH join is not working (at least, on Mac).
"The join option only results in a corner join regardless of whether you select anchor points to join or the entire path. However, for overlapping anchor points, if you want the option to select a smooth or corner join, then use Ctrl+Shift+Alt+J (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Option+J (Mac OS)."
Drawing: line, arc, line.
arc was defined with line's end points and radius, so I'm positive that this drawing is continuous.
Steps I take:
pedit
click
do you wish to turn into polyline
y
j
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects: 1 found, 2 total [enter]
Select objects:
0 segments added to polyline
[enter]
I had no problem turning other arcs into polyline...
I made all my polygons with the same technique but somehow interactive polygon split tool does not split all polygons... I attached a file with which I have problem. Split tool just "disappears" after submitting changes...

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am exasperated by PS 7 again.
Someone has emailed me an old document in two sections (JPGs) and I want to "knit" them together again to make one document (JPG).
I've spent ages in PS7 trying to do this, to no avail.
I recently scanned a poster but it was too big so I scanned twice to get the full of it. With PS7 I wonder if possible to re-join them as the original ?
I tried the "basic" way of copy and paste which is copying 2 parts into a new file but the outcome not look right.
There are two open spots in our corPSe (Pure CorPSe 2 ) and I hope that two of you shoppers can fill them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying about 8 hours to convert a Photoshop shape in to a working path in order to put a brush border around it. I don't understand why the "stroke path with brush" is grayed out and not usable directly on the shape path itself.
"Load path from selection" is not an option because it deforms my path.
I want to be able to transpose the perspective of the existing image to my new 3D prism shape. Why can't I create a path.. and then drag nodes on that path.. and warp the pixels at the same time???
It shouldn't apply to just 3d.. because I should be able to draw a rigid path around anything and warp / stretch the image from those points.
I need to do something that I've done a hundred times before with simple image editors on my old Windows desktop, but now I have a shiny new MacBook Pro with an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, so I'm learning to use Photoshop CS6.
I have an image someone sent me that has text at the top and bottom of the image and too much "white space" in the middle (it's not white, but work with me here). I want to cut that part out, to have the middle disappear and the top and bottom sections join.
how to make the middle disappear (I used the regular select instead of crop, selected the middle, inverted my select, and chose Cut). But the top and bottom parts don't join.
I asked my Photoship savvy co-worker and she told me all about making layers to do this and that, and overlapping (offsetting?) copies of the image. My ears began to ring. This CAN'T be so complicated. With the free photo tool on my Windows machine, I could highlight what I wanted to get rid of, press Delete, and it would remove that part of the image and join the top and bottom pieces.
I know that while I'm working with an image if i hit the DELETE key it removes the last place point when using a lasso tool, but is it possible to undo the JOIN UP at the end of a lasso loop? If I press the DELETE key at this point it deletes whats inside the loop?
The problem is that I'm forever accidentally clicking too fast when using the lasso tool which automatically joins the lasso loop up. Is there anyway to UNDO this final step?
I do book cover design use action script. There is basic PSD template, which has high resolution 300dpi and large image dimens. 2200 x 1450). I should insert a picture which has much lower resolution 96dpi and smaller size 430 x 640 pix. I need that this picture covered full area, i.e. had the same size as a front cover (at least same height). If I just copy and paste this picture it have very small size due different resolution and dimensions. If I just lower the resolution and dimensions of a PSD template to correspond my picture, this gives error when action script run (in Step2), and also it is inconvenient to work with small template. How to join template and picture correctly?

This used to work in CS7,
I'm wasting time having to place my image in Illustrator then manually line up the clipping path. You used to be able to save a file with a clipping path as an EPS in photoshop, select "retain vector data", place in illustrator and hit cmd Y to see the clipping path. I need the image and the clipping path in Illustrator and the image is too complex to create a mask in Illustrator. I tried to save it as an EPS but "retain vector data" is grayed out.

I have many drawings that were created with the xref's as full path and I need them to be relative path. I would just go in and reatch them as relative path but the drawings are complete and there are different layers frozen in each one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
In illustrator, is there a way to reduce anchors points in a segment path without altering the path?
Is there a better and more efficient way to reduce anchors points than using the pen-minus tool?
need photoshop to split image to two parts and paste the second to the bottom of first in photoshop and need macro for this as i need to do for 1000 pages.
