Photoshop :: Soft Round Brush That Gets Larger While Painting
Aug 16, 2012
I have been searching for a brush, preferably a soft round, that will grow in circumference as I paint a straight line.
Â
i.e. : a brush that starts at say 15px then changes to (e.g.) 18px then 21px, 24px, 27px so on and so forth (And I mean one that will do this without having to stop and change the px size manually).
Â
I tried the brush settings where one can change the angle, roundness, px size etc. but there doesn't seem to be a setting that'll provide what I'm trying to achieve.
Â
I've been Google'n for the last 45+ minutes without any luck. Founds lots of other really nice brushes & btw, if a brush says that it's for Photoshop Cs4 do you know if that means I cannot use it for Cs6? Just wondering.
Â
So, if you already have such a brush would you be willing and/or able to share, or if you know how I can make one myself, that would (also) be great. Â
PS. If making a brush is difficult to explain just tell me and I will find a tutorial online. I don't mean to ask you to do my homework.
I used the magnetic lasso tool and need to soften the edges of the picture. My tutorials and book tell me that under the selection brush tool I will find the option for a soft-edge brush. Well when I click on the selection brush tool nothing comes up.
hi which is your best soft brush for accurate masks? for example add blurr and mask the hairs in a headshot and the face or in short you fav brush to make accurate masks? i use the normal brush hardness 0% but i know there are many many brushes to download ,with different shapes have a nice day
I'm trying to create a oil painting feel to a project I'm doing. Before I start I wanted to ask around first about the best brush to use, or a brush that I have to play around with the presets to create a good effect for the project. Any tips for this type of look is welcomed. As a reference point I'm using a jpg of planet Earth for this project if it helps out in describing the effect I might come out with.
I've never had this problem before. I'm using the standard soft round brush to blend colors, which has always given a smooth effect, but now it suddenly looks all pixelated. The brush strokes also appears in rings instead of a smooth gradient. It looks as if the picture has been sharpened too much or saved in bad quality. I've already tried things like changing the brush settings, deleting Photoshop preferences, increasing the RAM assigned to Photoshop, but nothing works.
i have been using PS cs6 for the last 1 month n have never encountered any problems or errors, but today when i started to paint a problem for Soft Brushes is appearing..it works fine for hard brushes, but when i switch to soft brush the edge of the soft brush appears grainy.. i have reinstalled the software, but doesn't work...i m using the same setting for CS5 and it works fine in PS cs5, don't know why suddenly this problem occured. (sys. config.: Win7 64bit, 1gb NVIDIA graphics card, 6GB ram, core i3 processor)
I am having a problem with my brush/stamp/eraser tool in photoshop CS5.5. Whenever I click to paint, erase..etc it will sometimes randomly paint elsewhere on my photo. Sometimes it will paint just one spot or other times it will paint a whole line or squiggle across my photo. I have checked my brush settings and I don't have anything turned on for it to do so (i.e. scattering, shape dynamics, spacing).
I noticed this was a question when CS4 came out; I've just upgraded from CS3 to CS6 so am experiencing the problem decribed in an earlier thread here:
[URL].... Â I have an Nvidia Geforce 7900GS card with an old 2006 driver, 8.4.4.0Â Â I tried updating to driver 306.81 from earlier this month and whilst this solved the brush issue, it caused the PC's cooling fans to operate much more frequently (and noisily) than before so I concluded it was not so suitable for my card. Â In view of this, should I be trying an older driver, say from 2009 as the earlier post suggests "because that bug was fixed by Nvidia back in the Spring of 2009" Â If so, which one? Â I'm running XP, SP3Â PC has dual core Pentium CPU 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM (3.25 useable with XP) CS6 updated with all available updates.
I'm not sure if anyone here can help me out but I'm having some problems with my Photoshop CS. Every time I go to put a brush onto the layout header I'm working on I get a program error message (Could not complete request due to a program error) and Photoshop closes. I get a pop-up from Windows telling me it will shut down Photoshop and notify me if there's a solution to be found. I've tried three separate brushes from three different custom brush sets and sll of them have caused Photoshop to shut down. Has this happened to anyone else? If so what can I do to fix it? For some odd reason this is only happening when I'm working with large 760x350 journal headers. I was able to work with a 350x80 banner just fine. I reinstalled Photoshop CS several times but that didn't do a thing. I tried going back to the original presets (I renamed the presets folder when I moved my presets from my old computer last fall) and using a default brush but that didn't work either. I asked in a help community over on Livejournal but that didn't bring me much help. I really want to be able to use my brushes on my larger graphics.
The odd thing is I'm trying to make a header for a layout that's 760x350 in size. I go to create the new graphic with that specific size and it won't accept the brushes and gives me those errors. I go to create a small banner (350x80) or a 100px square journal icon and it works just fine. It even works fine on an existing image that's 760px wide and over 400px in height. I haven't tried to start an image that size from scratch to see if that gives me the error or not. I had been getting some help from that Livejournal community but that didn't get me very far. I've posed this same issue on two separate forums and have yet to receive any help. This is a very weird and very specific issue that I need help with.
Just so you know I'm running Windows Vista on my system.
Just wanted to double check if the brush cursor rotation updates realtime in Photoshop CS6 WHILE painting. i.e. not when Intuos Art pen is hovering but in the middle of the stroke.  Previous thread on same topic, but with no conclusion :Â
brush painting on adjustment layers is not working at the correct opacity. For example I have it set for 100% but its only working at 10 or 20%. How can I fix this?
The CS6 mixer brush stops painting and turns into a hand icon, with only the index finger out, when I paint near the top left of my screen. It's about 3 inches from the left and 2 inches from the top. Â I don't have this problem in CS5.5/CS5.1 or CS5 . what the hand icon with only index finger out is for? It's not the move tool icon. I should also add that I'm using Win7 and a Cintiq. and I should add that the standard brushes don't have this problem in CS6.
Upgraded to Illustrator CS6 and as I paint with the brush, it only shows the path while drawing until I release my Wacom pen. I want to see the shape of my line as I'm painting it.
I am working on a project for my online class and am having difficulties with the History Brush. Note that both files are identical in size etc.  1. I created a color text file and saved it with a specific name.  2. I copied an existing photo from iPhoto, as I couldn't import into PhotoShop, and pasted it in a new file. I then removed the white background layer and then saved it with its now specific name and closed the file.  3. I re-opened the Color Text File.  4. I then re-opended my photo.  5. I performed a "Select All" from the menu bar of my active Photo then selected Edit - Copy and then closed my Photo file.  6. From my Color Text File I selected Edit and then Paste from the menu bar.  7. I selected Layer and Flatten Image from the menu bar.  8. I right clicked the background image from the Layers Panel and created a snapshot (which is my photo)  9. I selected the History brush and verified that this also displayed in the gray box associated with the Color Text file within the History Panel.  10. I verified that my photo image was displayed in my work area.  11. I start to fill the photo with my History Brush and the only color I get is White.
I am trying to locate information on how to achieve a real time display of the Gaussian blur while painting with the brush. Â Google is not being useful, nor does Adobe's own forum searches yield anything useful. Â I have seen mention of Smart Filters and designating the layer as a Smart Object in order to enable a Smart Filter but I can't seem to get the real time display of the filter when painting so I'm not sure if that proccess is at all useful for me or not as I can't locate information specific to what I'm trying to do. Â I'm incidentally using CS5, so if this option doesn't exist, that would be useful to know so that I'm not spinning my wheels.
After upgrading to Gimp 2.8, I am loving the single window mode. But the brushes are working a bit differently to 2.6.
I work, mostly, on A4 pages at 300DPI. So when I want to enlarge a brush, I like to use a custom shortcut to quickly upscale the brush so that I can to a large size quickly.
This happened nicely in 2.6. However, in 2.8, I can't find a way to quickly upscale the brush in the same way. I've created the same custom shortcut, but the upscaling takes a lot longer to reach the desired scale. It's a case of holding down the keyboard shortcut and then waiting while the brush gets bigger.
Is there a way to speed up that upscale motion?
EDIT: In other words, is there a way to make the "increase brush size more" function increase its increments?
I'm working on making a really awesome pic but I'm stuck. The style I use in all of my pics is by making a new layer, changing it to color mode, then making rainbow colors with a really soft brush. Everything was going fine until I threw some text in there. Now when I paint, the text stays the same color!
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
I have gotten to a point where I have the round text,, I have a seal with a blank space.. I would like to put the round text into the blank space,, but when I try, and no matter how I try,, the text is a white square with round text on it when I try to place it in the circle.
The other thought that came to me,, what if ..(the text circle size was a guess) the text does not fit.. how do I expand or collape it? I know I have in the pass while playing with round text.. gone back to that effect and changed angles, start points etc.. is that the only way?
I have attached what I have so far. ( I tried to attach the Paint.net file but I guess you can't, so these are the two I am working on,, as layers in Paint.net)
I'm trying to create a collage, will be my 10th high school anniversary soon and I really want to do this calmly before hand *ie. not in a rush as i do everything else*
the thing is i like this type of blending: photo blending type on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
but can't seem to replicate it with my own photos. I've tried reading up on various tutorials all over the net but most usually say to either use a soft eraser or vignette effect and i don't think the latter was used here and i tried the eraser and that just turned out ugly! Anyone with any suggestions on how to replicate this blending type ....
I should like the attached image to fade seamlessly into a black background. The image is actually to be put onto a DVD disc label which means (I guess) that the resultant image shape should be either circular or oval.
Im using the pen tool and stroking it with the brush tool and clicking the stimulate pressure setting but I still get hard edges at the end of the strokes.
I'm having with profiling my monitor/printer. I use an i1 Proof which includes the ability to profile my printer but my printer at the moment is a small Epson desktop printer - R220. "Near-as-damn_it" is my usual standard and suits me for general photography. At the moment I am photographing paintings with more exacting standards for reproduction.
I callibrate both monitor and printer. I have read and re-read instructions and use genuine paper/ink. My prints are appear a little darker than my monitor and in fact, the original painting. So can Soft proofing give an idea of the accuracy of the profile? (that's my main question).
Here are my settings
Device to simulate - myPrinterPaperProfile Preserve RGB numbers - Not checked REndering Intent - Perceptual Black Point Compensation - checked Simulate Paper - checked (which also auto checks the simulate black ink option)
Now, if that's my sofr proof setting and I toggle ctrl-y I am flipping between an impression of my printer profile and the actual display profile - is that correct? If I could put a screen shot of the two on the web,
